Project: Find a Friend (Classifieds / Meetup Thread) in Psychology & Therapy ·
Hey there!

I am looking for a woman who shares my deep love for the great outdoors—someone who finds joy in trekking through mountains and wandering through dense forests. Whether you’re a forest nymph, a mystical soul, or just an ordinary person living life to the fullest, I truly don't mind; I just want that connection to nature. 🙂

While I’ve always enjoyed being outside, the lockdowns really changed my perspective and turned me into a true explorer of natural landscapes where I can escape the crowds and the constant noise of the city. My past experiences have taught me that hiking with my guy friends can be a bit exhausting in these settings, which is why I am seeking an interesting woman who genuinely appreciates moving through wild, beautiful terrain.

Generally speaking, I consider myself a very versatile and curious individual; I am equally comfortable engaging in deep conversation, being a thoughtful listener, or simply enjoying a peaceful silence together. My interests are quite broad, ranging from psychology, philosophy, and mythology to history, linguistics, sociology, and the arts, as well as various practical skills and scientific disciplines. Music—especially anything with an alternative edge—along with theater, books, and film, are essential pillars of my daily life. As you might gather from my profile, I also have a profound fascination with Northern Europe. I pride myself on being responsible and empathetic, holding firm, well-reasoned convictions while remaining genuinely open to hearing and respecting different perspectives.

I have a passion for photography and spend a fair amount of time sketching and writing. I much prefer intimate gatherings over large crowds, except perhaps at concerts or similar events where a crowd is part of the experience. I have no desire for pointless arguments or bickering, particularly regarding topics that are unsolvable or where objective truth is impossible to find. While I can discuss almost anything, I tend to step away if a discussion devolves into a stubborn battle of entrenched positions. Instead, I value constructive dialogue where we can actually learn from one another through a meaningful exchange of knowledge and intelligent, grounded arguments. I am drawn to the unusual, the unconventional, the depth found beneath the surface, and pure creativity.

Anyway, I won't ramble on any longer, but if any of this resonates with you, please feel free to send me a message. 🙂

Patrick Patel4 said:And how exactly do you know what my world looks like? My world *is* black and white. I've got the worst case of BPD, hitting every single symptom except for the hypersexual stuff, which—let's be real—isn't even on my radar. For me, everything is either pitch black or blindingly white. It used to be mostly white back when I was living in this delusion that every little mistake in my tiny universe could be fixed, and that everything would eventually turn out fine if I just tried hard enough. But man, I learned the hard way that sometimes there are no excuses, and there just isn't a second chance.

For the general public, the world is a gradient, not a binary. Everything moves in layers. But for us? It’s either the end of the freaking world or the most beautiful thing that's ever happened.

And look, when you're stuck in that specific mental loop, there really isn't much anyone can "do" about it, right? Yeah, sure, there's "self-work" and there's medication, but that’s a grind that lasts years. Are you really going to spend a quarter of your life trying to fix that, or do you just accept it and move on, finding support through other people or even just through media? Honestly, I don't have the energy to spend ten years or more sitting in support groups just to try and strip it away or learn how to cope. It’s exhausting, and the vibe depends entirely on the people you're stuck with. New people rotate in, old ones leave, it’s constant chaos.

But hey, I'm strictly speaking from my own perspective and for those of us dealing with BPD.

I commented on the original post regarding the search for a positive outlook because I truly believe that abstract, generalized values aren't the bedrock for solving internal struggles. Likewise, there is no magic, universal cure for everyone who experiences extreme negative polarization. However, stepping back from a situation and widening one's perspective feels like a much better strategy than constantly swinging between extremes and spinning in the same endless loop. Setting small, manageable micro-tasks for oneself allows for incremental growth, which eventually builds a brighter picture of one's own life. It’s a way to shake off self-pity—if that even exists—along with anger and frustration. These battles of personality are fought within us and alongside ourselves; that is where the true battlefield lies. The moment we step outside our own frame, we run into an endless minefield of noise, comparisons, and distractions, which is far harder to manage than dealing with just one voice and one person.
I only know about FBI-level instability through certain individuals, so I can't truly feel things the way they do to fully grasp their mental landscape. That is why I focused solely on the concept of a "negative personality" without getting bogged down in clinical psychological categories. Black and white. 😁
Kindness and naivety aren't exactly roommates, you know. The real issue here isn't that you lack goodness, but rather that you're far too naive and prone to acting without thinking things through first.

You really need to move past that black-and-white way of thinking if you want to make any real headway. There isn't such a thing as an objective "win" or "loss," just like there isn't a simple positive or negative in everything we encounter. The world doesn't operate in shades of strictly black and white, and that applies to our emotions, our lived experiences, our deep reflections, and even our most stubborn beliefs...
If you focus on doing the work, growing, and only measuring your progress against who you were yesterday, you’ll actually start to feel that momentum. It is incredibly easy to just retreat into a corner and wallow in self-pity, but let me tell you, that accomplishes absolutely nothing. You have to approach yourself with the curiosity you'd show a complete stranger, and more importantly, you have to be brutally honest with yourself.

Don't make it your ultimate goal to just strip away all those self-help delusions about self-deception or forced positivity; your actual goal should be to simply live your life. This is especially true if you happen to be someone who is naturally inclined toward melancholy.

At the end of the day, you just have to learn how to draw a line in the sand and stop putting people or situations on such an unrealistic pedestal.

Hey there!
I’m really hoping to connect with a woman who is either studying psychology or has already completed her degree—though honestly, if you just have an intense, deep-seated fascination with human behavior and personality, that works perfectly too.
It would be a huge plus if you happen to love the vibe of Northern Europe; having that shared interest would give us plenty of great things to talk about, especially regarding the topics we discuss here on this subforum.
A little something extra like an interest in learning Scandinavian languages would definitely be a Frosty bonus.

To be fair, those aren't the only things I want to talk about, as there are countless other interests and subjects I find engaging, but I figured I'd share those specific passions as my little "hidden motive" for reaching out through the forum.
