Honestly, I can’t even picture my younger years without Queen.

I always saw Branimir as more of a poet than just a singer—Johnny was such a hyper-productive genius. He basically soundtracked my entire life, and I’m definitely one of those obsessive fans who knew (and maybe still knows, though I’m getting 🙂 older) every single lyric from their discography by heart.

If you need proof of how much of a fanatic I am, just look at the fact that I actually own their first single. I know a ton about the band members—even some of the personal stuff. I’ve got old original photos floating around. I used to know exactly what kind of car Leiner drove, his daughter's name, where he worked at Vosku. I know where Stulic’s sister lives, what Johnny likes to eat, which girls he was seeing before things went south. Even which basement they used to practice in...

But honestly, none of that really matters now.
Because back then, I traveled all over this great country, and it always blew my mind how much Queen was embraced—everywhere. From the high-end urban crowds and the total losers to the tough guys, out in the rural areas, and even among the regular folks in quiet towns...

I thought it would be cool if you guys jumped in with a song or a specific lyric from them. Feel free to keep the thread going or quote something else from the catalog—whatever mood you're in, even just a fragment works.

So, I'll kick things off:

* * *

And outside the rain keeps pouring
Nothing new under the neon lights
The bartender, with a bottle of God
Chasing away the debt

I tell the girl we're strangers
Just like Morrison said
Lonely outsiders
A half-world

And she keeps listening to me
Drinking beer, Spit, and smoking
Staring off into the distance
Into the night

Branimir went on the defensive, just like everyone else who lives by the book.

Middle East
------

one day I'll just vanish, gone for good, leaving no trace behind
the friends I think I know will become total strangers when I walk by
it'll be like I never even existed in this world at all
like her body never even wanted me in the first place

my gear is just sitting there gathering dust when it should be rocking out
those trendy, modern girls don't show up to the parties anymore
I'm shaving my beard and mustache just to look a bit more punk
if I still had a Fender, man, you should see the shows I could play

oh, my Middle East, be strong for me and stand tall

we're just people, cursed by fate like we're outcasts
there's always someone lurking around, looking to cause trouble
even the bands aren't what they used to be back in the day
so I'm just over here, amateur style, getting ready to record

oh, my Middle East, be strong for me and stand tall

🙏 🙏 🙏

I wish you were more like them
those rugged, bearded guys
who can get you back on your feet
offering up smokes and whiskey
with a bruise under your left eye
shouting out those terrifying slogans
a true beatnik, a real anarchist
so take the other path, you Ram

Man, these lyrics are killer! Such beautiful cynicism... honestly, my favorite mood.
I'm not quite as obsessed as you, Nicholas Reyes29, but I love Queen.
I just can't stand reading anything from the Middle East, let alone hearing it. I guess the constant overexposure just soured it for me...🙂

Look, I can't stand the copy-paste games on this forum, but since the OP specifically asked for it, here we go. This is my favorite track by Queen...

Chasing through the city on a silent vow
Coat slung over my shoulder, just how I do
Holding yesterday’s paper in my hand
Don't care if I look a mess, it wasn't planned
I duck into every local dive bar I find
Grabbing some wine or bourbon to unwind
Then I'm watching the clock so I won't be late
And before I even say hello to my fate
I'll give her lips a soft, gentle touch
We head out together, wanting too much
She wants me to whisper, keep my voice low
Not making a scene about my problems, you know
She just wants to live with the one she loves dear
Looking at others while thinking of me being near
She confesses her husband is waiting at home
That kissing him isn't where her heart wants to roam
So I stay quiet, playing the wise man role
Her fingers wander, searching for a soul
Tracing patterns all over my face
"Hey, honey, what's wrong?" I ask with grace
Quietly mentioning a movie we should see
It's gloomy outside, but cozy as can be
Spending big bucks on boring hours of life
Thinking of you, despite the stress and the strife
She buys me popcorn when the mood is right
Peanuts and pretzels for a cinematic night
She really tries her best to please me, it's true
While hungry strangers watch us both, passing through
The rustle of wrappers, a scent in the air
Good lord, what a terrible movie is playing there
Midnight approaches, the show carries on
We hop in the car and we're moving on
Out past the city limits, a field lies ahead
A nice little spot where the shadows are spread
Making love while the air grows thick and heavy
Bright lights hitting us, breaking the levee
It's not right, because there's a train on the track
I grab the wheel and floor it, no looking back
Cold sweat dripping down my neck
Paranoia
Fleeing into the dark

"...good grief, what an absolutely terrible movie, oh my god..."

" just take me away with you
do everything you can
just take me away with you
grace"

Pay attention to the last part
---------------------------------

pay attention to the last part
and lie down here next to me
forget everything you know
just relax now
don't waste your time
I love you
love how you touch my soul
and I don't get why it bothers you
don't worry about it
pay attention to the last part
and you'll remember it for a long time
pull another puff
breathe in the will to travel
and take my hand
I love you
love how you touch my soul
and I don't get why it bothers you
don't worry about it
pay attention to the last part
keep me inside you
I feel like I'm wandering through the terraces of consciousness
something inside me is splitting
I love you
love how you touch my soul
and I don't get why it bothers you
don't worry about it

you and I are just drifting through the night
my whole city was letting out this low, heavy groan
there’s no turning back from the road ahead of us
I could hear music echoing from somewhere far off
fa fa la si mi ti
fa la ti
the streets feel cold and completely empty
it’s a clumsy, awkward thing, trying to love someone out here
I’d give you absolutely everything you ever wanted
let’s take our pride and fuel it together
fa fa la si mi ti
fa la ti
just touch me once, darling
my dear
just one touch
go ahead and strip away my pride, sweetheart

😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁

nimbletiger68 said:Look, I usually find these copy-paste threads on forums incredibly tedious—really quite beneath us—but since the OP specifically requested them, fine, here we go. This is my personal favorite from Queen’s discography...

Chasing a quiet vow through the city streets
A jacket tossed over my shoulder, just a casual thing
Yesterday's newspaper gripped in my hand
I don't look much to good, but frankly, I couldn't care less
I duck into every local dive bar I pass
Ordering a glass of wine or some bourbon there
Just keeping an eye out so I won't be late
And before I even say goodbye to her
I'll lightly brush my lips against hers
We slip away together into the night
She wants me to speak in whispers
To keep my problems from sounding too grand
She just wants to live with the one she loves
She looks at others while thinking only of me
She confesses that she’s already married
That she isn't being faithful to her husband
While I stay silent, playing the wise man
Her fingers seem to be searching for someone to blame
They just dance around my face
"Good grief, man, what's wrong with you?"
I discreetly mutter about catching a movie
It's miserable outside, but cozy in here
Paying top dollar for these boring hours
My heart aches thinking of you
She buys me popcorn then
Peanuts and salty snacks
She really goes out of her way to please me
While all around us, people are starving
The scent of old trash lingers behind us
God, what a terrible movie
Midnight approaches as the show plays on
We head to the car and move along
Out past the city limits, there's an open field
A beautiful spot on the edge of town
Making love while the air grows heavy and thick
A harsh light shines directly down upon us
It isn't right—it's a train coming
I grab the wheel and floor the gas
Cold sweat trickles down my neck
Paranoia
We flee into the darkness

/[/url]

That happens to be one of my favorites as well.🙂

So, here are a few of mine...

I love you when you speak
In all this madness of ours
Illusion loses its veneer
Stripped down to the very bone
Becoming reality
A forgotten ache
I have no desire to pull you away
Too far

Words like a fairy tale
Quiet the storm within
Don't worry, someone remembers
Every single moment of the year
All the walks and the conversations
And yet you're still wondering
Believe me

Watch my girl
Walking down the street
Do you notice the color
Upon her cheek?
Today is the first
Day of spring
And she is basking in it
As if it were
The last

A few lines of my own...

I love hearing you talk
in all this madness
the illusion fades away
stripped down to the bone
becoming reality
a forgotten ache
I don't want to pull you
away

words like a fairy tale
calm the storm
don't worry, someone remembers
every moment of the year
all the walks and talks
while you're still wondering
trust me

watch my girl
walking down the street
do you notice the color
on her cheek
today is the first
day of spring
and she's enjoying it
like it's the
very last

*applause* *applause* *applause* *applause*

Tribute bands like Queen: 😱 👎 🙂

Just step up and do what you're supposed to do
You actually know your stuff
You aren't some idiot—there are plenty of those out there enough
Don't lose heart now
Spit on your own face and man up
It’s time to make some noise and let people hear you
Spit on your face, spit it right in their eyes
Don't just sit there fumbling around
_____________________________

Times are tough, my old friend
Our marks are left all over these walls
We're just circling around like stray dogs
Girls don't even give us a second glance anymore
Their hair just drifts in the wind, full of longing
The road to eternity is a long one
And we're crossing it in silence, just keeping the peace

Hey man, remember her? Tell me something about her...

________________________________

Honestly, I just don't care
I'm not scared
There isn't a damn thing I can do to help any of us
I couldn't care less about all this petty backstabbing and drama
Or the money we need just to survive
I just don't care
I'm not afraid
I can't help anyone among us!!

Look, the Ram and those Middle Eastern tracks aren't really Johnny's songs—they're more like Hus's. Honestly, it's pretty hard to tell who wrote what since there were so many different band variations floating around back when Queen was first getting big.

I honestly don't know
what I'm supposed to do with myself
or where my head is even at
but I'm kind of working on this song
about you

just staring at your body
going crazy over it
and just repeating one thing
over and over again
so just kiss me
run your fingers through my hair
and hold me tight
kiss me
pull me close and sing to me
if you know how
anything at all

Honestly, for everyone living in Chicago—whether you just moved here or have been around forever—this is one of those absolute gems dedicated to the Windy City. Johnny just nailed that specific feeling I used to find myself in all the time, way back in the day.
sung with such a gentle touch;

when Chicago wakes from its sleep
two conductors wait for the ride
to lead them to the depot
to break the crisis with a rod

when Chicago wakes from its sleep
there aren't any freaks around
no more freaks left to be found
when Chicago wakes from its sleep

Man, I love this stuff. I'm just waiting until I get my own dorm room or maybe a little apartment after high school, and then it'll be him, and that vibe, and us, all together...🙂

Anyway, yeah, I'm a huge fan of Queen. I think Queen was definitely my first real musical love. (Thanks, man!🙏 )

It’s not like I’m a huge fan of Johnny (I definitely prefer Nigel Cameron), but seeing him mentioned in the headline like that has been driving me absolutely crazy lately...

Johnny said:

Oh, my god...
This is rough, man.
Just leave me alone...
I'll show you!

I handed out the blessings and then just checked out
today
I spent forever searching for the shoreline
it had that
shade of my paychecks, but I just couldn't track it down
then some
guards started coming after me
beating me senseless with iron against my head
honestly, such a stupid way to end the night

I am reading this Sunday editorial which explicitly states
that anyone who doesn't share this opinion is simply slandering and lying,
labeling them as people lacking both substance and vision.
They try to shove these black-and-white truths down our throats...
...
I haven't listened to Queen in years, yet I still know ninety percent of their catalog better than most.
