Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
redgardener5 said:I didn't get Logest like I was hoping... I got Diane 35 instead. I mean, I'll give it a shot, but if my skin starts acting up—like if I get breakouts, weight gain, or unwanted hair—there is absolutely no way I'm staying on this!

Honestly, picking this pill seems like a pretty questionable move since you’re basically saying you don't even have issues with excess male hormones if your skin is clear and you aren't dealing with extra hair growth.

I’d really suggest checking in with your OB-GYN to see if they can switch up that prescription for you...

Yeah, there actually is a pill that can pretty much wipe out all the local flora and fauna. It’s prescription-only, though, and you definitely shouldn't be taking it on a regular basis...

Just hang in there until tomorrow morning and ask the pharmacist at CVS for some hydrogen peroxide or something similar. If you can manage to leave it alone for ten days, you might get lucky and have it clear up on its own, but honestly? There's a much higher chance it gets infected, and then you're looking at a massive headache...

It’s hard to tell if it’ll actually heal up... regenerate... whether it'll go back to how it was before, or if it'll just never be the same again... 😲

You should try Neosporin, I think that's the one, and apparently it doesn't sting. You definitely need to put something on it, though. It doesn't have to be alcohol or iodine—just head to a drugstore and ask for something that won't burn...

I honestly can't even imagine how you guys pulled that off 😁

My suggestion would be to disinfect the cut with something... I don't have much experience here, but hopefully the guys can weigh in with some better advice. Just whatever you do, don't use cotton balls because they're going to stick to the wound once it starts bleeding...
Glasses or contacts? in Health ·
Just wanted to let you guys know that everything is looking good with the medications. I’m actually going to start taking them from my third or fourth dose 😁

Getting them removed was totally painless, too.
Glasses or contacts? in Health ·
First, I trimmed my nails, gave my hands a super thorough scrub, and then... honestly? It was just a mess of swearing, frantic calls to my best friend, and a whole lot of fumbling around until things finally settled down.
Honestly, props to me 😁 (I didn't even try them on at the eye doctor because my ragweed allergies were absolutely killing me. I just told them I'd handle it myself once the sneezing stopped and that I had plenty of pros at home who could help me out).

Guys, I just spent the last ten minutes attempting to put in soft contact lenses for the very first time in my life (after a solid half-hour of wrestling with them). And honestly? It’s nothing! I didn't even shed a single tear... it's actually way worse when you get an eyelash stuck in your eye.

The only tricky part is how clumsy it feels—they either fold over, refuse to let go of your finger, or just end up overlapping once they're in your eye. But hey, I did it! Now fingers crossed that taking them out goes just as smoothly...😁

I’d go straight to The New York Times. Then, I’d have the lawyers and a lawsuit running in the background as a Plan B. You can’t bring your mother back, but you can sure as hell make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. That way, at least your pain isn't for nothing...

If you hit the press first, they’ll just try to bury everything. Suddenly, all that documentation about those post-op complications—the ones they conveniently left out of the discharge papers—will just "disappear."

frozenangler9 😢

Jerks. A pulmonary embolism—that’s easily the number one surgical complication... And somehow, they’re acting like it’s not even within a surgeon's scope????

Try getting a hold of the medical records, even if you have to go through a court order. You really should talk to a lawyer.

It's honestly enough to make you sick how people get treated at the Mayo Clinic. You're already the third case I've heard about (and I'm not even from NYC and haven't lived here long), but yours is the worst because the first two actually made it out alive...

I’ve got these soft contact lenses sitting in their little case, just waiting for my allergies to clear up and for me to actually work up the nerve to wear them... Honestly, looking at them now, I have no clue how I'm ever going to find the courage to actually pop them in my eyes.

So, I've got myopia and astigmatism, but hey—these are soft lenses. If I couldn't get these specific ones, I wouldn't even bother with contacts. There is zero chance I'm paying for toric lenses because I don't plan on wearing contacts very often anyway. I don't even wear glasses right now.

Is it possible my eye doctor intentionally gave me a stronger prescription since there aren't any cylinders listed? My myopia used to be around -0.75, but now it's -1.25. I haven't even tried the lenses yet, so is there a chance they'll feel way too strong? Or is that just how it works to compensate for my
astigmatism, which is about -0.5?

Or am I just losing my eyesight altogether? 😢 (At this rate, I'll be carrying a white cane by the time I finish college 😁 )

It's basically the exact same thing, just under a different brand name.

And what else can I tell you? Honestly, I've been in total survival mode the last few days, so I haven't really had a chance to get to everything on my list...

Jacob Wilson50 said:The best medicine? Honestly, ANTIVIRAL stuff works wonders if you use it IMMEDIATELY!!! Like, the very second you feel that first sting. You should always keep some in your home medicine cabinet, otherwise you're stuck racing to the pharmacy...

It's basically the American version of Virolex gel.

So, what’s your take on this kind of pain management approach?

"Spinal cord stimulation (also known as dorsal column stimulation) is ideally used for back and leg pain stemming from adhesive arachnoiditis,2 failed back surgery syndrome,3 causalgia,4 phantom limb or stump pain,5 and ischemic pain." You can read more about it here:
http://www.dcmsonline.org/jax-medici...rosurgical.htm

They actually perform procedures like this right here at the Mayo Clinic. At least, it seems to be something in that vein, though I don't have all the specifics handy...

quietfox17 said:Haha, sounds like you don't quite get how things work around here—whoever pays the bill is the one calling the shots.

Well, honestly, the surgeons at the local hospital perform top-tier spinal surgeries; I really think they stay right in step with Western standards. And if you're paying out of pocket, the cost for an operation is probably much lower here than it would be abroad...
quietfox17 said:Those are hormone pills (progesterone), not actual CONTRACEPTION.
get that straight once and for all...

I’m not sure where you’re located, but over here we don’t really have those specific "morning-after" branded products yet. Instead, people just use standard birth control pills (usually something like Sprintec) following a very specific high-dose schedule (the 2+2 method). Honestly, pretty much any oral contraceptive can work as an emergency option if you hit the right dosage at the exact right time...
Jonathan Perez88 said:.. I have a bit of a situation.. I was supposed to start my next pack of birth control pills today since my break is over and my period is finished, everything is lined up, but I just can't get started today (nothing major, just life getting in the way), so I’ll probably start them tomorrow instead.. what happens now? Does being off by just one day actually matter? What about down the road? Should I shift my whole schedule so I stop on Mondays instead of Sundays like I used to? Honestly, what should I do?.. 😕

Nothing's going to happen.

Honestly, you had more luck than sense there. You don't have to end up pregnant just because a guy tries to make a run for it. Sperm can definitely escape before things are even finished...

Better head straight to the local library and get some actual info so you don't pull another stunt like that.

So, I once had this total midnight panic thinking I’d forgotten to take my pill... but I actually had taken it. Turns out, I’d accidentally doubled up and taken two instead... Please, don't make that mistake, because honestly, it doesn't feel great at all. (It's probably a similar vibe to that feeling you get from taking the morning-after pill)
