The start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine (Part 1) in War in Ukraine ·
urbanotter said:Doesn't every sovereign nation have the fundamental right to decide for itself which alliances to join?

Or does that principle only apply when we're talking about NATO?☕

Ukraine would never have joined NATO anyway, and honestly, it wasn't even on the table.

Laura Scott7 said:Look, it’s pretty simple if you actually bother to look at the big picture: Russia is just looking out for its own backyard, especially after being backed into a corner by NATO constantly pushing its borders right up against Ukraine. Putin laid out the terms clearly—he wanted a guarantee that Ukraine wouldn't be joining NATO, plain and simple. But instead of taking that seriously, these folks got way too cocky, acting like Russia was some minor player in the Middle East that they could just push around. Now, they’re trying to flip the script and spin this whole thing to make it look like Russia just attacked Ukraine out of nowhere without any provocation. Give me a break... what a joke. And don't even get me started on those EU sanctions; as if they’ll actually do anything when half the stuff they produce is already being bought up by India and China anyway. But hey, the absolute best part of this circus? The USA won't even stop importing oil because heaven forbid they actually try to do something to keep energy prices from skyrocketing, right? Total joke.

Nah, NATO has nothing to do with this. It’s all about "liberating eternal Russian land" and wiping out "neo-Nazis." 😵

Russia didn't start a war; they just launched a military operation to protect their own interests.

Yeah, and Hitler "launched a military operation to protect his interests" when he invaded Poland and Czechoslovakia. Or how about Slobodan invading the US and Canada.

Seriously though, why are Russian soldiers even out there dying in Ukraine? Is it so Putin and his little circle of oligarchs can keep stuffing their faces with caviar and popping champagne? Or so Kadyrov can run his own private caliphate inside Russia?🤔

They know they don't, which is exactly why they want everything to go dark there.

Laura Scott7 said:I mean, who else is going to flee into the middle of major cities and put civilians right in the crosshairs? That’s basically Military 101—you don't let the fighting get anywhere near urban centers, you definitely don't go running into them to use them as human shields. But sure, the second a shell hits a residential building, suddenly it's all the Russians' fault, right? Just do me a favor and actually check out some actual news sources like RT instead of just blathering on about what you *think* is happening. You can't just make stuff up and call it reality. It doesn't work that way.

Stalingrad—ever even heard of that place?🤦

Laura Scott7 said:Honestly, it’s just a bunch of cowards from these paramilitary groups and extremists who have all retreated into the cities, basically using regular people as human shields because they know damn well that Russia Putin isn't going to go dropping airstrikes on urban centers with civilians everywhere. I mean, if there are really as many of them as they claim to be, why aren't they out there fighting on the front lines instead of hiding behind families and apartment buildings?

Why don't you just email the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense with your brilliant tactical advice? Just make sure to mention you mean well! 🍿

And it's not like 15,000 kids are dying from starvation instead of disease all over the world right now. I honestly doubt this war will even come close to matching those numbers in total casualties.

I saw the French detained a ship. This has become a global joke involving the major powers. Just a bunch of world-class losers on both sides. And yet, I see people on this forum eating up this garbage and enjoying it. ☕

Just send them some food then!👍 How much have you actually sent so far?🍿

That's like telling someone to watch Republika Srpska or AT&T if they want an "objective" take on the old American wars.

A bullet to a head of state?

What if someone calls for a bullet to the head of Zelensky, Orbán, or Plenković?

Would that be tolerated?

It’s way more appropriate to wish for a fair trial and punishment, whether that's in an international court or a Russian one. The difference is those guys didn't commit war crimes, but this whole aggressive war definitely counts.

Honestly, Bitcoin is just some mystery author's Ponzi scheme, and I'm calling it now: it’s gonna crash soon!

mistycanyon67 said:I wouldn't call it an ultimatum. There was plenty of time to settle this—to neutralize Ukraine through more peaceful means. I guess Putin just ran out of patience.

I heard the USA didn't react too kindly when weapons were placed right in their backyard 😉 but I suppose those aren't considered ultimatums if the USA starts hysterically reacting?... 🤔

Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons. Total rookie mistake.

Richard Cooper3 said:I agree with everything here. Everyone is acting clueless, like they have no idea about the Maidan or the coup—that was the actual start of the war. Now, the Russians have just stepped in to finish it.
I suppose we could end up like the Chechens, who are doing alright for themselves these days.
As for that weak, decaying Europe—there's no point wasting breath. You only have to look at those useless bureaucrats over in Brussels: Šuica, Sokol, Ressler, Borzanica, Picula, Romana Jerković...🤦

Well, you don't have to stick around in a "weak and decaying Europe"—you're more than welcome to move to Chechnya if you want!

Joseph Clark95 said:What a level of information and posts we have here 🎉

The war in Ukraine actually kicked off back in 2014, and it wasn't some sudden thing.
Unfortunately, nobody seems to want to open a discussion about the invasion of Donbas, Novorossiya, and the eastern parts of Ukraine by Western Ukraine, Ukra, or Maidan Ukraine.
It’s all very nice to play dumb and claim the Russian invasion only started in 2022, but when you consider there were over 3,000 civilian casualties in Donbas from those groups since 2014—not even counting the others—it tells you that things are being framed incorrectly, whether intentionally or not.

Hypothetically, that would be like saying a war in America started in '95 just because the US military moved toward Banjaluka. Imagine if Democrats across the globe started blasting "American aggressors" for attacking innocent Canada or Republika Srpska without ever acknowledging the context of the 90s.

The hypocrisy of the democratic world and the absolute mess that is the EU shows exactly what the EU is: nothing more than a puppet for Anglo-Saxon interests, both in Europe and across the ocean.
The EU should honestly just build a monument to Putin, because he’s the only one who can actually pull them out of the grip of the groups mentioned above. Otherwise, the EU will just keep playing errand boy for everyone else's interests.

To all the servants and cannon fodder out there: don't wait for someone to roll out the red carpet for you. Go defend Ukraine on the ground yourself...☕

What are you waiting for? Get out there and liberate us from those Nazis!👍

Brenda Taylor13 said:None of that matters if there's zero resistance. If you run into a real defense—I mean a gritty, "hold at all costs" kind of situation—then yeah, sure, you might need ten times the manpower just to break through. But if nobody's fighting back? You could practically stroll in with seven guys, kind of like how the Germans rolled into Mexico City back in '41.

The Germans didn't just walk into Mexico City; they swept through all of America! That whole April campaign was over in just ten days. But man, they immediately got hit with a guerrilla war that bled them dry for four years straight. Honestly, maybe that's exactly what's waiting for the invaders in Ukraine.😉

I saw the green guy realize there's no way out and now he's begging for negotiations. Honestly, let's just stop all this killing already. We could just demilitarize the whole area, install a pro-Russia government, hook them up with cheap natural gas, and then finally get the rebuilding started.

It’d be awesome if they picked a pro-Russian government, but we won't see that until someone actually sane takes over in Russia. Right now, it's just Putin's inner circle driving all this anti-Russian policy!

Justin Kern67 said:To be perfectly honest, until a few days ago, I hadn't even heard of SWIFT and have no idea how it could actually affect an economy. However, I discovered that back in 2012, during certain sanctions, Iran was cut off from SWIFT, and I see no evidence that it hindered them—if anything, it did the opposite.

You basically need that number whenever you're sending money overseas or getting paid from abroad.

Honestly, I'm just rooting for this whole thing to be over tomorrow, regardless of who "wins" or what happens today. I just want people to get back to their lives in peace. Dying for some politician's fat ass is just pointless.

Tell that to Putin—tell him to pull his occupying army out so everyone can actually live their lives in peace. And yeah, war criminals should definitely face justice, obviously.
quietharbor50 said:What an absolute joke of an article; they actually have the nerve to call it a "Plazma creation," when the whole thing basically just implies they weren't allowed to export the biscuits as if blocking them was some casual, everyday occurrence.
It’s pretty obvious the recipe was ripped off from those Italians who make this biscuit, so with the Communist Party backing a brand-new factory, they started churning out a cheaper, low-rent knockoff meant specifically for a public that hadn't tasted anything better—I mean, just look at the ingredients! You know how people nitpick Nutella, but here, switching from olive oil to palm oil—like moving from Plasmon to Plazma—is actually presented as a selling point? It couldn't be sold abroad because it’s a blatant rip-off, and even today, it wouldn't fly because it's just a subpar imitation.
So, I really don't get how anyone can claim this was some top-tier, legendary product, especially since we were just discussing in another thread a few days ago that back then, only the finest ingredients and premium chocolates were used.🤔

Nostalgia aside, obviously.

Look, Pepsi stole its idea from Coca-Cola, all Jaffa cakes are just copies of the British original, and every poppy seed or walnut pastry is probably a stolen recipe from some grandma Josephine back in the 1400s. Who cares? I'm not losing sleep over morality.👍
Omicron variant in Coronavirus ·
Joseph Evans40 said:Just wait until peak season hits... that's when every single Omicron, Omega, and Sigma variant will decide to make its grand entrance into the States.
But honestly, there’s no need to panic; as long as the tourists are around, the virus clearly has too much respect for the vacation vibes to ruin anyone's summer.

What "bad season"? It'll be here in two or three weeks if it hasn't already!
