Wage garnishments and collections in Law ·
mellowscout7 said:Hey everyone. I’m in a bit of a bind here and could really use some quick advice. I stopped by JPMorgan Chase earlier today to check if my paycheck had cleared, only to find out that my employer accidentally sent my entire salary to an unprotected account, and now everything has been swept into Fidelity. Is there any way to fix this kind of mess? Also, does anyone know what kind of trouble the employer or their accounting department might face for a mistake like this? I’m honestly feeling a little lost on who to reach out to, so I figured I’d turn to you all... I would be so incredibly grateful for any help you can provide as soon as possible.

Did you actually set up a protected account, and did Fidelity even notify your employer about the account number?
If your boss never got official notice about a protected account being active, they wouldn't have had a way to deposit it there in the first place.

I feel like I'm hearing this story everywhere lately. For some reason, people just stop paying their loans, and then the bank turns around and goes after the co-signers because they signed off on the whole mess in the first place.
Honestly, I’m worried there isn't much you can actually do about it, other than trying to file a private lawsuit to get that money back from the actual borrower.

Eric Lee7, check out this opinion that just dropped regarding the latest Regulation:

Since I'm stuck handling wage garnishments, I've been digging through about a hundred pages of fine print.
I even went and picked the brains of two different lawyers specializing in enforcement law, and honestly? They all said the exact same thing:
we have to follow this while it's on the books, but if someone—maybe one of the big banks or some other entity—challenges its constitutionality, this Regulation probably won't last long at all.

See, in the real world, things aren't always black and white. Life is messy and complicated, and this kind of interpretation just makes everything ten times more difficult.
But hey, that's a whole other conversation.

If you take what’s written on the FINRA website literally:
"FINRA executes levies on citizens' monetary assets, covering all accounts and term deposits across every single bank, based on the debtor's social security number, without needing their consent." If that's the case, it sounds like FINRA can't touch any cash you've got tucked away outside of a bank account.
But let's be real... everything in this country is such a bureaucratic nightmare, and there's always a way to twist the rules to fit whatever agenda they're pushing at the moment.🤷

Look, if you owe the IRS anything, they’re just going to snatch that tax refund right out from under you to cover the tab.
And what makes you think someone wouldn't be able to just pull some cash out at the IRS?
Back in the day, you could even grab cash at the local Post Office, though I honestly can't remember if they still allow that.

Perida2910, look, what I wrote up there was just the take from the CBO and their group of eggheads.
If you ask me, the whole thing feels like a giant game of interpretation—it basically just comes down to who can twist the rules to their advantage.

They can actually snatch more than a third of your paycheck or even the whole damn thing if:
- you signed some paperwork notarized before the Uniform Enforcement Act kicked in back in mid-2008.
- the wording in that document makes it crystal clear—like, it explicitly says you agree to let them take your entire salary or anything over that one-third threshold.

I’m guessing you signed some fine print like that before that date rolled around, basically giving them the green light to take everything.
Where can I find my routing number? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I mean, can't you just see your account number on your online banking app?
I’ve been using my account over at Zabiti for months now, and my routing and account info have been sitting right there on the dashboard this whole time. 🤷
Thanks, Lord, 🙂 I'll give that a shot.
Nicholas King said:Check what paper size is actually set. Is it stuck on Letter? Or maybe the printer itself has Letter set as the default? It’s probably just sitting there waiting for you to "match" the paper size requested by the Word doc, or it might be expecting you to shove some paper into the manual feed tray.

Does the printer act the same way when you're printing from other stuff, like a PDF?

PDFs, XLS files, whatever—they print fine every single time. It's just these specific Word docs that give me grief. Not all of them, just certain ones.
I'll check those paper settings when I'm back at my desk on Monday and let you know. Pretty sure it's set to A4, though.
Thanks 🙂
I’ve been scouring this place already, but I haven't turned up anything like this.
The printer itself works fine—it spits out documents perfectly, no hardware issues or anything. It just keeps nagging me to hit "start" on these specific files.
At first, I thought maybe it was just a margin issue or some weird formatting glitch, so I messed around with those settings for a bit, but nope... nothing worked. Now I'm just stuck digging through more menus.
🤷
Can someone give me a hand here? 🙂
Every time I try to print certain Word documents, the printer just sits there staring at me. It won't actually start printing until I physically walk over and mash the start button.
I've been trying to wrap my head around why this only happens with specific files, but honestly, I haven't cracked the code yet. 😁
Is this some hardware issue—maybe a driver headache?—or is it something about how the document itself is built?
Not sure if it matters, but I'm still running Microsoft Office 2000 on this old rig.
Dealing with the teenage years is a nightmare in Students & Teens ·
Hey everyone, I’m officially joining the "Moms of Teenagers" support group. 😁
I’ve got two teenage girls and a younger son, who's about nine and a half, and he’s already starting to pick up all their habits.
The girls are constantly on edge. Half the time they aren't even talking—they're just screaming at each other, slamming doors, and basically acting out. It drives me absolutely nuts. I get so worked up myself, and then, thirty minutes later, they’re giggling away like nothing ever happened.

And don't even get me started on their rooms. They're total disaster zones. They won't lift a finger until I threaten to go in there and clean it myself; then they freak out because they think I'll toss half their stuff, so they suddenly find the motivation to tidy up.
Honestly, I'm exhausted from repeating the same lectures every single day.
Thank God, school isn't an issue. Their grades are solid, they have good friends, and they actually seem happy to head out the door every morning.

Sometimes in the evening, we'll all sit in the living room and actually talk. We'll dive into everything—school, social issues, movies, sex... and when I hear how they process things, I feel genuinely proud. They think so much more maturely and responsibly than I expected.

But then, literally half an hour later, the mood flips. Everything turns into a massive meltdown or a blowout fight over who gets to be on Meta first, or who stained whose shirt. They start hurling insults like "idiot," "loser," or "stupid"—it’s constant. The house is literally shaking. You can hear them yelling from down the street.

It’s this endless, exhausting cycle. One minute it's all love and peace, the next it's pure chaos and attitude. I'm just worn out, and I keep wondering when this phase is finally going to end.
