Here’s a LINK that lays it all out perfectly—it’s not actually money that's the root of all evil, it's the obsession with it. Definitely worth a read. Just a heads-up though—don't let the Bible stuff throw you off; the guy's an ex-pastor turned yuppie. He isn't preaching any religious brainwashing, just explaining how chasing cash feels like a shortcut to happiness and power, when it's really just a trap we all fall into. If we shift our mindset, we'll see that money becomes the problem because we're too attached to it (whether we realize it or not). If we handle it differently and invest in smarter things, it just becomes a tool to live a decent life.
The Wall Street way of thinking might bug you a bit since he repeats himself, but honestly, after checking it out, I'm telling you: money and power aren't always joined at the hip.
Are we at our happiest as children? in Psychology ·
It really depends! As a kid, you don't have to worry about paying the bills or dealing with any of those heavy "adult" stresses, but childhood isn't just one big playground.
And let’s be real, bad stuff happens during childhood too—everything from bullying to the absolute worst-case scenarios like abuse. Like, imagine an 8-year-old girl dealing with PTSD because of her stepfather or getting attacked by a dog... she’s already on medication just like an adult would be. Kids like that aren't exactly living in the moment...

Personally, I liked being a teenager way more than being a kid.

Joshua Adams41 said:I honestly don't get why everyone views our modern democratic capitalist social structure as a place where money is the absolute deciding factor for having a healthy life.

Maybe it's because we aren't actually living in a modern democratic capitalist social structure?🙂

The way I see it, here, money seems to be the only cure for anything. Yet, just a few hours away from Washington, D.C., you’ve got places like Austria where anyone with actual skills—and let me be clear, in a capitalist system, "skill" means practical expertise, not some useless degree—can actually afford a decent life.

We ought to respect money and the people who actually generate it—the entrepreneurs. So why is the narrative here always about how the future belongs solely to the "educated"?

And I'll say it again: money is merely a tool. Any society that refuses to accept that reality... well, they might as well surrender to its power. They certainly don't deserve anything else.

Agreed
That bolded part—every time I read something, they always bring up those "wealthy entrepreneurs." Makes me wonder, what did they actually build that justifies all this media hype in such a weird context???

To me, money is just a necessary evil. Enough to have a roof over my head, and that’s it. When I have a little extra cash, I love treating people to small things, but when I'm totally broke—well, I'm broke.

I've been there—having plenty of dough and also being completely broke, barely scraping by. But I've always been the same person. In the bad times, yeah, maybe a bit more stressed, but I've never chased status symbols or tried to hang with the rich crowd. My character hasn't changed—never became pretentious or thought I was "somebody" special.
I agree that money equals more power, but more power means double the responsibility.

So, as weird as it sounds, that's way more of a priority for me than the cash. The best things in life are not things 😍
Why not! Honestly, I'd still love to know my organs could help someone out. As long as the recipient's body actually accepts them, that is.

But hey, do you really need an official donor card, or is just telling the family enough? Like, if I tell my mom, brother, or dad, then they know what my decision was, right?
I once heard this total nonsense from some barber—some weird philosophy about how if you donate organs, you're passing all your "bad energy" onto the receiver. I think that's absolute bullshit.
