No, definitely not!!

It seems that all nine students—each one individually—contracted the virus directly from their parents.😒

I suppose I couldn't say—one would probably have to ask those who made that decision.

I mean—Madison Square Garden and NYC are absolutely packed; you can't find a single parking spot, people spend an hour over a single coffee, and then they're out drinking late into the night. But sure, let's just blame the schools. In my fifth grader's class, everyone caught COVID, yet there was zero transmission between the kids themselves—they all picked it up from their parents.

Do you and nimbleranger17 really need me to draw you a map to show that everything doesn't revolve around Chicago?
What are you even talking about regarding Madison Square Garden and the City on USA??

Honestly, just obsessing over the numbers on USA is pretty mindless.

The numbers might not look massive, but the outbreaks are happening specifically within schools.

He noted that about 200 students in middle and high schools have been infected, so for now, there hasn't been a shift toward remote learning.

"We are going to wait a bit before switching to the remote model, we will monitor the situation over the next four weeks before making a final decision," said Schumer.

When I tell you that things aren't moving to online classes in New York City, I say it because I actually know what is happening on the ground.

You can't possibly know what the situation will look like three weeks from now.
Unless, of course, you're some sort of hybrid of Milan and Vanga.

There’s also some very strong talk about an extension to the spring break (Spring Break/Easter period).

Does anyone happen to have any actual information?

nimbleranger17 said:Honestly, those are just nothing more than the petty whispers and little rumors of a few professors...

I’m actually working on this project with a high school over in Chicago, where I’m scheduled to teach some live sessions during that first week right after the Easter break. We actually sat down this past Friday and hammered out the details with the teacher there; she’s fully on board with me coming into the building to teach the kids in person...

copperharbor59 said:If we're talking about a spring break extension, I find that hard to believe... based on how often that actually happens, it sounds more like wishful thinking than anything else.

The FEMA office in Kansas, acting on the recommendation of the lead regional epidemiologist Dr. Taylor Swift, issued a decision today proposing to FEMA and the U.S. Department of Education that schools in the Kansas area transition to online learning for grades 5 through 8, as well as high schoolers excluding those in their final graduating year.

So, there you have it regarding the "rumors being spread by certain teachers" and the "wishful thinking."

NYC, of course, so we all know how that goes.

I suppose neither you nor the professor can truly know what the situation will look like once the holidays are over.

Raymond Perez9 said:No, it doesn't imply a 3+1 structure at all. My point is this: if remote learning is an option for every other high schooler, why isn't it an option for the seniors? What is the actual reasoning there?

The way things are set up now, professors for various subjects have to commute to campus just to teach these specific students while simultaneously running online classes for the underclassmen. If we are supposedly protecting freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from the virus, what is the justification for leaving seniors and their teachers exposed? It’s fundamentally illogical.

As for the burden of learning new material right up to the final bell, look at the reality of a student's life: they spend seven hours in class, plus another two hours commuting back and forth, meaning they are out of the house for nine hours a day. Once they get home, they spend at least two more hours on homework, plus nearly every night working on their capstone projects. We are looking at a minimum of 11 to 12 hours of intense mental labor daily, and that's without even touching the necessary review of everything they've learned over the last three years. Are we honestly expecting them to keep the entire four-year curriculum perfectly memorized at all times?
When exactly are these kids supposed to find time in a 24-hour cycle to review every subject for their final exams? I know it might not be a massive issue this year, but they are currently dealing with the psychological fallout of the pandemic, constant masking, and all that. These are young people, and we shouldn't be breaking them mentally right at the starting line. Where are all those psychologists who were so vocal about "prioritizing mental health" when it was convenient?

I suppose I might handle this situation in the following manner—I would call my pediatrician and ask, "Do you agree that because of all the studying for the SATs, my son's immune system might be a bit compromised next week?" 😉

nimbleranger17 said:And honestly, if these kids are perfectly fine—no fever, no coughing, not even a sniffle—but they happen to flag positive on some test, then who gives a damn?
They might as well stay stuck at home rotting away for an entire year, even if they were feeling absolutely stellar the moment they sat down for their finals, all because of a single positive result from a test that's notorious for spitting out false positives.

Exactly. Test results can be inaccurate, and frankly, requiring a test before every single day of the SATs is just not feasible. The testing window runs from early June through the end of the month—and since there are multiple exam dates—you have to multiply that by the number of students... we are talking about hundreds of thousands of individual tests.
Here is the updated SAT schedule:

Folks, behind this whole concept of political parties stands the Reddit version of George Soros.
Don't let yourselves be misled; all that money is just heading straight into Soros's pocket.😒

I mean, what exactly are you trying to lecture everyone else about regarding what topics should be off-limits—who gets to write what? You’re really out here acting like you’re the moderator or something.😲

🤦
One really ought to practice reading with actual comprehension—and that certainly applies to KCCLKC as well. I was specifically referring back to your post because I was... I suppose there isn't much left to say—it's simply done. I have decided to join the discussion here—though, if I am being honest, I don't think either KCCLKC or you are entirely correct. I have been waiting for nearly two weeks now just to get a response from the relevant authorities regarding my initial post—my actual question—so I suppose there is still much to be settled.
I wrote this:
Hello, this isn't actually a thread meant for debating Greta Thunberg—it’s specifically regarding a question that John Wayne posed to the moderators. It seems to me, perhaps accidentally or otherwise... Are you actually defending this? It seems there is some ongoing discussion regarding Temu—and, I suppose, the involvement of the moderator, Oštrić.

"Zaspramavate" is... plural And I was actually referring to everything—all of it—while I sat there, quite uselessly, waiting for an answer to my initial question.

I see you’re implying—or perhaps suggesting—that I am somehow incapable of reading what is right in front of me. Topic Title Or perhaps you simply fail to grasp the essence of what is being written here—though I suppose that is entirely possible. What’s the title?

It isn’t enough—I really don't think it is—to simply glance at the topic title or skim what's written in the headline. One truly needs to read the actual content that follows the title... if one wants to understand the point being made.

Hey, this isn't actually a thread for debating Greta Thunberg—rather, the question at hand is what John Wayne submitted to the moderators. It seems to me that, whether by accident or otherwise, 😉 you all are deviating from the actual topic, which includes the moderator Oštrić.
Let's just stop right here; there is a separate thread dedicated to "near politics." That is where people were asking—and are still asking—for the relevant moderators to respond to the inquiry made in the very first post.

hiddenpuma75 said:Here’s an example of imposed "gender sexism" that is actually written into the laws of certain states, including right here in the US.

Specifically, I believe there are laws out there that penalize political parties if they don't meet a specific quota for women on their candidate lists or similar requirements.

But I honestly don't understand why people can't grasp the fact that you shouldn't be FORCING a specific number of women (or men) into politics or any other field.

It wouldn't bother me at all if every single cabinet minister were a woman, but what bothers me is this nonsense where a legal act forces parties or institutions to MUST maintain a certain percentage of women. 🙄

In fact, if there are few women in politics, it should really be seen as a compliment to their wisdom—it suggests they are smart enough to value their peace and refuse to get dirty in the murky sludge of politics, where nothing but bullies and sharks tend to rule.

At the end of the day, there aren't such things as "women's rights"; there are only universal human rights.

👍

Everyone is equal before the law; the same rules apply to everyone. I am not a woman, but if I were, I think I would find being positively discriminated against quite offensive—because to me, it would feel like proof that I wasn't considered equally capable, and therefore needed a little push.

I cannot bring myself to see anything other than trolling—and perhaps even hate speech—when people label the presentation of these easily verifiable facts and suggestions for tackling racism as such. 🤷

I should probably mention that we are dealing with the same cell of forum users who, ever since last week's election results were released, have been essentially seething at any mention of the gendered, sexual, racial, or religious barriers broken by the election of certain candidates.

Friend, if anyone else had written posts like yours, they would have been permanently banned long ago rather than just suspended.
It seems obvious that you are being protected like a grizzly bear in the Rockies.

Why aren't offensive posts being deleted? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I can’t say I agree with this approach either. Starting a thread titled "Is the Quran a divine revelation?"—while suggesting we should stop disparaging the religious sentiments of others—seems somewhat contradictory. One really has to look at the track record of @Kudum (alias Shady), who seems to jump from one Christian topic to another acting like a missionary; he provokes, mocks—for instance, refusing to write "Bible" instead of "Bibles," or twisting names like Paul - Saul—and he tends to generalize and belittle all Christians by saying things like "Typical Christian behavior." He even goes as far as subtly expressing intolerance toward Jews, saying things like, "He lost his head because of his faith, and you're calling him a Jew?!"

To make a long story short... since @Kudum is a former moderator, he is quite skilled at knowing exactly how far he can push the boundaries, and he uses that skill quite extensively to act like a missionary, to instigate, to provoke, and to position himself as if he is above the rest of us...
I suppose such behavior isn't right coming from anyone, really. I think everyone should adhere to the idea that if there is something to be asked—say, within a discussion regarding Islam, Christianity, or the Jehovite—once an answer is provided, one should refrain from engaging in further arguments or trying to prove others wrong.
