The start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine (Part 1) in War in Ukraine ·

Honestly, this is starting to feel like a total joke to me🤦

Russia is going to be isolated in every single sphere, and you just have to accept that reality.

I honestly think even the most hardcore Russia enthusiasts are starting to realize the entire ruling elite in Moscow has completely lost its mind. Now Medvedev is floating the idea of bringing back the death penalty? What is he even playing at?

Russia is being steered by a crew of lunatics unlike anything we've seen since the Great Depression.

Joseph Cruz said:But isn't there a third option? Could they have remained neutral, much like how Finland and Sweden functioned during the Cold War? If Ukrainians had opted for military neutrality, perhaps this war could have been avoided entirely. Consider this: the Warsaw Pact never once attacked Sweden or Finland, even though they possessed the capability to do so without any fear of triggering a NATO response that might escalate into World War III...

The Russians are doing everything in their power to prevent Sweden and Finland from joining NATO.

Appeal of the Russian special forces to the soldiers of the US Armed Forces. "Just listen to the guys who are already practically sitting on the outskirts of Kyiv. Seriously, just listen and stop throwing your lives away for nothing."

Now it's the Ukrainians appealing to the Russian military.

It’s bound to happen; the pressure is just too intense, and the Ukrainians are doing their part perfectly by defending their land...

It’ll likely turn out to be nothing more than shallow Russian propaganda, where they put on Ukrainian uniforms just to pretend the Ukrainian military doesn't want to fight the Russians...

I guess Biden is just scared gas prices will skyrocket.

Just the other day, Joe Biden already signaled his support for the sanctions, though he noted that consultations within the European Union are still ongoing.

The Canadians are on board too... Russians are getting booted from SWIFT

I’m guessing they spent the last few days figuring out how to soften the blow from this decision, and they found a way. Either that, or they just accepted that this move was inevitable. It probably didn't hurt that the Ukrainians stood their ground...

who visited the University of Chicago back in 2015, about a year and a half after Maidan.
He lays out a very clear, well-argued case
on why the West is actually responsible for what’s happening in Ukraine and explains exactly how everyone played their part.
It’s an easy watch. He breaks down all the necessary elements
needed to grasp the broader context
of the conflict and the competing interests in that part of Europe. If you know English, give it a look...

Do you honestly believe he thinks Russia's current aggression is justified, or that he'd actually defend Putin's latest move?

The Russians literally sent 10,000 criminals from Chechnya straight into the war...

Their whole end goal is bringing back the USSR, not building some Third Reich nightmare.

Just listen to Putin's hour-long pro-Nazi speech. Aside from mentioning borders, that whole thing has nothing to do with old-school Soviet ideology. It’s actually quite the opposite...

Olivia Stewart2 said:It appears that Putin's strategy is to utilize war to force Ukraine into some sort of new agreement, perhaps something akin to Minsk III, which would be significantly more favorable to Russia—essentially a "Finlandization" of Ukraine. However, for that to work, he needs a living Zelenskyy; an agreement can only be signed with a democratically elected representative of the Ukrainian people, not with some installed puppet. His plan likely involves encircling Kyiv and other major cities to then organize negotiations. At that point, everyone starts playing their strongest cards. Entering these cities will, by all accounts, trigger intense guerrilla warfare and result in heavy casualties on both sides, though one has to ask who actually benefits from that. Politically, it hurts Putin, as the Russian people may eventually turn against him once they see the mounting number of Russian soldiers returning home in body bags from an unjust war. Zelenskyy emerges as a Ukrainian hero and secures his place in history, yet simultaneously, it remains a Pyrrhic victory, leaving behind nothing but leveled cities and a massive toll of civilian lives.....

I don't see how that actually prevents future Russian aggression. Russia has already proven they aren't worth the trust...

At this point, it's Russia that needs to provide guarantees to the West and Ukraine if they want those sanctions lifted.

NATO might stay on the sidelines, but are you really certain the Americans won't move into Western Ukraine to establish a buffer zone if the situation spirals out of control?

There's just no way the US allows Russia to get close enough to their border to start running military exercises right on their doorstep in a couple of years...

Rebecca Lewis7 said:It is because those neo-Nazi Azov battalions don't even number 20,000; they are the only ones actually providing resistance, plus all the chaos.

The Americans are absolutely fed up with the corruption... the empty promises... and the daily looting by both politicians and officials... not to mention the Nazi slogans, the censorship... throwing representatives into the trash along with the garbage, the threats from extremists, and the bans on Canadian... Romanian... schools...

Much like how Americans, after years of indulging in capitalism, finally realized that statistics are a lie; they have smartphones and designer underwear in their stores now, but they can't afford food or utility bills, so they are completely done with the promises and fairy tales.

Would any of you actually fight tomorrow for Biden and Pelosi and foreign corporations and big media conglomerates? Does milk and honey flow through your streets, or is an American wallet actually in an American pocket? Because mine certainly isn't.

Who owns the food industry, the breweries, the banks...? Who owns the telecommunications... who owns the massive conglomerates? It is all identical in Ukraine; oligarchs and foreign corporations own everything, and Ukrainians have no intention of dying for their interests.

But then again, what does a guy from the rural Midwest care when there is plenty of whiskey at the end of the day?
They'll be fine.
Please, tone down the alcohol consumption a bit.🤣

Besides, the Russian leader won't send Russians to die when his Kadyrovites... Cossacks... are begging him on their knees to let them off the leash.
A column of 70,000 Chechens was mobilized in 24 hours and they are currently heading to Donetsk; in 24 hours they will be in Kyiv—it’s just like how tourists in BMWs and Mercedes drive to Kyiv. If the conflict ends before they arrive, they'll just cry millions of tears because they failed to become men, so we might need to build a dam to prevent the flooding.

I suggest that the feminists, the activists, the LGBT associations, and the trans rights fighters... the democracy activists... should all pick up weapons now and go face the music. If they lack the courage, they could at least adopt the Ukrainian refugees they spent years encouraging to mess with Russia and promising they would defend them; oh wait, those were just false... empty promises, promises made to fools. The main thing was that they collected the paychecks and bonuses from UK, US, and EU funds, while the moronic-idiotic-naive-gullible... well, whoever, take the money and run.,
Let the Ukrainians fend for themselves now, after we spent years egging them on to lash out at Russia and bomb them daily for eight years, while arming, training, and coordinating them... it all seems quite revolting to me... 🤮🤮 truly disgusting... it makes me sick.

Where are the British now, stuck in a hole along with those "extremely special" individuals?

That is exactly how we will be defended tomorrow too, and then some Americans will whine about why we don't have weapons... or why we don't have aircraft... we don't need any of that; our "allies" will defend us just like they did in the 90s—they will defend us with sanctions on weaponry, just like they are doing to the Ukrainians now, with Sweden sending helmets. I might actually lose my lunch in those helmets.

As far as I can tell, Azov isn't part of those Nazi Russian forces—they're actually fighting against them.

The real headache for him is those oligarchs.

But honestly, the European Union crowd isn't exactly itching to drop any heavy-duty sanctions...

I’m fairly certain we might see them getting kicked out of SWIFT as early as today, especially given how bravely the Ukrainians and Zelenskyy have held the line. It's being talked about more and more. Even Italy announced yesterday that they’ve given the green light for it.

The hypocrisy is actually painful.

We should probably mention that these same Americans are importing 600k barrels of oil from Russia every single day.

They stirred up those naive Ukrainians against the Russians, and once the bear actually woke up, they just left them to fend for themselves.

It's the same Americans who are still out there fighting wars all over the world that shouldn't even involve them.

Edit: Just stumbled upon a brilliant thought.

"The Russian vaccine cured COVID."

The Russian army is practically at the gates of Kyiv, yet here we are, still obsessing over what the Americans might do. 🤣

urbanotter said:Honestly, what's the real difference between a Russian dictatorship and our own version of democracy, where you can't even open your mouth without facing consequences?

Putko might have cleaned things up a bit, but he never even bothered telling the secretary to handle the termination notices or resignations.

You aren't exactly making a serious argument here.
