👍 👍 I’ve decided to open up a thread for all the Stevie fans out there. Personally, I am a massive, massive fan of his—to me, he was hands down the greatest guitarist to ever pick up an instrument. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on him...😁

Stevie Ray Vaughan! Man, I completely blanked on him for a second. I actually have such great memories tied to his music—back when we were in college, we had this one VHS tape of him performing somewhere in Europe, and god, we played that thing until it was practically unwatchable. Plus, the guy I was seeing back then was one of those guitar nerds obsessed with all that stuff, so even after we broke up, I ended up picking up some SRV gear for myself... it’s just one of those things that stays with you. He’s incredible, I mean, the way he just gets lost in the music when he plays? It totally sweeps you away.

e, I was actually listening to Stevie yesterday... ah.... hmm... well LooL.... I would have put a smiley face next to 👍 but I'm not doing it just for someone's sake 😁

Stevie is an absolute legend... The Sky Is Crying... there's nothing stronger... except maybe Hendrix🙂

The way he played Little Wing was simply remarkable—honestly, I’d argue he outdid the original. 😎

I agree that the performance matters a lot, but you’ve also got to write a great song 😉

In my humble opinion, Stevie Ray is easily one of the greatest guitarists to ever pick up the instrument. The man just had an unbelievable sense of feeling...

I still remember catching a "Tribute to SRV" show once, and man, it was incredible...
I wouldn't call myself a huge Blues fan—I usually lean more toward Jazz—but even for me, Stevie was just on another level.

I just finished downloading Stevie and Albert King’s track "Confessin' the Blues," and man, I’m speechless... there's really nothing left to say.

What do you mean Hendrix? There’s simply no one better than Stevie. "The Sky Is Crying"... it might be the greatest guitar tone ever captured, but only on the version from *Blues at Sunrise*. Honestly, Alan, if only you had been at a Stevie concert instead of just some Tribute! I own that *Tribute to SRV* album, and while it isn't half bad, Jimmie is still the best (it goes without saying, of course).😁

You’re totally right about The Sky Is Crying—it hits different when you tip your hat to it. But man, that Red House by Jimmie is on another level. It’s unbeatable Blues. Honestly, I don't think even Muddy Waters or Robert Johnson could touch it. Then again, they were all legends! At the end of the day, Blues is the most powerful thing out there. Peace to all my fellow Blues lovers!

The man truly understood how to master the pentatonic scale. It’s easy enough for anyone to
throw a few notes together, but if you don't really know what you're doing, it can
end up sounding pretty dull. He definitely took a lot of inspiration from Hendrix.
He had this way of blending melody with pure speed—take "Rude Mood," for example—where he managed to
inject that gritty, scorched Texas atmosphere into his tracks, much like he did with
"Couldn't Stand the Weather."

You must be referring to Double Trouble (Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon). While they aren't exactly world-class virtuosos, they certainly get the job done.
