Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Does anyone happen to know if it’s actually possible to donate blood voluntarily while I'm on the pill?
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Hi everyone—I’ve been scrolling through all these posts, and honestly, seeing the sheer volume of side effects and complications listed here is quite something. If I were to add anything to the existing discussion, it would be this: we are all fundamentally different, and what works for one person might be a total disaster for another.
I actually have a question, though more than that, I’m looking for some outside perspective. I’ve been on Yasmin for about five months now. When the media frenzy surrounding it reached its peak, I decided to go to my gynecologist—purely as a preventative measure—and asked for a full screening to see where I stood. Since I was also dealing with a bit of a cold at the time, 😁 my lab results came back fine, with the sole exception of elevated triglycerides. My doctor told me I could safely continue with the pill. Personally, I haven't had any issues with Yasmin—no weight gain, no libido problems, and no mood swings—well, if I even have them, I wouldn't know (I suppose I'm naturally a bit neurotic anyway, so it's hard to tell 🥳). I originally started Yasmin for contraception, but it has also helped significantly with my cycle; I practically don't experience PMS anymore, and my periods are much less painful and lighter. Now, here is the part that has me feeling incredibly conflicted. My gynecologist suggested I stop taking Yasmin until we figure out whether the recent controversy is just a marketing ploy or if those yellow pills really are a global health concern. Instead, he prescribed Trinovum. This was my first time hearing of Trinovum, and from what I’ve gathered during my own research, it’s considered an older generation of medication. It involves a three-phase regimen without that standard week-long break, and I kept stumbling upon comments online asking, "Is anyone still prescribing that?" I even looked up the composition comparisons—Trinovum apparently has ten times more progesterone than something like Logest—and now I’m left wondering: is my doctor being a bit dim? If Yasmin hasn't caused me any harm, why on earth does he want to switch it, and why specifically Trinovum instead of something more modern? He’s an older gentleman, and his sister even mentioned that Trinovum is very common in their practice. To me, that sounds like he just prefers prescribing it to everyone. I’m curious to hear your thoughts because I have no interest in "shopping around" for different brands, but I am wondering if anyone here has actual experience with Trinovum? Should I be looking for a second opinion or changing doctors entirely? Maybe it sounds spoiled, but I’ve always believed that my doctor owes me his undivided attention and that I have every right to question his decisions. My sister keeps insisting that "all pills are basically the same," yet he is quite adamant about Trinovum. ☕
Sorry for the wall of text; all this conflicting information is genuinely confusing. 🙂 I’m currently in my placebo week and should start my period this Thursday, so I need to decide on my next move. I don't feel like it's worth making a break from the pill for just one month. Also, one quick technical question: when switching to a new type of pill, do you start the new pack on the first day of your period, or on the eighth day when you would normally start the next pack?
Thanks in advance to anyone who cares enough to read this and provide some constructive feedback. 🙂
A Happy Child - Igor Mirkovic's Film in Music ·
So those are the signs scattered all over town! Aha... I had a hunch, but the memory just wouldn't surface. Where is the movie? When does it drop? 😕 I’m definitely going to see that.
And who actually paved the way for these new bands? It isn't exactly easy for me to line them up chronologically—not that I’d want to get involved in that particular debate anyway

I was just a kid myself back then—honestly, I don't recall much from that era at all😢
but the film is excellent...

nimbletiger68 said:Look, I usually find these copy-paste threads on forums incredibly tedious—really quite beneath us—but since the OP specifically requested them, fine, here we go. This is my personal favorite from Queen’s discography...

Chasing a quiet vow through the city streets
A jacket tossed over my shoulder, just a casual thing
Yesterday's newspaper gripped in my hand
I don't look much to good, but frankly, I couldn't care less
I duck into every local dive bar I pass
Ordering a glass of wine or some bourbon there
Just keeping an eye out so I won't be late
And before I even say goodbye to her
I'll lightly brush my lips against hers
We slip away together into the night
She wants me to speak in whispers
To keep my problems from sounding too grand
She just wants to live with the one she loves
She looks at others while thinking only of me
She confesses that she’s already married
That she isn't being faithful to her husband
While I stay silent, playing the wise man
Her fingers seem to be searching for someone to blame
They just dance around my face
"Good grief, man, what's wrong with you?"
I discreetly mutter about catching a movie
It's miserable outside, but cozy in here
Paying top dollar for these boring hours
My heart aches thinking of you
She buys me popcorn then
Peanuts and salty snacks
She really goes out of her way to please me
While all around us, people are starving
The scent of old trash lingers behind us
God, what a terrible movie
Midnight approaches as the show plays on
We head to the car and move along
Out past the city limits, there's an open field
A beautiful spot on the edge of town
Making love while the air grows heavy and thick
A harsh light shines directly down upon us
It isn't right—it's a train coming
I grab the wheel and floor the gas
Cold sweat trickles down my neck
Paranoia
We flee into the darkness

That happens to be one of my favorites as well.🙂

So, here are a few of mine...

I love you when you speak
In all this madness of ours
Illusion loses its veneer
Stripped down to the very bone
Becoming reality
A forgotten ache
I have no desire to pull you away
Too far

Words like a fairy tale
Quiet the storm within
Don't worry, someone remembers
Every single moment of the year
All the walks and the conversations
And yet you're still wondering
Believe me

Watch my girl
Walking down the street
Do you notice the color
Upon her cheek?
Today is the first
Day of spring
And she is basking in it
As if it were
The last

I’ve been sitting here reading through everything you all have posted, and I honestly can’t decide if I actually want to respond or just stay silent—it’s a toss-up, really. But then that bit about people being overly sensitive was the final straw for me. 😁
And seriously, what was with the crowd at Times Square? It felt like almost nobody there was actually from out of town; it was mostly just local kids from the suburbs—high schoolers, no less—who clearly had nothing better to do with their afternoon since they obviously weren't in class.
I still find it absolutely impossible to believe they actually let Thompson perform. It’s such a typical move for a true American. I’m genuinely curious, though—did this particular American show up for free? Does anyone actually know if he was even getting paid for this?
