Does anyone else just completely glitch out when they’re talking to cashiers? Like, I literally just want to ask how much something costs, and suddenly my brain just goes; Uh... uhhh... mmm... uhh... and then she’s just standing there, staring me down like; Do you need a number? What do you need? Uhh... mmm... uhh... do you need a size or what? Just let me finish telling you what I actually want, maybe then you'll hear me.
Honestly, nobody does baked beans like they do. I’m serious. It’s a straight-up masterpiece. If those beans had a damn pulse, I’d probably fall in love with them.
I just finished some baked beans and bratwurst for lunch. I usually grab a bite at the diner over by the Sava River, and from what I can tell, a bunch of you guys hang out there too, right?
Here’s a thread about what we all got up to today. I can't help sticking my nose into everyone else's business. So, skip the small talk—just give me a few lines or a whole manifesto.
Where did your mind wander today regarding your ex? Maybe you were picturing them at the intersection of Gajeve and Katančić streets at 3 AM, selling themselves under Clouseau's balloon while waiting for some desperate loser with a tiny ego? Or maybe you ate some sketchy fish and now your stomach is doing backflips, giving you diarrhea on a legendary, Pompeii-level scale? Did you spend the day wandering through some bright, flashy mall, hunting for a sense of home that just isn't there? Did you curse out some lady who shoved her way onto the bus, making you miss your stop? Did you deal with someone's bullshit and, thanks to your incredible bladder control, climb onto a roof in downtown Chicago and pee on pedestrians, hoping they'd just think it was raining? Did you step on a cat? Were you at the grocery store pestering the clerk about the exact ingredients in the multigrain bread?
I absolutely trashed myself with booze last night. It was then that I truly realized the greatness of Šeksov and his culture of selfless, altruistic alcoholism. Then I hit the sack, and I've spent the entire day lying around, jerking off about five times. I even dedicated one of those sessions to some girl on this forum who posts pictures in that amateur thread.
Dennis Cooper3 said:stormytinker40, you should probably head over to your local Small Business Administration office and ask them about setting up a sole proprietorship with full-time employees. If I recall correctly, in that specific setup, you aren't on the hook for those heavy payroll taxes—you just handle the standard income tax and local surcharges based on your revenue. Another way to kick things off might be to handle those initial freelance gigs through independent contractor agreements instead.
On a different note, regarding those Chamber of Commerce fees... I recently received a notice from my local trade association, and apparently, we aren't required to pay those membership dues during our first year of operation. It seems like my billing statement was generated automatically by their system, so now I’ve somehow ended up subscribed for an entire year...
Carol Price4 said:Your best bet would be to just set up a sole proprietorship... basically, you can't make more than $50 a year, you can't deal with sales tax registration, and you can't get into retail or restaurant stuff...
If you check all those boxes, it’s definitely your cheapest route.
While you're working, you'd pay income tax quarterly—and then handle your social security/contributions once a year based on your total annual earnings...
I’m reading through this and I’m still totally lost. Since I already have a regular job, am I actually required to shell out those monthly contributions of $667 every single month? Like, seriously? 🤷 What happens if I land some freelance gigs one month but nothing the next? Or what if my side business just goes completely dead for six months straight? wtf?
Let’s say I set up a small side business—something I only pick up when a gig actually lands on my desk. What am I looking at in terms of monthly overhead? My apologies in advance, but I honestly don't have a clue how any of this works.
Suppose my annual revenue swings wildly—one year it’s $1,000, the next it’s $10,000, then maybe $100,000, or even $333333. How does that all play out? These sole proprietorships are a total mystery to me.
EDIT: Let me rephrase. What I really mean is I want to dip my toes into the entrepreneurial world, maybe eventually scaling up to a full-blown LLC.
The reality is, I have zero idea if this business is actually going to take off or just tank.
My grandma’s sister lives out in Canada and doesn't have any kids. She never used to invite us out there—back in the day, she’d maybe call my grandma once every couple of years. But ever since her husband passed away, she’s on the phone with her almost every single day. Honestly, the woman is shady. On one hand, she’s telling my grandma she left the whole estate to the church, but then she’s sending photos of this massive mansion in a high-end neighborhood in Toronto. I’m not gonna lie, I wouldn't mind seeing a piece of that action myself. 😬
Donna White50 I see your posts all over this board. You seem like a decent enough person, really, but since you’re constantly bringing up psychopathy, I feel like I have to push back on a few things you've said:
Donna White50 said:Have you ever actually screwed someone over in your life? Like, stolen from them or trashed their reputation without feeling a single shred of guilt because you felt entitled to do it...? Do you think it's okay to just steamroll over people to get what you want...? Or like, would you pull the lever on that trolley problem to kill one person just to save five...? What kind of moves are you actually capable of making to get your way...? Do you even have real friends in your life...?
Honestly, I think you've watched way too many movies and now you're just trying to make everything about yourself...
Would you step on people if it meant making life better for your own kid?
Do you think it's right to, say, divert a train that's about to hit five people on the tracks just so it kills one person on a different track instead?
What if that runaway train is carrying 100 passengers toward a cliff, but it's headed straight for your child? Would you switch the tracks then?
Do you actually have friends in your life?
Can you say with 110% certainty that you have even one "real" friend out there (setting family aside)?
And finally, since you love playing these games with questions you think reveal psychopathic traits—based on the answers to my questions, are *you* the psychopath?
Karen Doyle72 said:Look, that was just an example so you could see what the thing actually looks like, you can find them all over $67. But, it's way easier if you're dealing with a laptop. Anytime you want, just grab a USB connector—basically an external enclosure.
Just one heads-up: make sure those external enclosures ask you to format the disk when you plug them in for the first time.
Awesome! Thanks a million!
Just one more thing; creating a new partition isn't going to mess with my SSD's performance, right? Is it safe to go ahead? I'm thinking about leaving 100 GB on the system partition and carving out another 120 GB for a new one.
Karen Doyle72 said:1. Honestly? You can do whatever you want. 😁 2. Just grab or borrow something like this: https://www.startech.com/HDD/Duplicators/?page=all And hey, if you happen to be near Indianapolis, I might even let you borrow one.
There's a good chance you'll be able to just plug it in and see everything in File Explorer like normal. If that fails, though—then you'll need to dig into some recovery software to get the job done.
I didn't even see your reply. 😁
Thanks, but man, that’s a little pricey. 😁 Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near Indianapolis.
Larry Ortiz5 said:1. Honestly, it’s pretty subjective—some people prefer splitting things up while others just stick to one big partition, so there isn't really a "right" answer. For instance, I have a 120GB SSD where I just kept one single partition, but I have a 1TB HDD that I split into two parts—one specifically for games and another for downloads and stuff.
2. Well, like I mentioned before, just plug that old hard drive into another computer that already has Windows installed—actually, since you just got your SSD, you can probably just plug it right into your own machine now. If it doesn't show up in My Computer, maybe try booting from a Linux live USB? If it still won't show up after that, well... you might just be able to toss it in the trash.
My bad, I forgot to mention I'm working on a laptop. So, this SSD is actually the only drive in my machine right now. Does partitioning an SSD actually mess with its performance? I'm asking because most people seem to use them strictly as system drives.
2. Look, like I told you before, just plug that old hard drive into another computer that already has Windows installed. Since you bought that SSD, you can hook it up to your current rig. If it doesn't show up in My Computer, try booting from a Linux live USB. If even that fails, honestly, you might as well toss it in the trash.
