Omicron variant in Coronavirus ·
neonpuma30 said:I have zero doubt the local alarmists will find any excuse to scream apocalypse—blaming the government and even the NFL—just so they can squeeze out some extra tax money... ☕

Just like everyone else, those panic-prone folks who are terrified a little shot might cause a blood clot, so they immediately claim Omicron is just some herbal tea combo just to dodge the needle.👍 Has Lauck checked in yet?🙄

Why is everyone so obsessed with banning the term "anti-vaxxer"?🤷

Are we really just trying to coddle such an aggressive minority?🍿

boldcanyon14 said:That’s a totally different subforum (politics), which means different mods and a whole different set of rules still in play there (you can tell because people are still complaining about it). What went down back in February and March last year on that other board under a different mod has zero to do with what’s happening now—I honestly don't get why you're even comparing them!

It's because that basically set the tone for all future discussions and planted the seeds for all this flat-earth nonsense that's blooming now. So many sensible folks have checked out or been pushed away, including several medical pros.

boldcanyon14 said:I don't think I've even posted on this sub in over 10 years, but honestly, the stuff they tolerate here is insane. Give me 10 minutes and I could find 100 troll posts from that guy still sitting there—it’s wild he hasn't lost his mind yet! And he’s not alone; there are a few other users who really take things way too far, no matter which side of the argument they're on.

There have already been complaints about him, and when the mod steps in, they just point out he has the most warnings. But that’s a weak excuse! Of course he has the most warnings when he’s dropped over 3,500 posts just on the pandemic subforum (that’s more than anyone else's entire 13-year history here!). If you looked at the ratio of warnings to total posts, he’d actually be near the bottom.

Plus, he and the crew that agrees with the mod constantly get hit with 10-20 warning points, while people with opposing views get penalized way more for the exact same stuff.

He’ll spam the same comment across five different threads at once (literally writing, "do we really need to talk about this in every thread?"), acts totally clueless, and then hits back at counterarguments with the same canned response or just ignores the parts of a post he doesn't like. He’s basically killing any actual conversation and driving people away. He derails every topic, pulls quotes completely out of context, and drags discussions off on random tangents. If your goal is to lose participants and kill all debate, mission accomplished!

He is the literal definition of a troll hiding behind a mask, riding the coattails of the mods because they let him get away with it.

Seriously, just look at his recent post history. It’s just random comments that have nothing to do with the topics, mocking people, and massive 20+ post essays "explaining" things to "stupid" people—like lecturing folks on corporate hierarchies or acting like he was an expert on hospital protocols during the height of the crisis, totally hijacking the vibe.

Back in February and March of last year, you were basically risking a 500-point penalty just for suggesting a global pandemic might actually happen, otherwise the mod would just label you a "panic-monger." It was straight-up North Korean level censorship. That Wobbie wasn't even posting back then, so maybe the moderation just swung too far in the other direction.

Back when all those COVID threads were being moderated exclusively out of Indianapolis😁, I used to rack up 500 (or 100, 200, whatever) points just for posting way more harmless stuff. So honestly, you got off easy with only 45 points for that string of insults—can't really complain, right?

Anyway, I don't get why the "COVID is fake" crowd gets so aggressive and loses their cool so fast. It was exactly the same way when I was following those threads, and it feels like absolutely nothing has changed.🤷

In America, you simply cannot have a government procedure that doesn't offer a path to legal recourse. A self-isolation mandate is a textbook administrative process, and just like any other administrative action, it must include a mechanism for judicial review. The penalty itself is a completely different beast and falls under an entirely different procedural category altogether.

Lol, I guess doctors and epidemiologists should just drop everything they do and spend all day writing paperwork then! 👍 Or, you know, we could just hire a massive army of bureaucrats to handle all the orders and red tape.

So what, are you gonna demand your doctor write up a formal legal decree just so you can take a sick day too?😲

crimsonranger3 said:I found a figure for Austria. It’s at 7%.
Let's assume the situation here is similar, with 280,000 infections. Based on data from the CDC since March, the mortality rate sits at 1.5%.
With a population of 4 million, you could expect roughly 4,200 deaths.
How many people have been left jobless? Around 60,000, right?
And how many people are effectively "dying" because they can't find work? I'd imagine a massive percentage of those 60,000.

In my view, it is far worse when 60,000 people go hungry and subsequently die, compared to 4,200 deaths—especially when many of those would have passed away regardless.

As for the media and the politicians? They're both absolute trash. Just a bunch of people incapable of contributing anything useful to society, so they settle for what they do.

Wait, what kind of math is that? How does 1.5% of 4 million equal 4,200?🤔

Roger Alvarez3 said:And let's not forget the media, who love nothing more than fanning the flames for no damn reason! Just look at last week—we were stuck listening to endless reports about certain countries "announcing" restrictive measures against America, while Canada was just "threatening" them. It's a subtle distinction, sure, but it's a massive difference in how they spin the news, right?

Or take that whole mess regarding Kacin's stay at his vacation home on Manhattan. Our media basically manufactured a scandal out of thin air! I mean, wouldn't it actually be in his best interest if America didn't face those restrictions so he could just chill there over the weekend without any hassle? Honestly, I think the Canadian government was so terrified of the media circus that they were too scared to make an exception to the quarantine for property and boat owners, even though everyone was talking about it beforehand. We basically shot ourselves in the foot and killed our own revenue!

Why doesn't COVID target boat owners?
My formal complaint in Banned Users Corner ·
Please just give me a permanent ban. I really don't want to hang out in a forum where people like that are running the show.

Thanks!

Anyone know why I can't see the complaint thread about the ban and all the moderation stuff regarding those coronavirus posts?

Did that guy from Kansas City block her from posting it?

Jason Miller80 said:I’m actually gonna side with the moderator on this one! Not only is it comparable to the flu, but honestly, it feels way more intense and dangerous, plus it spreads like crazy. And look, when it comes to WHO, let's be real—money talks, and everyone has their flaws. All this global hysteria is happening for a reason, likely serving someone's interests. I won't play guessing games about who they are, though. Even as someone who usually stays far away from conspiracy theories, I can smell something fishy here if you just use a little logic instead of getting swept up in the panic.
We definitely aren't all on the same page here. On one side, you've got the people profiting from this whole mess, and on the other, everyone else who's been getting pushed around by fear and panic for three months straight.

Wait, if the mortality rate is way higher than the flu, how can you say the flu is worse or more dangerous?🤔 You can literally check the case counters on Index to get the real numbers and compare them yourself. Also, why do you think you know more than the experts at WHO?

But hey, that's not even the point! The issue is that you can go ahead and share your opinion there—even if I think it lacks actual data—but if I try to say mine, I face sanctions. Why shouldn't we both have that right?

I gotta say, I’ve never seen moderation handled quite like this before! The mod in charge is basically acting like a regular commenter, flooding the thread with way more posts than anyone else and just looping the same points over and over. But the second someone says something they don't like? Boom—suddenly you're "spreading panic," and your post gets nuked or you get flagged. It’s honestly ridiculous to preach about "not causing a panic" while simultaneously banning people from sharing basic facts, like actual infection numbers. Meanwhile, they seem totally fine letting some wild, unscientific theories about how the virus works or how we should handle it slide right through.

In my book, if a thread is about public health, it should be run by experts who actually encourage different perspectives and the sharing of new data. Honestly, at this rate, it might be better if the whole thing was just shut down.
