That’s why I said driving is fine, but walking, taking the bus, or grabbing an Uber? Not happening.

Fair enough.
I was just thinking that if he's testing positive, it wouldn't be right for him to be out and about.
Quarantine Life in Coronavirus ·
I get what you're saying.
But if you're just self-isolating without any actual symptoms... then a negative test doesn't really change anything, right? What's even the point?
Quarantine Life in Coronavirus ·
So what are you even going to do with a certificate?
You've gotta stay in isolation regardless of what the test says
Quarantine Life in Coronavirus ·
If he’s sitting in his car while they take the swab, then yeah, he's technically in the car.
If someone's supposed to be in quarantine, they shouldn't be out wandering around—not even to get tested. IMO.
Quarantine Life in Coronavirus ·
I mean, honestly? You probably shouldn't even bother walking, taking the bus, or grabbing an Uber to the test. Just drive your own car.
And hey, nobody’s gonna judge you for that. No one's going to give you a hard time either.
Quarantine Life in Coronavirus ·
Self-isolation is just for anyone pulling in more than $4,250, those $1417
Now you're pivoting to isolation? That's different—that's sick leave, and the employer picks up the tab.

Tried uploading it again... then just nuked it. Mission accomplished.
Nah, nobody's gonna bother responding to my thread anymore. We’re just moving on, right?
Whatever, I just figured a mod deleted it. Honestly, why would they even bother? (Same as always, really.)
Edit
Thanks for the heads up and for clearing that up.
Why was my post deleted? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
For some reason this thing posted twice, so I tried to delete the extra one.
Nothing really happened, at least not like the usual when I try to clear stuff out.
I just got some random notification pop-up—can't remember exactly what it said—about not having permission or something.
Then it just vanished.

Edit
Actually, I just added it back.
If there isn't an issue with it, we're good, right?

Just order a massive stash and call it a day.
Kidding, you guys definitely have better style and probably more cash to stay trendy even with masks on.
I think for people here just trying to make ends meet... buying pricey masks is a real struggle.
Yeah, cloth ones work. But... wouldn't it be way easier if those disposable ones cost pennies instead of like 6-$2.75 bucks?

Why?
What was wrong with the post? Which rules did I break?

No warning, no explanation, no heads-up... nothing.

Here are the lists for the first six rounds (for now).
Check everything from post 18 onwards. (I cleaned up the previous ones a bit)

Both people mentioned in that quoted post are still moderators.

I was messing around with some links earlier, so if you think they'll help... go nuts.

Everything checks out. But honestly, hating someone for no reason just seems kind of pathetic.
I don't even buy into that. (At least not here.)
Instead, I lean more towards the idea that everyone gets it wrong. Even though my post was totally harmless, maybe he read something between the lines? Who knows?
But look, to avoid this whole mess, if you're going to warn, delete, or ban someone,
don't just hide the post in question.
It isn't fair, it isn't right, and it certainly isn't decent.
And just to address your comparison—if he’s the boss... which he is...
...that would imply that *I'm* the one who hates him.
Which just isn't true.
If anything, it's the other way around; the boss might actually hate me, though why? Beats me.

Pretty much. If someone calls you an idiot or a jerk, it really just depends on who’s saying it, how they say it, and obviously the context.
(plus whatever was said before)

It’s happening everywhere, not just there.
It was even explicitly stated that the sub-forum was strictly for landlords and everyone else should stay quiet.
But then the exact same thing happened in the pets section... where the moderator kept insisting that if you don't own a dog, you shouldn't be posting. And the same goes for the housing thread about rentals—supposedly only people who aren't renting or renting out apartments should be talking.
You could practically get banned just for saying "today is Thursday" when you were actually supposed to say "tomorrow is Friday."
In the parenting section, one of the mods was handing out bans left and right whenever someone dared to disagree with his personal views.
Things are definitely better in the tourism section now.
I'm with you that the food section is fine, but... honestly, I've grown to hate posting in those threads because of that one moderator you praised. He deleted one of my posts and used some really nasty insults against me as the reason. To make matters worse, he wouldn't even let the post stay visible so that I—or anyone else—could see what was supposedly so terrible about it.

If I can jump in here, the handyman’s moves aren't exactly doing this Reddit community any favors.
There have been tons of complaints about how things are being moderated, but of course, nothing ever sticks.
He issues warnings, moves posts, hands out bans... all without much logic. Maybe he just loves being a moderator, or thinks he's doing the right thing, but it's clearly not his calling.
Yeah, this was one of those subreddits I used to really love, but honestly... certain things just make you want to walk away.
Regarding flushing gas lines—when I asked if he actually had expertise or was giving advice as a pro in that specific field, I got hit with a ban: "Speculating on users' private information."
I didn't know anything about him, nor do I have any of his personal info... yet there's the ban. According to the mod, you aren't even allowed to ask.
So, basically, the moment you ask a question... you're guilty.
Even when a certified technician says it's a good idea to flush the system—especially when installing a new water heater—some people won't listen. They think they know better, even if it's not their area. Basically, you aren't supposed to ask what they actually specialize in when they tell you something needs to be done or doesn't.
Just asking... that's it.
Ask a simple question, get banned.

My version of self-censorship is basically just making sure I follow the Reddit rules to a T—trying to be polite, respectful, and not offend anyone, you know?
But honestly, I still keep getting flagged. And I don't even get why. From where I'm sitting, it feels like people just can't handle a new face on a thread... so they slap a few warnings on you just to push you out, even if you haven't done anything wrong.
The "inner circle" just wants to stay in their own little bubble. If someone new shows up with a slightly different perspective—even if they're following all the rules and being totally chill—they get booted.
It’s happened to me in several different subreddits; the old-timers basically team up with the moderators to kick you off the thread.
And look, this isn't even about heavy stuff like politics, religion, or crazy conspiracy theories... it's not even one of those heated debates where everyone is yelling because nobody actually knows what they're talking about.
It’s about the "trivial" everyday stuff. Like, if you say, "Hey, I really don't like it when random dogs lick me or leave hair on my clothes," suddenly everyone jumps down your throat. They claim you hate animals or whatever, and then boom—you get a warning. Meanwhile, they’ll spend hours debating which lint roller is best or how to scrub hair off a sofa, but the second you set a boundary, they act like you're the villain.
If anyone outside the "clique" complains about anything, they get shut down, and usually with a strike right after.
Same thing with fireworks. Even if you're saying, "Man, I feel bad for the dogs, these things are awful and scary for all of us," but then you mention that they're legally allowed from date X to date Y... they immediately attack you, acting like you're actually rooting for people to scare pets.
Basically, they twist everything you say and accuse you of things you never even mentioned. Once you realize they just don't want you there, you see that nothing you write will ever be okay.
At that point, you just walk away. Even though it would actually be useful for them to hear different perspectives, they just refuse to listen.
So they drive people away. It's the same story everywhere else, too.
And it’s not great. People just can't handle someone expressing a simple opinion or an impression, as long as they aren't trying to prove some impossible theory.
You have an opinion, and I shouldn't have to defend it. If something bothers me, it bothers me. Why is it so hard to respect that without feeling personally attacked? If I don't want your dog sniffing or licking me, is that really such a big deal?
Does that seriously mean I hate dogs, or animals in general, or people who own pets? That's how they make it seem. They pin all these false labels on you until you just lose the desire to have a decent conversation, share a suggestion, or offer some constructive criticism.🕺

It all depends on the topic... and whether we're talking about a bunch of mindless posts meant just to get under people's skin.
It’s a whole different story when you sit down to write a long post—trying to actually explain something, using plenty of quotes—without breaking any rules, only to get banned because you wrote too much.
Maybe we could encourage people to write better by offering some advice or guidance instead?
A ban shouldn't be the only tool in the shed.
Unless the writer is intentionally stirring the pot, being aggressive, or straight-up insulting people...
That’s what we need to be able to spot. We can't just label everything as trolling or spamming... because honestly, most of the time, it has nothing to do with that.
