Do I need extra protection just for those five days while I'm on antibiotics, or is the whole month a wash?
I think you should use backup protection while taking the antibiotics and then for another 7 days after you finish (enough time to get back to seven consecutive days of pills). Pretty sure that's what the instructions say. It also depends on which pack you're using; if you're in your third week, you should probably skip the seven-day break entirely. If you take a break, you won't hit that seven-day streak required for reliable protection.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. How long have you been drinking these teas, and how often per day? What’s the dosage? I’m definitely going to start; I really want to avoid surgery if I can. It’s been too long since my last check-up, and I’m terrified the cyst has grown.
I’m still on Cilest, mainly for contraception—it’s the only thing that makes me feel secure enough.
Where do you pick up your teas? At health food stores or somewhere like CVS?
Honestly, I think the cyst is down to my stress levels and this non-stop, frantic lifestyle. Too much nervous energy. I really need to get a handle on that.🙂
I’ve been on Cilest birth control for over a year now. About eight or nine months ago, they found a clear cyst on my left ovary. It was only about half a centimeter back then. Within four months, it grew to 3.5 cm, and at my last exam, it hit roughly 4.3 cm.
My gynecologist told me to stop taking Cilest since I was using it for contraception and gave me a referral for a CA 125 test, which came back normal. Because my doctor was incredibly blunt—basically offering zero explanation about what kind of cyst this actually is—I went to see a private specialist instead. She performed an ultrasound, showed me everything looked normal, and insisted it’s just a water cyst, so there's no reason to panic. However, she didn't mention anything about stopping the Cilest. Now I’m stuck. I don't know who to listen to. Should I keep taking the Cilest? If I recall correctly, oral contraceptives are supposed to have a positive effect on cysts.
Are there any natural methods that might cause a cyst to rupture, like specific teas or something similar?

I have a question regarding my mom. She’s 47. A few months ago, she started having really intense ovarian pain. She went to her gynecologist, and they found a fibroid and two cysts—one of which looks suspicious.
She had a CA 125 tumor marker test, and the result was 19.
What should be the next steps after a finding like that? Unfortunately, I don't have the actual report on hand to type out and explain things more clearly.
Normal CA 125 levels go up to 35, so that result is fine. Now, she needs to head back to her gynecologist. They will likely refer her for further testing or decide she needs to have the cyst monitored every three months. If it's massive or growing rapidly, they'll just take it out. Also, she should probably get her blood flow checked if she hasn't already.
I’ve been on Cilest for about a year and three months now, and I have a few questions. If anyone can help, I’d appreciate it.
So, here’s the deal. I always take the last pill in the pack on Sunday night, and my period usually starts on Thursday and lasts until Sunday. This time, though, I want my period to wrap up by Friday—two days earlier than usual. I’m wondering if I can just take two pills from a new pack to shorten the cycle by two days, then go straight into my seven-day break. Does messing with the schedule affect how reliable the birth control is?
My second option is to skip the break entirely and start the next pack immediately. Has anyone actually tried this? Are there side effects if I decide not to take a break for one month, and is the protection just as solid during those times?
