WTF is a "lightning sensor"? What does that even mean? If a thing like that actually exists, I absolutely need to get one... What does the device even look like, and what is it actually measuring? Sound? Electrostatic charge? Or what—exactly??
Syncing vs. Backing up Outlook in IT Support ·
I don't know about Outlook, but Gmail is basically already stored in the Cloud—so personally, I don't lose any sleep over it. All I do is sign in when I get a new device, link the account, and boom—done. Isn't it the exact same deal with Outlook?

Look, if you want to be 100% certain, keeping a local backup isn't a bad idea—but let's be real: today's cloud services are arguably more reliable than a local drive. Unless you're prepping for some total apocalypse and genuinely doubt the infrastructure of giants like Google or Microsoft...
How do you back up your most important files? in IT Support ·
analogwalker2 said:I honestly don't think it’s particularly wise to pin all your hopes on cloud services—I mean, really, think about it! You never truly know when a provider might just pull the plug or decide to sunset a service entirely. And if that happens? Poof! Your entire archive just vanishes into thin air, lost to history. Why take that kind of risk?

Look, cloud services can serve as an extra layer—an added level of redundancy for critical data—because you can never have too much protection...

But when it comes to local storage? These days, you can pick up used PC parts relatively cheap, which means you have everything you need to build a budget-friendly Linux-based NAS...

For $500—$267 you could snag a refurbished machine with a warranty, then just set aside a few hundred more for a decent setup of multi-terabyte drives...

However, if someone actually has MASSIVE amounts of data to store and preserve—I'm talking way more than just a few terabytes—then tape storage is the way to go. It isn't exactly cheap... but it’s elegant, efficient, and arguably the best practical solution out there...

Technically yes, but practically... not really.

Joseph Stewart38 said:I never actually claimed it was impossible, nor did I say that Rankin's statement was factual. My issue—my actual problem here—is this absolute certainty people have that something doesn't exist just because it isn't sitting on some magazine cover.

As for Sedlar, I don't know enough about that situation to weigh in—and frankly, I'm not interested in getting distracted from the main point.

Oh, but that is *exactly* the point: when someone cites a cover that’s been fabricated or—even worse—Photoshopped... look, if the Wikipedia editors had actually bothered to Photoshop that Time Magazine cover from 1951, we'd have something to talk about. But good luck finding the exact fonts used by printing presses back in '51! They didn't put in any effort at all—they just assumed nobody would ever bother checking old archives... unbelievable.👍

At least Sedlar actually tried with his Photoshop job (he even added those crumpled, punched-hole paper effects)...🤣

Joseph Stewart38 said:Fine, it is possible that Wikipedia is citing a headline that doesn't exist, but you can't claim a statement was never made just because it isn't on some specific front page. You can say there's no proof the statement was ever uttered—but you cannot say it wasn't said simply because it’s missing from one particular edition. Besides, Wikipedia isn't the only place on Earth where a claim like that could surface.

Oh, so now it's possible...

The fact that this thing shows up in hundreds of places across the web, in all sorts of formats, including Facebook and whatnot, is nothing more than people citing "reliable source Wikipedia"—even though I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Ranković's statement first started circulating back in 2008, right before someone went out of their way to hunt down a legitimate Politics headline.

Lupiga, on the other hand, completely tore apart Sedlar's Vjesnik forgery, and Sedlar actually faces criminal charges for that and the entire film.

Joseph Stewart38 said:An argument that pivots away from the actual topic to some other subject is just as flawed as saying "if one part isn't valid (the front page), then the whole thing (the entire newspaper) isn't valid either)."

Given your question, I can tell you this—what does one have to do with the other? In other words, Rankovic could have made that public claim even if the Vjesnik headline was a total fake. Likewise, his statement could be a fraud while the Vjesnik headline remains perfectly legitimate. It’s also possible both are true, or both are fakes. Bottom line: they aren't connected, and there is zero correlation here.

They *are* connected because the Wikipedia entry is a blatant forgery—it claims (right under that supposed Rankovic quote) that the text appeared on the front page of Politics, which has been proven false. And the 1945 Vjesnik headline is also a forgery, which was undeniably proven in an article by Lupiga (I posted the link a few posts ago, so go read it)...

Forgery is the link...☕

Joseph Stewart38 said:Medjutim, you're just spinning theories here. It’s all pure speculation—just like the debate over whether those statements were actually made or not. People love to assume something never happened simply because it didn't make the front page of the New York Times. That's not how facts work.

All things considered, I personally believe that Rankovic’s hypothetical statement isn't actually all that far from the truth. Now, I'm not claiming he ever explicitly said it—I'm not an idiot—but my take is that the very nature of that regime made those kinds of figures entirely plausible.

Have you seen "the truth" according to sedlar—do you actually believe that the Vjesnik cover really read "Many corpses from the Jasenovac camp Sava brought to Washington, D.C."?

Joseph Stewart38 said:Look, again—this is pure speculation. Whether that statement was actually made or not, we can't know for sure, but you can't just claim it didn't happen simply because it wasn't splashed across the front page of some newspaper. If you had a legitimate argument, fine—but the logic of "it wasn't on the cover, therefore it doesn't exist" is something only a toddler would buy.

If we’re going to be strictly logical about this—and I mean truly consistent—then there is only one certain conclusion: the Wikipedia entry regarding Rankovic's statement is a total forgery, since it relies specifically on the front page, and that statement isn't on the cover of Politics.

The whole thing falls under the umbrella of malicious falsification. It’s identical to the attempt to forge that other headline—the one from Vjesnik used in sedlar's "documentary" about Jasenovac, which was thoroughly debunked here.

It’s Wikipedia—of course they’re the ones bringing up the front page of that 1951 Politics issue. They clearly assumed those covers had vanished into thin air, but naturally, there isn't a single image or link to be found on Wikipedia...🤦

Is that supposed to be on the front page—or is it buried somewhere else? If it is, where exactly?

So, you think you went a little overboard with that enrollment? Maybe. It’s easy to get carried away when you're looking at the big picture, but I suppose hindsight is always twenty-twenty. Now I'm just sitting here wondering if I jumped the gun.

Sam Martinez9 says:
Of course you didn't. But honestly, that whole post of yours directed at Wanda just makes it look even more pathetic.

Look, suicides definitely happen. But my friend? She didn't pull the trigger because she's some kind of saint who loves life or herself. And it wasn't even about her other child. It just wasn't.

So you just went ahead and lashed out at this complete stranger, labeling her nothing more than a common liar who’s actively masking her true motives—not just from everyone else on this planet, but from herself, too.

Isn't "bolding" just a way of pointing fingers?

So, did her daughter only suddenly become a priority once she lost her son?

It's pretty obvious that if someone feels that way, their family won't miss them either, because if they truly mattered, they would have stayed by their side longer.

Your friend opened up to you... shouldn't you have told her daughter?

So, you didn't want to step on any "gems"?

Does anyone know why Windows 7 occasionally fails to recognize USB keyboards and mice?

I just picked up a dual-boot setup, and I'm running into this exact issue...

Everything works flawlessly in Ubuntu, but in Windows 7—more often than not, actually—the system just ignores both the keyboard and the mouse. It’s incredibly frustrating; I have to hard-reset the whole machine just to get them working again. 🤦

Basically, does anyone know if this same headache exists in Windows 8 or Windows 10? If so, I might as well just install that crap now if this version won't behave...

Anyone who has ever actually installed Ubuntu knows the drill—you have to install Windows first, then wipe the drive and install Ubuntu just to deal with drivers.

What kind of bullshit drivers are you talking about? You seriously think you need Windows drivers to install Ubuntu? 🙄

Sure, you can install Windows after Ubuntu... it just means you have to jump through a few extra hoops... check this out: http://askubuntu.com/questions/6317/...stalled-ubuntu

The fact that Windows doesn't recognize GRUB is a Windows issue, not an Ubuntu issue...
but there's a fix for that too, if you bother to look at the link...
