MacBook Air's fanless design in Hardware ·
I've been seeing a lot of talk lately about how the MacBook Air manages to stay so cool without a single fan. It's pretty wild how much performance they're squeezing out of Apple Silicon without it turning into a space heater. Do you guys think this is the future for all thin-and-light laptops?

Some laptop keys aren't working in IT Support ·
So, I'm dealing with an HP laptop here.
Out of nowhere, a bunch of my keys just stopped working—specifically e, t, u, i, o, plus the 8 and 5 on the number pad. Everything else seems fine, though.
To make things even weirder, the laptop keeps spamming asterisks like crazy even when I'm not touching anything.
Anyone have any clues what's going on or how I can fix this?

So, apparently, the first Syrian refugees in Germany are starting to work for an unthinkable wage of just one euro an hour, and nobody is even trying to hide it.

I just can't buy this. That would be like $8 a day, or roughly $234 a month. There is no way... either they're making more than that, or there's simply no legal framework that allows it.

I'll take everything bad about the old guard, but I'm calling bullshit on this one.

A buddy of mine does catering work in Germany, specifically working with refugees.
They pay them basically $1 an hour just to clean toilets at the camp where he works. They have a set number of hours they're allowed to work per month—I think they cap out at maybe $200 a month if they actually put in the time.
Keep in mind, every refugee gets a $150 stipend from the German government regardless of whether they work or not.😁
On top of that, they get free housing in these big halls/warehouses and all their meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—are covered.
Car Insurance: What are your experiences? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Just wanted to shake things up here and see what you guys have been going through with insurance companies lately.
I've been hunting for some liability and collision quotes for my car, and man, the price swings are wild. I really need to dig into the fine print too, because it doesn't make much sense when the collision coverage jumps by as much as $667... gotta figure out if those cheaper options are actually worth it or if they're just cutting corners on the coverage.

I'm curious to hear from anyone who's signed a policy in the last month or so. Rates seem to be shifting every single week, so anything from a few weeks ago might look totally different from what we're seeing now. Here’s what I’m looking at right now:

GEICO
liability-$487
collision-$1433
Allianz
liability-$507
collision-$1867
State Farm
liability-$400
collision-$1333
Progressive
liability-$450
collision-$1233
Atlantic
liability-$600
collision-$1167

Here’s another before/after where neither of us even recognizes the person in the first photo.😁
The first one? Hard to say exactly since I hit a peak of 250 lbs and didn't snap a pic right away, but I’d guess I was around 235 lbs here. The second shot is about 180 lbs, standing 5'11". This whole transformation took about a year and a half.
People have been asking about my waist size—not totally sure what it was back then, maybe 45 or 46 inches, but now I’m sitting at around 37. The goal is to get under 35.
In that last photo, I think I was still hovering near 250, which you can tell from the pics. 😵

Dropping my before/after shots here, though I feel like someone might have posted these already.
I hit a peak of about 245–250 lbs, but in that first pic, I’m closer to 240. The other two are at roughly 180 lbs:

In the first two here, I'm sitting at 235 lbs, and the last ones are right around 180 lbs again. Still fighting a losing battle with my midsection and love handles—they're stubborn as hell, honestly. No matter how hard I train, they just won't budge... 😁

Standing at 5'10", I started out at 236 lbs and I'm down to 185 lbs now. Still got about 17 lbs left to go on this cut. Most of the stubborn fat is hanging out around my stomach and hips, so hopefully, once I hit this next phase, that stuff finally starts to melt away. 😁
I don't have many progress shots from the earlier stages, just this one I managed to dig up.
