I honestly don't get people who act like you're missing out by not starting a family early. If having kids was my top priority, I definitely would've had them by now at 33.

Does anyone actually feel the need to be out partying every single weekend?!
Look, I get it. When you're in high school, everything feels wild and new. In your early twenties, you finally break free from your parents, you're in college, you've got your first paycheck from Starbucks or something, and you just want to live it up. But personally? I was already over that whole scene by my early twenties. Especially living in a place like Chicago—the nightlife can get pretty repetitive—so if I were going out now, I wouldn't even know who to go with or where to go. Honestly, I wouldn't even want to. I'd much rather spend my weekend actually getting stuff done.

Wait, why isn't that living? If it works for him, why not?

Then what are you even doing here, you old geezer?

There isn't even a 1% of men over 6'3", especially once they hit middle age.
When you factor in all those other requirements, we aren't even talking about 1 percent. We're nowhere near it.

"But she won't settle for anything less; she deserves someone like that," she read in Gloria.
... meanwhile, she can't even fry an egg.🤦

Well, you could probably find yourself a wife who actually knows her way around a kitchen too.
Honestly, I have no idea where you people find guys and girls who can't cook.
I tend to hang out with actual adults, and most of them don't pull this kind of nonsense without thinking twice.

Then just cut him loose, man!

Seriously though... I don't think anyone in this entire thread has said a single nasty thing about the guy.
Look, he might have some issues, but that's not really the point. What matters is that he’s just not looking to settle down—at least not with the OP—and honestly, that's totally fair.

Sean Kern2 said:That’s because he spent the whole time brainwashing you. Seriously, why did you even get sucked into this kind of relationship with him in the first place?

Look, it's rare for any guy or girl not to start looking elsewhere after four years. Just grit your teeth and cut him loose. If you keep dragging this out, you're going to feel a hundred times worse three years from now than you do today.

Given everything being said here, this isn't off-topic, so let me weigh in. Don't you post on this forum all the time about how happily married you are with two or three little kids? Aren't you embarrassed to be giving advice like this to a girl whose self-esteem is completely trashed? With a real life like yours, what, are you waiting for her to come home to a welcoming committee from Chicago? Real constructive advice there, truly.🙂

Ugh, he's honestly gross. I can see it now—creeping up on every woman like, "Hehe, oh stop, I'm a married man, why are you being so difficult?"

OT, just cut him loose. If you want different things, just walk away. I know it sucks, but it’s way better for your mental health. For whatever reason, he only sees you as a hookup.

Haha, seriously though, that whole "getting married in a few months" thing is such a huge red flag.

They’re just stalling because they’re holding out for something better. Someone hotter, younger, smarter, or just way more interesting...

I despise that we've managed to turn a nation—one that should be capable of leading a war effort and managing hundreds of thousands of refugees—into this.

But hey, it's perfectly clear that you people aren't capable of anything better.

Bravo!
I’d much rather see my fellow Americans actually earning that money themselves. I'm talking about people like Mike, who's running a firm, Sarah, who owns her own shop, or even Jen, working the floor at a local diner. Forget those handouts from abroad—just give people the chance to work hard and earn a real paycheck.

Honestly, my actual survival isn't even at risk (got a steady gig and everything), but the sheer stress of this crazy lifestyle sent my thyroid into total meltdown, and now I’ve gotta spend some serious time getting it back under control.

Imagine how much harder it is for folks dealing with legit, serious health issues...

Where on earth does it say 'a small manufacturer isn't allowed to build a warehouse the size of an IKEA if they turn in the right paperwork and pay off all their investors'?

Our regulations are honestly so bizarre.

Look, just because a small business can't afford something doesn't mean they aren't allowed to. But I don't see why any tiny producer would need something that massive anyway. Even IKEA's first stores weren't huge like this, and they wouldn't be running giant showrooms today just to sell 200 little cabinets a year.
As a business grows, your needs and investments grow right along with it. That's just how it works!

Why would there be a limit? More cash is always better.

I seriously hope you donate every extra cent you make. And please tell me you aren't such a snob that you own more than two pairs of jeans and some sneakers.

Chloe Robinson5 said:The government’s whole job is being a regulator. I'm talking about laws against corporate tax dodging and white-collar crime, not some petty nonsense... Right now, massive corporations basically run the show, and it should be the other way around. I'm not talking about small family businesses—they'd actually benefit from more oversight. It's like comparing IKEA to some local mom-and-pop shop that the state should be protecting instead of just building highways and toll booths for the big guys to use...

The government shouldn't be playing bodyguard for anyone. Their job is to let everyone work and do business without being constantly tripped up (which, honestly, is exactly what the government is doing to tons of people right now).

And yeah, you realize IKEA had to cough up a massive amount of paperwork and cash to make that happen, right? Everyone paid their dues. There are actual laws and regulations in place that dictate how this works. I don't see anything sketchy about it at all. A small producer has the exact same opportunity if they can just get their paperwork in order and come up with the funds.

Chloe Robinson5 said:Yeah, totally. China is screwed too, along with Norway and Switzerland... you can just go ahead and do whatever you want under those "free market" rules there. Just try it...

Who even said they weren't screwed?
Personally, I find the propaganda coming out of China and Scandinavia absolutely creepy.

Switzerland is alright, though.

Chloe Robinson5 said:Maybe try actually studying some 20th-century history... Corporations haven't exactly been doing us any favors, and that wealth gap just keeps getting wider every single year because everyone is obsessed with growth. You can't sustain that long-term without some regulation. HS is basically just a small family business, and the government should be protecting outfits like that. But looking at how things are headed? That "free market" you guys love so much is gonna end up being nothing more than a cheap knockoff produced by some massive conglomerate...

Yeah, it’s awful.

Honestly? I'm rooting for my own company to just stall out or go belly up. 😵

Chloe Robinson5 said:All that's true, but you gotta be poor your entire life for it to actually shorten your lifespan, not just deal with 2 or 3 bad years out of 78. Plus, I think this shows the government stepping up in the economy more, which maybe isn't all bad (not talking about America specifically, just globally). Look, I think the measures are ridiculous, especially how they play out here, but globally we might be seeing a shift that isn't necessarily a total disaster. Even imperial empires collapsed and things ended up better for the little guy than before. Plenty of examples out there...

Yeah, right, because everyone is just dying to have the government stick its nose even deeper into their hard-earned money and businesses 😵 are you guys for real? especially here in the States.

And honestly, do you really think this impoverishment is only going to last for two or three years? How many people had totally solid businesses that are now teetering on the edge? And they definitely won't bounce back that fast, especially with all that "help" and government meddling you're calling for.

Politics needs to get the hell out of the economy.

Carol Barnes36 said:Well, if you're a sociopath, I guess those numbers look pretty small to you.

Do you have any data on the "excess" deaths compared to previous years?

And look, we're an older nation, so it’s totally normal for death rates to climb every year since our population is aging fast.

Plus, Americans generally don't take great care of their health—way too many smokers and people struggling with obesity out there...

Honestly, if COVID didn't have such killer marketing, we'd probably just think we were having a really bad flu and pneumonia season.
