Since I haven’t touched birth control in about two years, I’m honestly out of the loop regarding what’s actually on the market these days... To be completely honest, I made the decision to stop taking them because I started developing visible veins in my legs, and I was genuinely worried about the risk of thrombosis. So, I suppose I’m wondering if there have been any recent advancements... specifically, if there are any newer pills out there that are much better managed when it comes to those kinds of vascular concerns?
That feels completely normal to me, though even after being with my boyfriend for a really long time, I still find myself feeling incredibly self-conscious about it 🙄 honestly, I can’t even bring myself to do Pilates anywhere except at home for that very same reason... I worry that certain movements might cause things to "escape" unexpectedly 🤣
Oh, this is such a fantastic find! Thank you all so much for sharing this discovery with me! 😍 I am definitely going to give it a shot... hopefully I won't end up being one of those people who accidentally burns everything 😉
Jamie Davis17 said:So, I just stumbled upon the thread about protection and noticed this one too. Basically, contraceptive vaginal inserts are a pretty well-known alternative... if you aren't able to take pills anymore, you might want to look into this option. In my case, I used Pantex.
Oh, really?! I wasn't even aware something like that existed... 🙄 How does it actually work? edit: I finally found the right thread 😉 but just like Elizabeth Palmer2, I am curious about the price...
Is there a higher likelihood that I’ll end up gaining weight or losing weight once I finally stop taking birth control? It seems like most women start taking them specifically to put on a few pounds... at least that was my experience. Now, I'm feeling a bit anxious that those hormonal shifts might cause me to pack on the weight again 🤷
My hormone levels are actually looking fine for now, though my antibody counts are elevated. According to my latest lab results, I’m eventually headed toward hypothyroidism, so for the time being, it's just a matter of regular monitoring... My mother had her thyroid removed, so I know this runs in the family. Until things progress further, I'll just be keeping a close eye on everything with my doctor.
Well, I suppose that's true, but they haven't actually prescribed any medication for me just yet... It isn't as if I'm being stubborn or refusing to take them if they do 🙄
My doctors aren't keen on putting me on the pill since everything else seems to be functioning just fine... I'm just dealing with a high antibody count at the moment. I have to be extremely careful about pregnancy so it doesn't affect the baby, though honestly, I'm in no rush to start a family quite yet 😉

Look, I have no intention of forcing my doctors to just pump me full of pills... things aren't quite that dire yet. I'll start the medication later on, especially since I'm hoping to get pregnant down the road. For the time being, they've just advised me to keep an eye on 🙄
It is exactly the same situation for me... just constant cold, constant grayness, and I am honestly getting so tired of it. Nobody really believed me at first, but my feet were like ice blocks—I was absolutely freezing... I finally went in to get my thyroid checked and, sure enough, there it is—high antibody counts. The thing is, even though I’ve finally pinpointed the cause, I haven't started any medication yet, so I'm still shivering... but at least now I know why 🤣
Olivia Cox77 said:Well, have you considered trying something different? Like, maybe one of you uses a diaphragm while the other uses condoms? That way, you both get your own 🙂 . Apparently, once you get used to using a diaphragm, it isn't even that big of a deal...
I’ve actually given some thought to the diaphragm method, but it doesn't seem very common here in the States... and since I haven't spent much time researching it, finding things like the necessary spermicide or other specific supplies feels like quite a challenge... 😢
I feel like I would have reached my breaking point with condoms by now, but honestly, I just can't deal with using them constantly... and besides, I’d much rather just let my partner enjoy himself without all that friction 🙄 but I wanted to get your thoughts—how reliable is it really to just "watch" the cycle and then rely on a condom during my fertile window?
Well, the title pretty much says it all... Since I’ve been dealing with varicose veins, I’ve been "playing around" with birth control even though I knew deep down it wasn't the smartest move. That is, until my doctor flat out told me I need to forget about the pill entirely, otherwise I'm looking at some serious vascular issues... I'm honestly feeling a bit lost right now. I've been in a committed relationship for seven years, but condoms cause this painful irritation for me, and getting pregnant is currently "off the table" because of my thyroid condition—my doctors have made it clear that I can't risk a pregnancy without medical stabilization first. So, I'm stuck in this sort of limbo... please, just don't suggest abstinence as a solution 🙄 tracking fertile and non-fertile days isn't reliable enough for me, and I really don't know what my next move should be... any (constructive) advice would be so appreciated 😉
I first started taking Triquilar when I was nineteen, back during those formative years while my body was still finding its shape. Before that, I was honestly quite thin—maybe around 108 pounds—with very little curves to speak of, just slim legs and nothing else. Now, six years later, I’ve settled at about 117 pounds, but most of that weight has redistributed into more defined curves. I wouldn't say I have huge breasts or a massive backside, but they definitely gave me some shape, even if I haven't gained much since those initial few pounds...
Well, I’m currently taking a little breather myself, but when I eventually get back into them, I’ve been thinking about focusing on the Trinity nuclear tests this time around. Honestly, I haven't come across a single one so far that felt even remotely accurate to me... everything I've looked at just made my stomach turn...
