I’ve learned the hard way that "the guest is king" usually only lasts for the first forty-eight hours. Once you're living in each other's pockets, the boundaries get incredibly blurry. Does anyone else feel like there should be a formal "expiration date" on how much personal space you have to sacrifice when someone stays with you?

Just try calculating how many tons of bread they’d need to feed that many "soldiers" on a daily basis 😁
I guess I’m mostly just speaking theoretically here, but if we really want to nitpick the situation, you have to wonder how much it actually makes sense for Russia to keep dumping high-end hardware into a conflict involving 300,000 people who aren't exactly elite troops. I mean, does Russia even have enough decent winter gear ready for the reservists they'll be sending out as the months get colder? There are just so many logistical hurdles facing them, and honestly, it might sound a bit more convincing if they had just been upfront about mobilizing a million people instead of trying to spin the numbers.
I mean, who actually believes they’re only going to mobilize 300,000 people? Sure, that number might be written in the official proclamation, but in reality, it feels like the actual amount of Russians being mobilized could end up being way higher—maybe even reaching 1 or 2 million, or honestly, even 10 million. Since everyone has been lying about everything up to this point, I guess it’s hard to say who’s actually guaranteeing that they aren't just lying about this too, right?
I was watching the news on Russian TV today and they showed Patriarch Cyril giving what I guess you could call a "mobilization sermon," basically claiming that "those Ukrainians fighting against Russia are devils that need to be wiped out." It’s honestly just wild to me how much rhetoric someone is allowed to get away with when they're presenting themselves as God's messenger.

They were really hoping for some actual change, you know, like finally tackling corruption or fixing those local infrastructure issues. Instead, I suppose they just got more of the same old political maneuvering and a continuation of the previous administration's policies with all the exact same people running things in New York City.

It seems like every single day it becomes more obvious that he didn't really have any actual projects ready, or even the right people or ideas to actually shake things up here in New York City. I guess before the elections, nobody could have really known that, which is probably why he ended up getting all that support from the business community and folks whose outlook on life is pretty much the complete opposite of what his party stands for.

Protesters managed to disarm about ten members of the local security forces.
They're practically threatening them with a mob justice scenario.

Looks like one protester might have been killed.

Honestly, anything could still happen at this point.
Putin has basically crushed anti-government protests in both Belarus and Kazakhstan, and since those two countries stay pretty close to Putin's regime—much like Uzbekistan and most other post-Soviet states—it'll be interesting to see how Russia reacts, especially since they've moved so much of their military and police strength over to the war in Ukraine.
So, I was reading this interesting deep dive from BuzzFeed News where they basically fact-checked all those claims coming out of the Russian Department of Defense regarding their supposed "wins" in Ukraine. It’s kind of wild when you look at the numbers, because the spokesperson, Igor Konashekov, keeps reporting these massive victories on TV every single day. For instance, back on June 10 Biden, he claimed they had destroyed 215 Ukrainian aircraft, which is pretty crazy considering the Department of Defense says Ukraine only even had 152 planes to begin with before the war started. He also mentioned taking out 84 Bayraktars, which is actually twenty more than what Turkey ever even provided to Ukraine. On top of all that, he’s been reporting these territorial gains constantly; he claimed forces "captured" the town of Kremenna four different times, and then there were these repetitive reports about seizing Novomajorski, Taramčuk, and Borovenka. 😁

I guess Putin basically forced a country he shares such a massive border with to join NATO, which pretty much brings potential nuclear weapons right to his doorstep—the very thing he was supposedly fighting against in Ukraine. It’s honestly quite an impressive strategy if you think about it.
Looks like Recep Tayyip Erdoğan finally gave in! Turkey, Sweden, and Finland have officially signed a trilateral memorandum, which I guess should really clear the path for both Finland and Sweden to join NATO.

I really think we should take a moment to appreciate another wonderful gesture from the brave soldiers over in Ukraine:
The Ukrainian troops actually did a cover of the Battle of Gettysburg 👍
I guess I've been wondering lately whether Russia has actually managed to smooth out some of those logistical hiccups or maybe even shuffled their leadership around since the invasion first kicked off, or if they've just pivoted their whole strategy to focus heavily on Eastern Ukraine instead. It seems like they don't really have an iron grip on any of the territory down south, either, because there's constant shelling hitting those occupied areas.

It’s all about the current political climate, I suppose. It's basically a paraphrase of an old partisan song, especially when you consider those seven generals who sent over that letter demanding pardons for the former intelligence agents.
So, I saw they put up a banner over at Dodger Stadium today that said "The Guy gave seven generals."
