That works fine, though writing it backwards just doesn't make any sense. 😁

Honestly, I didn't even type "CD," so please, let's be fair here! I didn't put a slash before it or after it. 😳
(At least, as far as my memory serves me right now... 🤔)

So, I’m still totally confused about how I could have received it that way without sending it myself. It wasn't until I went into the received message and manually pulled out that little slash that I finally managed to send it. 🙂

Well, I guess I learned something new today! Who knows, maybe the forum will actually start behaving itself by the end of the day... 😁

dustypuma5 said:If you’ve got "CD/" written in that PM, just go ahead and delete it. Honestly, you're probably going to think I'm some kind of wizard right now, but I promise you, I am totally not. 😬

I swear on my life, I didn't write that part! 🙂
But then again, how on earth could I have received it if I did... 🤔

Anyway, it doesn't really matter because it seems to be working fine now, so we'll just have to wait and see... 👍

Thanks so much. 🙂

I've been trying to send a private message to someone (😁), but I keep getting this error message:
Method Not Implemented

POST to /private.php not supported.
😕

Ugh, what did I do wrong? 🙂

Up until now, the only time I ever had trouble sending messages was when I went a little overboard with all the emojis! 😁

Honestly, there's really no reason to stress out about CCleaner since you haven't even run it yet. And even if you did, you wouldn't be deleting anything important from your PC. CCleaner just clears out cookies and all that other digital junk that piles up while you're browsing the web and working.

There could be a million different things causing this issue, and it's impossible to say for sure without doing a much deeper dive into what's going on.
It would probably be a great idea to have someone take a real look at your computer. 😉

Well, I went ahead and ran CCleaner! 🎉 I was feeling pretty brave... 😍
But everything is still exactly the same. 😕 Except, well, I had to log back into the forum. 😁

Who knows what actually happened to it.... 😢
I think I'm going to have to take it to a repair shop....

dustypuma5 said:Grab CCleaner, give your computer a good cleaning.
You should also download Malwarebytes, run an update, and then perform a full system scan.

What you're dealing with isn't actually an issue with this American forum; it sounds more like a glitch on your own PC, maybe some corrupted cookies or settings caused by a virus or something else acting up under the hood.

Also, it’s always a smart move to have at least two different browsers installed just to troubleshoot things. Try downloading Opera and see if that specific link works for you there.

That’s definitely the best way to start. 🙂

But do you really think I know how to do all that? 😁
I actually did install CCleaner, but when I went to run it, a warning popped up saying that continuing would permanently delete files from my computer 😕 so I got spooked and backed out.
I also installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and ran a full cleanup, but I’m still stuck—I can't even open basic Windows programs properly, and the forum keeps freezing up on me. 🤷 And the weirdest part is, no viruses were found at all...

What am I supposed to do next?

If nothing else, I guess I just have two new random icons cluttering up my desktop now. 😳 😛 🙄

EDIT: Well, things just went from bad to worse! 😠
Now my window won't even open all the way; I can see the background peeking through around the edges, and sometimes the bottom of the screen looks all stretched out diagonally... I try to resize it, but once I maximize it again, it’s back to being broken.

Thomas Martin6 said:Look, anyone can claim they're seeing an error, rustydrifter10 🙂

The 503/504 errors usually pop up when a server is getting slammed with too much traffic or when some security protocols kick in to protect the system. It might just be a temporary hiccup where you can access most parts of the forum fine, but occasionally run into a glitch here and there, right?..
And then Matthew Johnson3 mentioned how "..60% of the topics won't open, it just throws an error.." I took that to mean he's completely unable to access certain sections of the forum at all. Honestly, I'd really appreciate it if he could just send me the specific error message he's seeing so I can actually get in there and fix it.

🙈

To be totally honest, I'm not exactly a tech wizard. I can't even get my Windows machine to boot up properly anymore—I have absolutely no clue why, so I'll probably have to take my laptop to a repair shop and let someone else take a look. 🤦

But what I am experiencing is this happening almost every single time I try to open a thread, jump into a sub-forum, or even just try to exit one. 😕 And it’s not just once; it happens multiple times in a row.
It's been going on for quite a while now and, man, it is seriously starting to get on my nerves... 😢
Is it possible this isn't even an issue with the forum itself? Because it feels like it's only happening to me... 😕

briskbison41 said:@rustydrifter10/">@@rustydrifter10 - honestly, sending a PM to a moderator isn't going to do much for you, because this isn't really in their hands; it’s all up to the System Admins who manage the backend of this forum.
They actually ran an update pretty recently, and if I remember correctly, the whole forum was migrated to a more powerful server. It seems to be running a bit smoother than it used to, even if things still glitch out occasionally, but it's definitely an improvement over how it was before.
The issue should probably get sorted out soon enough.

Thanks! 🙂
I'm really hoping everything gets back to normal quickly. 😁

Thomas Martin6 said:What specific error are you getting? Could you paste it here so I can take a look and see what's actually going on?

Well, you weren't asking me specifically, but I keep getting those 503 and/or 504 errors. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure about the exact wording, but I know it mentions something about the server failing to respond in time. I think that "timeout request" pops up while I'm busy clicking through things.
It doesn't happen the exact same way every time, though. 😁

Usually, I'll just end up staring at a completely blank white screen, or the page will just cut off right below that member list bar.
New Forum in Forum Help! ·
I’m still running into that exact same issue on my end, and honestly, it feels like nothing is actually being done about it at all.
Is just posting it here enough to get some eyes on it, or should I go ahead and reach out to the moderator PM directly?
New Forum in Forum Help! ·
I’m actually running into a bit of a different issue here: the page just won't load properly for me. I'll get a completely blank screen, with nothing showing up except maybe the very first line where it occasionally says "forum." Sometimes a quick refresh does the trick, and other times I have to hit the back button and try again, but honestly, there are days when I have to try several times or just kill the whole browser and restart it entirely...
But it happens so frequently that I've honestly just given up on it a few times because I simply couldn't deal with the frustration anymore....

The point is to show people acting out of pure stupidity—hate, intolerance, whatever—that their behavior is mindless, and that being productive actually benefits them more than being a jerk...
I get it, we've clearly established our "model" here.

You're right about that. 🙂
You started bringing up neo-Nazis and then moved on to groups like the Royalists, and honestly, those cases are so extreme that I don't think there's any kind of therapy out there that could actually fix them.

However, if we're talking about petty criminals or local hooligans, then yeah, your theory makes total sense. 😁

But even then, the biggest issue remains the complete passivity of the authorities. 😢

Steven Allen9 said:It's all being designed like a matching game; a die-hard Lakers fan gets sentenced to community service at a clinic in Los Angeles... or some radical extremist gets sent to a school for sick kids.
Do you actually think this exchange system makes sense?

Well, I think that approach works fine for minor offenders, but it doesn't really apply to those extreme cases you were bringing up earlier... 😁
Having those Yankees hooligans do service work down in Miami could actually be a pretty solid lesson for them, but dealing with actual domestic terrorists is a whole different ballgame... If we're talking about people who are just starting to get radicalized, then sure, maybe... But for hardened criminals? I doubt that kind of thing would do much good at all. 🤷

Steven Allen9 said:Exactly. Reentry is a disaster for the community because you end up with people who learned how to be even more crooked while sitting in a cell, then they just stroll through a public park with a weapon.
But if you actually send them somewhere useful—give them a chance to help others and make them feel like their effort matters—then reintegration for those who aren't total thugs might actually work. Everything else is just a drain on taxpayers...

Honestly, maybe we don't even need to ship them off to some distant state... Why couldn't staying right here within our own community yield the same kind of positive results?

The real headache, though, is figuring out how to tell the "fixable" cases apart from the "lost causes."

And again, I really think we need to look at everyone on an individual basis, since treating everyone exactly the same way rarely works for different types of people. It all depends on the specific crimes committed, but honestly, that feels like way too much heavy lifting for the folks in charge of making these calls. Personally, I feel like hands-on, physical community service would be a whole lot more effective in most situations than just tossing kids into a juvenile detention center or a reform school.
The only thing is, the absolute worst of the worst—like actual Nazis 😁—don't fit into that mold. For some people, there just isn't any hope left.

The second I laid eyes on that headline, I knew we were headed straight into troll territory. It was obvious as hell that a whole crowd of provocateurs would swarm this thread just to mess with whoever started it, leading to a massive meltdown where I’d end up having to hand out bans like candy.

I’m basically just sitting back, waiting for the circus to start.

So, why did I do it? Why didn't I just delete the thread? Why am I practically inviting the trolls to the party? 🙂

We are Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

Steven Allen9 said:Yeah... something along those lines.
Just enough to make them wake up or at least start having an honest conversation with themselves and realize they messed up.
Sending them to a deserted island or some Small town in Ohio is just for the lost causes.

It’s honestly so hard to tell when someone has truly become a lost cause.
Just because someone hasn't turned into a complete monster yet doesn't mean there's still hope for rehabilitation. You see it all the time—people come out of rehab or finish their prison sentences and just double down on even stupider behavior. To be fair, I'm not surprised by how things play out here in the States, mostly because I wonder what we're actually doing with people like that in the first place.
I don't want to get too deep into the weeds regarding juvenile detention or reformatories since I don't have any firsthand info, but from everything I've heard, it feels like those places are just holding pens where you wait for time to pass. 🤷
What’s the actual ratio of psychologists to inmates? How are they even supposed to provide real treatment?

The whole thing is just a troll thread designed specifically to bait the Moderators into acting. 😁

Look, when you're out there helping someone who's genuinely sick and relying entirely on you, something inside you has to shift. It forces you to drop the aggressive delusions they've been nursing and face the shame of their own stupidity.
What's the point of some expensive facility with four walls if the person inside comes out worse than when they went in?
Charity shouldn't be this soft, superficial thing...
It needs to be visceral. Human.

Are you talking about humility?
Yeah, maybe that could make a difference, but it's not a one-size-fits-all solution...
People like that aren't going to care about the suffering of strangers who don't mean anything to them. But let's face it, everyone has someone they want to protect, in one way or another. No man is an island.🙂

Steven Allen9 said:Obviously he understands certain things, but his hatred is fueled by three main things: his social situation, deep-seated prejudices, and a lack of parental love.
A neo-Nazi doesn't need to become a model citizen after, say, coming back from volunteering in India. When he's over there, his pride in being part of one specific nation doesn't mean a damn thing. He's just a person helping another person. That’s where the story starts. If he actually dives into humanity and realizes that foreigners coming to live in his country aren't doing it because it's "perfect," but because they're just trying to survive, everything changes.
As naive as it sounds theoretically, I think there's a solution to this whole mess.

Personally, I think it would be much more effective to take a guy like that and force him to live alongside the very people he hates, all while being watched by the groups he actually looks up to. For instance, using the example we discussed, imagine if Germans, white Americans, or Catholics were supervising him while he was forced to coexist peacefully with those he considers "lesser."
And then, maybe the people he actually identifies with wouldn't treat him any differently just because he happens to be, I don't know... short, or Black, or because his dad was originally from somewhere else... 😁

I honestly don't know if minds that set in their ways can ever change enough to actually embrace tolerance...

Steven Allen9 said:Alright, let’s break this down a bit more so we actually see what’s happening here;
-you've got this young neo-Nazi kid who couldn't care less about anything outside his own backyard, hopping on a plane and flying halfway across the globe.
The climate hits him like a physical slap in the face first. Then he lands and gets hit by a massive culture shock, staring at people he’s been taught to despise, only to realize he’s the one cleaning up after them, feeding them, and tending to their wounds. Suddenly, all that built-up hate starts reaching a boiling point.
Once enough time passes, he actually becomes someone because he realizes these people genuinely need him.
He finds his purpose because, before all this, he was absolutely nobody.

Personally, I think he might actually turn out even worse, because while he tries to be "someone," those "nobodies" are constantly trying to drag him down to being "nothing." 😁

Why specify a young neo-fascist? Are you suggesting there's still hope for him just because—well, because he's young?
Do you honestly think a guy like that didn't already know that different cultures and customs exist? It’s precisely because he knows about them that he hates them in the first place.
Sure, he’d experience shock, but it wouldn't be the good kind.

Maybe that kind of approach works on some people, but to me, those feel like rare exceptions. Most people are just mean-spirited and malicious... and it isn't even coming from a place of ignorance or a lack of understanding.
Classic aggressive jerk prototype in Psychology ·
I honestly think it all comes down to how warped that kind of mind actually is. That example you brought up regarding the neo-Nazi feels like a bit of a lost cause to me. It seems to me that if you forced someone like that to serve the very people they despise, it would probably just double down on their radical beliefs.
They’d end up feeling even more justified in their views because they're being "humiliated" by people they consider beneath them, which would only fuel their resentment and give them a massive reason to seek revenge.
🤷 I really don't know what kind of punishment would actually be appropriate for cases like that.

Working in a soup kitchen or doing community service—like the stuff you mentioned—might actually work for people where aggression and intolerance haven't reached a breaking point yet. You know, maybe when those tendencies are just starting to surface through minor outbursts or first-time offenses. But the real catch is that we have to notice it, diagnose it, and step in to help before it gets too far gone.
