Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
At least we had a monetary expert on this thread providing fresh updates on exchange rates.

Where did they go? Where have they vanished to...?

Michael Ortiz68 said:Sanctions aren't doing a damn thing; the little guy just brings them up out of pure boredom every time he speaks, and at the last briefing, he was practically hawking natural gas to Europe like some old lady at a roadside farmers market.

They don't give a damn about sanctions; they just whine every single day about reopening pipelines because they can't stand watching Europeans freeze.🙏

The fact that they're shipping gas to India and China via non-existent pipelines, that they rely on energy exports to the EU to stay afloat, and that their peak industrial achievement is slapping a cage on a T-62 (which they call "modernization" over there) doesn't change reality one bit.

Instead, let's just look at the exchange rates and see who's actually winning.*

*Not that being unable to spend the ruble anywhere else really matters.

Andrew Booth29 said:You're underestimating how likely a nuclear strike actually is. If Russia pulls the trigger, they won't back down afterward—especially not now, after they've already seized those territories and claimed them as their own. In his speech, he made it very clear: he believes a precedent for using nuclear weapons has already been set.

A true master strategist.

If he's playing on one star.

My forces in Lyman aren't surrounded. They just have the chance to fight on all fronts.🙏

Linda Collins3 said:It’s pretty obvious to me that Americans mined those pipelines. It was clearly meant as a message to Europeans, especially since everyone over there is getting restless about the economy. But what really gets me is how nobody on European news channels even dares to mention it as a possibility. Everyone is just terrified of Big Brother...

If they did it, more power to them.☕

Why does every single topic have to be poisoned by concern trolling about those cursed nukes?

There’s actually a thread about this just a little further down. It could have gone in the alternative section, but I get it—given everything happening with the war in Ukraine, it makes sense where it is.

Just my two cents here—I’d probably offer Putin Russia all the way up to El Paso, because honestly, that guy is totally nuts and you just never know what he'll do.

Are you talking about Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv again? They just left those areas, so I have my doubts.😉

Threatening someone with a nuclear bomb is basically the warfare version of a local bully pulling the "do you know who my father is?" card.

It’s such a waste of bandwidth in an online debate; people only pull it out when A) they've already lost the argument or B) it's their last desperate attempt to feel important.

What is that even supposed to achieve on the non-Russian side? Sorry, but we aren't going to just roll over and hand them whatever they want just because they're waving a nuke around.

Donna Harris11 said:Look, man, this isn't our war. It wasn't our war back in Afghanistan either, even though everyone kept lecturing us with that "America is fighting for freedom in Afghanistan" crap. Same goes for the intervention in Libya or arming insurgents in Syria. We really shouldn't have been involved in those.

The European Union was being constructive enough with the Minsk agreements. That's what should have been enforced. You know, actual de-escalation, instead of whatever Crimea initiatives or sliding British destroyers right up to Sevastopol back in 2021.

It's nothing but escalation, man. Just pure escalation. ☕

You’re probably not going to believe this, but Russia's ambassador to the UN just called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council. Apparently, they want to talk about what they're calling the "illegal seizure of Russian weapons and technology" over in the Kharkiv region.

Bringing up nuclear weapons is just something reserved for the doom-scrollers and the extreme conspiracy theorists.

Honestly, it’s a ridiculous topic.

Andrew Miller102 said:This isn't the first time they've done this, but it seems they've finally decided to go after the power grid, the water supply, and even heating systems. From the jump, Russia focused on rail infrastructure, certain bridges here and there, and almost exclusively targeted the Ukrainian military industry.

I voiced concerns about Kharkiv earlier, but they haven't moved against Kyiv in any massive way just yet.

In short, yes—when you start hitting the entire infrastructure, it means they've flipped the switch to a real war where nobody is holding anything back.☕

Great, it’s much easier to admit you lost a war than to claim some pointless little operation failed. ☕

And more accurate, too.

Rebecca Watson said:Taking back three cities in the eastern outskirts of Chicago is a massive win for the Ukrainian Armed Forces as they push the Russian aggressors back. Of course, the Russians won't admit it—they’re claiming it was just a "strategic withdrawal," which is the same garbage excuse they used when they retreated from Chernihiv, Kyiv, and Sumy. And Kadyrov? In his usual delusional state, he’s out here shouting that the Russians will be hitting Odessa any day now. Honestly, I don't see how things are going their way when the Ukrainians are practically knocking on the door in the Kherson Region. Still, let's be real: liberating Donbas, let alone Crimea, is still a long way off.

That's pretty much how the war will end, with the exception of Crimea.

The Russians will claim victory and say they've demilitarized Ukraine, then leave those "people's republics" to fend for themselves.

They’d honestly be better off taking twenty nukes to the face than being swallowed up by the Russian sphere of influence.

Russians are claiming Ukrainians have struck Enerhodar again, this time using a fleet of 15 small boats.

Those Ukrainians sure seem to have all the luck.
