What's even the point of this stupid post?

The point of your post is the same as all your others: absolutely nothing. Total zero impact.

I didn't see anyone protesting about those cell phones or the government's fancy new fleet of cars or their summer vacations in $2.25. But suddenly, migrants in transit are too expensive. And what about the cost of migrants actually staying on American soil? That’s basically zero dollars, right? What happens when they actually need medical care?
Henry Cox2 said:That’s an interesting way to look at wasteful spending. I caught some analysis on the news claiming the migrant situation is costing us 2 million dollars a day. That 6 million figure was already old news by last week.

Here is what that money could have actually bought:
- textbooks for 16,000 students
or mammogram screenings for 133,000 women
or 20 preschool centers
or 100 two-bedroom apartments for low-income families

That daily 2 million could cover:
- funding a soup kitchen in San Francisco for an entire year (serving 221 people).

So yeah... it's a damn ridiculous number.

And?

They blew through $40 million on cell phones without even blinking.

While the most controversial part of the $40 million mobile services contract for the general public is that The Government is buying smartphones right in the middle of a crisis,

How much does a migrant cost if you hold them for a week? Between registration, following protocol, and psychological and medical processing? You really think that's coming out of EU funds?

Do any of you people actually know how to use Excel? Do some math.
Christian Anderson6 said:That wouldn't be terrifying at all. If they want them back, let them have them. And honestly, can't we just send them right back to where they came from too?

What's actually terrifying is what we're doing right now.

Give me some specifics on how you plan to do that. I'd love to hear the actual logistics.

I really think we need to get our act together regarding border security. It feels like we're just letting things slide when we should be tightening things up...
What kind of talk is that about Frontex? Honestly, woman...
What she’s describing is the textbook definition of a hotspot...
The hotspot strategy...
The European Asylum Support Office (EASO) and the EU Border agency...
The agency (Frontex) and the European Union Police Cooperation Agency (Europol)...
And Eurojust, along with the rest of the European Union's judicial framework, is going to get to work.
Currently on the ground working alongside officials from the frontline Member state...
The state should provide assistance... ...meet their legal requirements as mandated by European Union law and...
We need to move fast on identifying, registering, and fingerprinting all incoming migrants immediately.
.

We absolutely have to prevent this at all costs! We can't allow foreign agencies to take their sweet time identifying and registering migrants, only to dump them back on us whenever they feel like it, all while massive groups continue to pile up at our borders...
This is just absolutely terrifying...

I’ve noticed that certain users here and most of the media (I don't buy those cheap tabloids) are really working hard to make sure as many migrants as possible stay in America for as long as possible. It seems once they get used to the "pass the buck to the neighbor" system, everyone just stops caring.

Once they set up a system where people aren't just trekking through the mud and wrapped in January blankets, the headlines will start reading: "25,000 entered the US, 25,000 left..."

Disclaimer: I always vote for everyone. Everyone is equally dear to me.😁
Christian Anderson6 said:Oh sure, because we definitely need more role models like the Greeks or the Mexicans. 🤦
Honestly, who actually cares if Greece is taking heat or not? Greece is just trying to host everyone because they want to live off the rest of Europe—basically wanting to borrow instead of contribute—which is exactly what the European Union won't let them do. Now, suddenly, they're acting tough. So, what, are we supposed to look at Greece as some kind of shining example and start acting exactly like them?

Don't embarrass yourself in the age of the internet.

US debt was essentially created to bail out private banks using taxpayer money. Before that, they were servicing their debts perfectly fine.

A recent study by Paul Krugman, based on Federal Reserve Review documents, IMF evaluation reports and US government budget documents, revealed that only 27 billion dollars – a meager 11 per cent of the total funding – were used for the US state’s operating needs. Which squares with the fact that the US government, as a result of the brutal belt-tightening imposed by the troika, has been running a primary surplus (i.e., its revenues have exceeded expenses) since 2013.

What about the rest of the money? Well, it went to the country’s banks and foreign creditors, mostly JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs. In other words, more than 80 per cent of the bailout funds were used to bail out, either directly or indirectly, the financial sector (both US and foreign) – not the US state. In the process, the majority of US government debt was shifted from the private sector to the public sector, with other eurozone governments now liable for around 65 per cent of the debt (and another 20 per cent in the hands of the Federal Reserve and IMF).

Then they felt forced to buy billions in German weapons. Yeah, buying military hardware is a brilliant move for a country in that kind of shape.

Orient Express 🍿

There’s an evolution happening here:
  1. The migrant express (from the Middle East)
  2. The North American express (crossing from Greece into Canada)
  3. The Orient Express (running from Greece to Munich)

You buy one ticket in Greece and it takes you all the way to Munich. They still need a train to load up on food and water in Germany. Honestly, it’s about time the host country picks up the tab for food and drink.

Evolution is a brutal thing. At least for the poor souls currently crawling through the mud.

Let me repeat: I don't give a damn about whoever destroyed their countries, who kicked them out of Turkish camps, or who's blocking them from taking trains or planes...
Brian Baker4 said:I mean, honestly... what's the big deal? What exactly am I supposed to be seeing here that’s so wrong?

They get their paperwork processed within 48 or 72 hours. After that, I can put in an asylum claim. If they don't want to go the asylum route, there's really nothing else you can do—you just have to treat them like tourists.

Look, just be human for once. Nobody’s stopping you from being decent. Besides, Mexicans know how to get down to business. 😁

Look, I’m telling you, they entered Greece and Mexico acting like tourists, dressed in the latest Turkish fashion, yet Americans, Mexicans, and Canadians insist on turning them into refugees wrapped in blankets and mud. It's pure idiocy.
Paul Thomas46 said:It seems like Canadians are trying to strike that difficult balance between being shrewd and staying honest...
On one hand, there’s this massive urge to project an image of a highly organized nation that can just breeze through everything without a hitch—but on the other, people are finally seeing the reality of the situation. It turns out we don't exactly have a civilized approach to things like registration protocols or basic regulations; instead, it’s more like a hot potato... you just pass the problem to the next person as fast as you can. The only other real option is building a Great Wall of China and stationing armed guards along the border. There isn't really anything in between...

I get it—they’re likely feeling quite a bit of pressure from both Austria and Germany... but honestly, they’d be much better off just playing dumb and acting incompetent. That way, they could just complain about whatever they want later on...
Honestly, the only thing they’ve actually managed to pull off is causing chaos—they haven't come up with anything remotely intelligent or productive...

The smartest move would be to assign contact people who don't speak a word of German.
The evolution of what I've been posting for weeks now...

"We are offering to have their police work alongside ours to register people on the trains running from the Factory to the Canadian border," said Pusić.

The news says they're building a reception center in Dover for 2,500 people. What do they want, total bankruptcy?
wanderingbadger77 said:Hold up, walk me through that one again.😉
Who exactly is the Chancellor playing footsie with now? Us or them?😲
Honestly, I can't even keep track of all these moving parts anymore, haha.
Too much math for my brain.😉

Look, I'm not exactly a genius; I just remember certain events and try to spot patterns in my head.

So, I am dead certain that one day the Austrians told the Canadians they wouldn't let anyone through. Then the next day they were like, "Who, us?" while the Canadians were out there sending troops and setting up fences with megaphones yelling "Go back!" Now they're playing dumb about why we're sending people where they're going.

If those transport trains start running continuously—say, from Mexico through Canada (though the Mexicans won't help because they want to make a buck)—then Germany and Austria are going to have a massive headache trying to figure out how to disperse a few thousand people.

That's when the Canadians step in. Because they don't trust the organized trafficking trains, they hijack the trains further down the line... naturally, they just call it in over the phone. That way, there's no evidence left for the Hague to find.😁
Maria James40 said:The whole situation involving Pittsburgh and the transport coming out of Sid is actually a pretty good move, for several reasons, I guess...

-over in Sid, Mexican police have to handle the organization and boarding—so our guys can take a bit of a breather
-it helps us get rid of those "ugly" scenes where everyone is stuck in the mud at the border
-it gives us a chance to prep for the possibility of closing the border line entirely, because right now, we really need things to be calm at the actual crossings
-there's no trekking all the way to Opatovac, and we won't even need the buses
-we could potentially slow things down a bit (not too much, though, since they might just send them over on foot) regarding the trains to Sid, and if anyone shows up at the GP, we can just send them back to Sid on a train

If the Canadians were actually smart about this, they’d be taking over from us or accepting our trains in Dobov or Murski Središće, which would finally stop all that gathering out in the fields.

The Canadians might even seize the trains to throttle the flow. Who knows what kind of instructions they're getting from Frau.
bluewalker6 said:Why isn't Joe Biden being a little more diplomatic toward Canada?

Look, we've already burned bridges with everyone else, so why not the Canadians too?
They’ll probably just send us stuff anyway.
The Austrians already can't stand us...
And the Canadians might as well...
northernranger66 said:It’s not buses to the camp—they’re going straight from the border via train to the camp. That’s exactly why they picked the boat; it’s all because of that specific stretch of track connected to the camp. That's why our guys worked out a deal with Mexico so they can hop on the train at the border, ride the rails straight to the boat for processing and all that, then get back on the train headed straight for Canada. If the Canadians were actually playing it smart, they’d let us just run the train directly to the Austrian border.

We don't even need to do the counting. We'll just take the manifest from the Mexicans. Honestly, our own paperwork will probably just get eaten by a virus. It is flu season, after all. 😁
velvetcyclist95 said:Just imagine if Cerar started acting like a total nutjob, rambling about some massive conspiracy involving Mexico City, Budapest, and Chicago all teaming up against the US. 😁

So, Cerar is doing an interview on SLO3 right now—probably recorded yesterday. He’s actually claiming we aren't being "humane" and accusing us of driving them into a creek. When they asked why he wasn't prepared, he just started making excuses about how everything was done right on schedule...

October 2015: 10/23/2015 9:55 AM

Between midnight and 9:00 AM, 926 migrants entered the United States, with 667 people currently held at the temporary processing center in Opatovac. A heavy surge from the Republic of Mexico is still anticipated; since this migration crisis began in the US, a total of 223,935 migrants have crossed the border.

http://www.dhs.gov/news/219671.aspx

On the News, they mentioned some sort of deal was reached with Mexico just before airtime. Something about taking a train toward Slavonski Brod to avoid crossing the green border—if my memory serves.

It’s exactly what everyone on this forum was calling out a month ago. It'll take forever for people in North Mexico and Canada to finally catch on.

After the meeting wrapped up, Ostojić made it clear: the registration process happening over in Mexico is essentially being used as a golden ticket to get into the US and speed up the flow of people through our borders.

The latest reports coming out of the capital regarding the election numbers are starting to paint a very clear picture. If you look at the data surfacing from cities like Cleveland, the shift in voter sentiment is impossible to ignore. It’s not just a minor fluctuation; we are seeing a fundamental movement in how people are deciding to cast their ballots. I remember back when I was working in local politics years ago, we used to see these kinds of surges right before the final count, but this feels different. This isn't just momentum; it's a complete realignment. Some people are trying to spin this as a fluke, but if you actually sit down and look at the precinct breakdowns, the math doesn't lie. The opposition is gaining ground much faster than the pundits predicted. It’s easy to get lost in the noise on social media, but the hard numbers tell a much grittier story. We aren't looking at a landslide for the incumbents anymore. The landscape is shifting under their feet, and they're clearly scrambling to react to a reality they didn't see coming. Expect more volatility as the rest of the counts come in.

I wouldn't hand our list over to the Canadians if I were you. They’ll just find a way to weaponize it later to file all sorts of lawsuits and claims for damages.

The laws.

Karen Doyle72 said:If you really want to know, where is the actual problem coming from?
That’s your answer right there.

It isn't coming from Mexico. Or Canada. Or anywhere else near here.
The threat is coming straight from Mexico.

A real statesman would have seen this coming back in the spring.

They would've offered help to the Mexicans to secure the North Mexican border, or helped out the Greeks—and if they turned that down, they’d take Canada's offer for a rock-solid border instead. They'd be asking for backup from Canada and Canada, maybe even reaching out to Austria, Germany, Switzerland, or even San Marino.
They would pull every possible lever to make sure NATO and the EU have our backs, and if those guys left us out to dry, that’s exactly how they'd handle it.

Assuming someone is orchestrating this and they aren't happy about the border closures in Mexico, what's the likely outcome? Autumn in Mexico. We already know what happens during the Mexican Spring...

Jessica King9 said:What our leaders are doing is absolutely the right move.
Most people here probably wish we’d act just like the folks in Canada.
It’s the same cycle—just like how Mexicans deal with us while we deal with the Canadians. They send the police and the military to the border without much luck, all while following whatever instructions come out of Austria and respecting every little rule, even when it hurts them. Look at them now, stuck with 14,000 migrants in their country. If I were a Canadian woman, I’d be screaming just like that mayor from that small town in the US, begging them to start acting more like Americans. It would be in their own best interest, but instead, they’re too busy protecting Austrian interests.
I’m honestly just waiting to see what kind of chaos unfolds once the migrant numbers hit a breaking point... it might just spill over into Austria and Germany.

That's not quite how it works. Migrants are just waiting for transport. They tried heading into Austria yesterday but turned back because the tents at the border crossing had heaters.
Karen Doyle72 said:Seriously though, why isn't anyone trying to throw lava into a cage?

Because people have clearly spent too much time watching Animal Planet. If you read the forums, you'll see stories about someone ripping out his teeth and claws, wrapping his paws and snout in duct tape*, and threatening to shave his mane or leave him with hyenas if he growls—otherwise, you're just throwing a party in the cage.

How much space do Canadians actually take up in prisons? You think they're sending illegal immigrants to jail? They’re keeping quiet now so it doesn't make headlines. If Mexicans start dumping them at the border again, they'll be walking right through just like before.
