Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Part 5 in War in Ukraine ·
Nathan Thomas12 said:if that happens, some new guy could just declare war and call for total mobilization overnight.

Look, any new guy coming in is gonna be way too busy cleaning up his own house first—foreign enemies aren't even gonna be on his radar for a long while.

By then, Ukraine will probably be more heavily armed than Israel ☕

Honestly, I'd rather lose a special military operation than deal with an actual full-blown war 😁

Well, whether it turns out to be true or not, I guess it feels like a major reckoning might finally be brewing over in Moscow.

Now we're just waiting to hear if it was a heart attack...👍
Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
brightheron64 said:For a split second there, I found myself looking at these sanctions and thinking they felt like one giant, absurd farce—almost bordering on perverse.

I mean, think about it: Russian gas is still pumping steadily into the European Union (with Ukraine consistently collecting those transit fees), oil is still moving just fine, and a quarter of the EU is out there lobbying for exemptions... yet we’re banning Russian athletes and artists (and by the way, where exactly are 🤔 those people even living these days?) from competing on the world stage.

Honestly, if we’re going to go through with these heavy-duty, hardcore sanctions, then let's actually commit to them and say, "Zero points, you're out," starting right from the very source in Ukraine itself.

The way things are going, it feels like some twisted, distorted version of Fahrenheit 451 where we're essentially burning the works of Dostoevsky and Pushkin using fuel imported from Russia just yesterday. 🙄

You can't just shut off a faucet overnight, but you can definitely turn down the flow. Russia earned a slow decline—makes it hurt more that way.

Don't sweat the Ukrainians too much—as long as the Americans have their backs, they won't have any issues with ammo.

They’ve got nukes ☕

Joshua Myers432 said:It’s hard to compare the two, especially since we’ve essentially layered a new economic disaster—sanctions against Russia—right on top of the economic wreckage left by COVID. For those who lean toward conspiracy theories, the timing and the coincidence are certainly interesting.😉

The real question is how spoiled the Russians have become over the last 20 or 30 years. If the propaganda machine in Europe works this hard, imagine what it’s like in Russia. Brainwashing is incredibly effective for 95% of the population; just look at North Korea.

The big question remains: which side will the sanctions cripple first, Russia or the US/Europe?
Sure, Putin might be removed, but who steps into his shoes? And why would you assume they'd be any better than Vladimir? Vladimir isn't even close to being the worst ruler Russia or the USSR has seen in the last century, so I wouldn't get too optimistic.

This isn't even a debate if you aren't some die-hard fan or trying to play "neutral."

Nancy Gomez26 said:The sheer variety of hardware they're throwing together... it's going to be a logistical nightmare.

It’s gonna be an even bigger headache for Russia, though—just wait and see.😁

Maybe he's thinking of Otis Rush?

He’s definitely not any worse than SRV...
