The growing trend of smoking bans in Health ·
There’s a fine being handed out, but honestly, I haven't heard of anyone actually paying it yet. Such a shame...

northernfalcon9 said:It’s not really about how much damage is being done, it's more about the sheer annoyance factor. Think about it—when you're sitting in a pub or riding on a train, a subway, or a bus, cigarette smoke is a huge nuisance. But when you're just crossing the street near heavy traffic, those exhaust fumes don't bother you nearly as much, even if they might actually be worse for you. It's just way easier to ban smoking than it is to ban cars.

Look, I think they should just have separate sections in bars—one for smokers and one for non-smokers. That way, everyone gets a choice. It's not like you're forced to go to a bar in the first place, right?

As for public buildings, transit, and stuff like that, I am all for banning smoking there...

Personally, it's the exhaust fumes that get to me. Honestly, ragweed pollen bothers me too, mostly because some people don't take care of their property, letting weeds run wild. Same goes for city services that don't maintain green spaces properly. It’s annoying AND it’s bad for you. Could I sue them for it? Sure. Does it bother me? Absolutely...
By the way, it's not just me either; at least a quarter of Americans feel the same way.

Seriously though... maybe they should pass some kind of law against not washing up. Honestly, the stench radiating off certain people does more damage to my health than an entire carton of cigarettes. I mean, I’ve never once gotten a migraine or felt like throwing up from smoking, but this? This definitely does the trick.
Can I actually sue those individuals for endangering my health?

Or what about the neighbors living in that rundown alleyway across from my building who burn furniture just to stay warm? Ugh... the smoke just drifts right through my balcony door...🙄

I’d honestly love it if I could just get to my college classes without being choked out by car exhaust every single morning.🙂

When are we finally going to see some actual legislation on this? The fumes from all these cars are doing way more damage to our health than cigarettes ever could. You really can't convince me that we need to crank up the engine for every tiny little trip... To me, acting like smoking is the only big problem while ignoring all this pollution feels incredibly hypocritical.

Just your basic blue Nivea 👍

If you apply it right before bed, I really think you'll start seeing some good results. Personally, I usually go for that or just my usual Vitamin E cream.

To be honest, even my Chapstick makes things worse... I’ve actually noticed my lips looking even more irritated after using it.
I don't know, I just can't see eye to eye with placidjackal97 on this being some super dangerous technique. It's not like our minds are nuclear reactors that are going to meltdown in sixty seconds if we mess up a little...
In my opinion, autogenic training is actually pretty harmless as long as you're using common sense.

As for Gruden, I don't know much about him other than the fact that he's homophobic and tends to drop some really idiotic comments. Personally, I'm not a fan, but you can't deny he's the one who brought this method over to America.
Maybe shadowfalcon33 could weigh in with some actual arguments to back up those claims?

I honestly feel like most people don't even need a professional instructor to get the basics down with autogenic training. I have nothing against paying for classes if someone feels like they can't do it on their own, though...
From what I can remember, I didn't drag my feet nearly as much when it came to practicing the techniques while I was learning. Everyone is wired differently—some people need two weeks, some just need two days, and others could spend two months straight and still feel behind. You really can't make blanket statements about how the mind works. Just stick to your own rhythm and go at your own pace...
I don't know about everyone else, but I can tolerate someone having incredibly backward views, as long as they aren't trying to push them on me.

Honestly, I really don't give a damn about how other people live their lives or what they think, so in that sense, I’m actually pretty tolerant. I’d even say I’m quite open-minded, but only up to a certain point...
Give it a shot! If you honestly think taking a course would make a difference, some people have spoken really highly of that doctor... I could probably send her name and where she practices over to the Prime Minister via DM if you want. I'm just guessing, though...
I really think this technique could be incredibly helpful for you if you're dealing with anxiety.
I actually taught myself using just books, without any formal training, about ten years ago. Later on, I even practiced it as part of my psychiatry studies.

Nothing bad can happen if you're giving yourself clear, unambiguous instructions. If you really feel like you can figure it out on your own through reading, go for it.

I don't have anything against taking a course, but for just basic use, it’s really not necessary. Especially since I wouldn't dream of attending a session led by someone homophobic. There's a course over in Brooklyn run by a doctor, but honestly, you'll probably learn more from someone else...

It sounds like you might be dealing with an allergy or maybe just some hypersensitivity to the water itself—my boyfriend actually deals with the exact same thing.

Honestly, there isn't really a permanent fix for this kind of thing. For your legs, I'd suggest picking up a good moisturizing cream or a heavy-duty lotion...

Maybe try checking in with a dermatologist to see what they recommend.

I mean, if they're called "tears," they're obviously artificial tears, so that shouldn't have anything to do with height.

Lumify isn't really the right call for that. It's more for when your eyes are looking red from something like allergies.

Having classes running from 8 AM to 6 PM every single day definitely puts a bit of a limit on how much I can post here😢

Is it Thalassemia or something else? in Health ·
Back in the day, certain parts of Greece and Italy used to be major malaria hotspots.

By the way, if you look at the literal translation of thalassemia, it actually means "more in the blood." It’s also commonly known as Mediterranean anemia.

At the end of the day, if you ask me, the mind is its own powerhouse. Most drugs just end up clouding your vision and making the path to self-discovery a whole lot harder than it needs to be...

Look, here's the thing... there are so many plants out there that are perfectly legal but incredibly, incredibly potent.

Right now, everyone seems to be obsessed with things like *S. divinorum* or *I. violacea*, but you can't just find those growing in your backyard here in the States. The stuff we have locally isn't really "in vogue," though you occasionally hear about some random poisoning incident when kids start messing around with things they shouldn't—I think there was actually a big news story about Datura a few years back...
