stormystag20 said:Hey everyone. As someone trained in educational psychology, there’s this one specific phenomenon I keep running into, and honestly, I can't find a logical explanation for it. It’s actually starting to get a little creepy. I’ve never been the type to buy into old wives' tales or any of that parapsychology nonsense—I'm a science person through and through—but lately, this has genuinely started to rattle me.

Here is what’s going on:

It’s a bit difficult to put into words, but I’ll give it my best shot.

Have you ever had a problem that’s been weighing on you for days, weeks, or even months? Let me use a mundane example, like a massive Biology final. This exam is huge; it’s the kind of thing that determines whether you pass the year or fail. You’re under immense stress, obsessing over it 24/7... and nobody else knows. No one knows you're struggling or how much prep work you're doing. That part is crucial.

Then, the very next day, you’re grabbing coffee with a friend and, out of nowhere, they mention how much they used to love biology. Later, you’re walking down the street and see a sign for the "American Biological Association" on a building. Then, an ad for "Biological Phenomena" pops up in your Facebook feed. Suddenly, you’re seeing this topic everywhere, even though nobody had mentioned it before.

Is it just a case of heightened focus? Like, because I'm stressed about the subject, my brain is just hyper-tuned to notice anything related to it? I thought that was the answer at first, but this has happened three or four times now with scenarios where the mathematical probability of such a coincidence is incredibly low. I don't think it's just selective attention.

Does this phenomenon have a specific name? Is it some version of the "Law of Attraction" or something similar? Again, I want to emphasize that I am absolutely not someone who gets swept up in paranormal theories, but this is catching me completely off guard.

Energy. By projecting those thoughts, you're essentially pulling that "concept" toward you, and it manifests in your reality. As for Facebook (and honestly, the whole online world), they spy on you so effectively that I’d go as far as to say they have telepathic abilities...

I'm fully immersed in it—honestly, in my nickname, the "R" in Dennis Bennett28 stands for romance.

To be fair, I can't quite recall the last time I did something romantic myself... though that might just be because "R" is tucked away at the very end. If I were going by Runol, it would be a completely different story. She’s just better at it.

I once swept someone else's apartment clean—once or twice, maybe? Does that count? Personally, I've always preferred actions over sweet talk. And, of course, high-quality brooms.

Romance isn't lost. I refuse to believe that.
It's just that some of us happen to be a little lost ourselves.

That’s pretty much how I see it too.🙂
Honestly, when I really sit back and think about it, a kid asking a "brilliant" question like that shouldn't be seen as genius or weird at all. It’s just the standard human operating system—questioning everything and trying to make sense of the world from day one.
Kevin Ruiz36 said:My little niece recently posed what I’d call a brilliant question, almost like a tiny philosopher, in front of my Grandpa and Grandma. She asked, "Why does everyone have to have a name?" I knew the actual answer, but I kept quiet; telling her the truth felt like it would just lead to a rabbit hole of more questions she wasn't ready for. Grandma, ever the pragmatist, just told her, "We need names so when we go to the doctor, they know who to call out."

Here is how I see it: A name is simply the first label our parents slap on us to integrate us into the system. It’s the initial tag, around which countless other identifiers are layered over a lifetime, supposedly allowing us to develop a persona. In reality, it's just a way to facilitate our experience of the material world while fulfilling the purpose imposed upon us: functioning as a compliant cog in the machine.

In a way, yes—a name is a tag, an identifier. It’s the bedrock of ego formation...
Think about how a dog responds to its name. It might not grasp the "why," but there's a concentrated burst of energy and intent behind that sound that creates a lasting association. We operate on a similar principle, just perhaps on a slightly more conscious level. Though, let's be honest, most of the time we aren't conscious enough to notice.

Hey everyone, I’ve run into a bit of a roadblock. Someone tried to send me a DM, but they have their private messaging settings turned off. Is there any way to get a hold of them? Feel free to just shoot me a message directly if you know a workaround. Thanks in advance for the help.
