The start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine (Part 1) in War in Ukraine ·
Evincar333 said:Did we just brush off our own versions of Putin or Maddox over our borders?
This isn't a war being fought on American soil. If the Ukrainian people want to maintain their sovereignty, they have to fight for it with their own blood, just like we had to do back in the day...
All Americans stand behind the Ukrainian people because they're going through exactly what we endured all by ourselves without anyone stepping in to help us!!
And you, honey, feel free to keep tapping away at your keyboard if it makes you feel better...

I'm still waiting for an answer from gentleharbor3 regarding where she read about the war in America—which news site was she looking at, exactly?

I’d honestly be amused (it's hard to take these kinds of comments seriously) if she actually tried to claim America was just some proxy for someone else during our conflicts, or if she attempted to draw a direct line between the Vietnam War and local massacres... if she pulled that off, I might have to award her a virtual Nobel...

Is the US using this region as a proxy, given how they fueled conflicts with Mexico back in the 90s? ☕☕☕

To those people claiming this is just an American proxy war... how many Ukrainian tanks are currently under "proxy protection" on their way toward Moscow? Just asking for the same folks on this forum...

I'm with you on that. The Russian Army should probably just start surrendering bit by bit. It's not even about losing a traditional battle anymore, because that kind of warfare really doesn't belong in this day and age...

Everyone really needs to watch this. The rhetoric here reminds me so much of gentleharbor3... how they pivoted from talking about Lenin to the bombings in Mexico City and then Libya... it serves as such a heavy introduction to what's happening on Ukrainian territory, where Ukrainian civilians are being killed. Honestly, the Russian soldiers should just lay down their weapons. I mean it...

It’s just so heartbreaking to see this happening again in 2022, though their courage is completely understandable...

I caught about three minutes of Sloba in this clip. He’s out there defending Stalin while tearing down Lenin and criticizing the whole idea of national self-determination from back in '24... honestly, everyone should sit down and watch this. It really makes you wonder if people actually agree with losing their own unique identity just to have some other, imposed identity forced upon them. Is that what we want—to live in a country where there's only ever one allowed way of thinking? Because guys like Stalin and Putin aren't exactly looking out for global peace or a unified world; they're focused on their own specific group and making sure there's only one "correct" opinion...

I'll finish watching the whole thing once I get back from my trip. Thanks.

Is he some KGB-style paranoid? Just days ago, he was insisting there wouldn't be an invasion of Ukraine... mocking Washington and using mouthpieces like Zakharova to claim it’s all just US propaganda...

Such a shame...
So many people—myself included—fell for the idea that it was all just US propaganda... then reality hit us hard.

It is what it is...

The important stuff...
At the end of the day, there's really only one question left... do you support an attack on Ukraine?

He doesn't approve, but he thinks that once Ukraine has already been invaded, they should just surrender. 😁 He feels that fighting back is foolish, and that they're ultimately responsible for any casualties, even if Russia decides to use nukes.

William Anderson5 said:Just listen to Putin's hour-long pro-Nazi speech. Aside from mentioning borders, that whole thing has nothing to do with old-school Soviet ideology. It’s actually quite the opposite...

Can you drop a link to that? I want to see this latest version of Hitler for myself. This absolute piece of trash would probably drop a nuke on Europe just to wreck them, even if it means destroying himself... or maybe he'd aim for America instead...

gentleharbor3 said:I didn't think an invasion would happen either,
but within a realistic framework, this logic isn't irrational at all.
At least from his perspective.
The Minsk II agreement fell apart, and Ukraine wasn't following it.
It's simple cause and effect.
He didn't just wake up one morning and decide—"today I invade Ukraine."
This happened for clear reasons we've already covered,
including the broader geopolitical context.
You could call this a conflict between the USA and Russia, where Russia
is directly involved, while the USA acts through proxies.

Could you share the agreement with us? Which specific parts was the Ukrainian side failing to follow? And how many American soldiers or pieces of equipment are actually on Russian soil ☕☕☕

Or on Ukrainian soil?

gentleharbor3 said:If the US Army had even a single-digit number of nukes back in the 90s,
we’d all be speaking some weird hybrid language today.
Russia has 6,255.
It’s fascinating how many people take everything they read
on Twitter and stuff as gospel, ignoring the fact that information warfare
is a core component of every conflict, especially in the age of
the internet and social media...
The Ukrainians aren't going to win this war
because if Putin loses his mind, he'll just level everything to the ground.
And based on the messages coming out of the White House, it's obvious
that lowering the guard and returning to negotiations is smarter
than continuing this stubborn defiance.
That's the reality.
The problem is that Americans completely misinterpret
their own experiences from the American Civil War when looking at this war.

A nuke will wipe him and his people out too. Dear citizens. That’s the "beauty" of the bomb... And what negotiations? Do you see anywhere suggesting the Ukrainians actually want to negotiate? They are fighting in front of their own homes against heavy weapons and tanks. This isn't happening in Moscow.

regarding Ukraine or this war.

Would you mind educating us then? How is what the Ukrainians are going through considered "okay," and why should we just sit here and ignore it? Maybe you could tell us exactly what kind of impact this war has had on your own life, and in which country you've actually experienced it...

Gerald Torres84 said:No, "normal" refers to someone who doesn't take pleasure in the suffering of another nation fighting to escape the Russian boot.
It’s just like how people used to talk about us back in the day, labeling us as bloodthirsty extremists killing innocent civilians, while claiming they were just "liberating" their ancestral lands—exactly what Russia is doing now. If you've actually listened to a Putin speech, everything becomes perfectly clear.

Putin's rhetoric is identical to Hitler's or Maddox's when it comes to both the descriptions and the actual intentions.

1. They claim they are acting to protect their own people (conveniently forgetting that ethnic Ukrainians could be facing extermination)
2. They claim historical rights to those specific territories
3. They claim they are acting out of love to prevent a genocide supposedly committed by Ukrainians (essentially using their own aggression to justify a preemptive strike)
4. They play the emotional card, teary-eyed, claiming they had absolutely no other choice....

Which of these madmen stopped at the very first country they hit? And look at what happened to Americans, Poles, or Czechs in similar situations. What would they have done if they had successfully occupied a major hub like New York City? It would have been a puppet regime and the execution of any radical resistance... but they didn't succeed there...

Growing up, I saw headlines filled with Molotov cocktails, fighter jets, air raid sirens, generals, and snipers, but even all of that paled in comparison to the devastation seen in places like El Paso, Scabrnja... or what's happening in Lugansk, Donetsk, and Crimea for the Ukrainians...

I highly doubt he's some local hero charging tanks with nothing.
He spends more time on Twitter than your average armchair general,
but information warfare is still a critical part of combat,
so credit where it's due regarding keeping Ukrainian morale up!
He handles that perfectly.

So you find him pathetic? And you're convinced he'll be dead in a few days? Because of whatever methods the Russians decide to use to avoid looking like villains? He isn't a frontline soldier; if he tried to run at a tank, he'd be gone in a second. He actually does more than any typical statesman facing death threats. He isn't a general, he's a comedian. He's got a family to think about.

What's gotten into you lately?

Bravo. Let’s go, citizens, resist the madness
Erdo is calling for real assistance for Ukraine, so he might as well just close the Bosphorus, the genius.
Zelenskyy is acting like Elizabeth II when she refused to leave the palace during the bombings of London.
Whatever the outcome, this will be etched into his nation's history.

Zelensky is a dead man walking. He’s known that for days now. And honestly, I’d say he’s performing an incredible mission, going far beyond just doing a job.

Ukrainians are doing exactly what our people did back during the war. Who can send their wives and children away while they pick up weapons and head out? It's like fighting tanks with nothing but slingshots. We grew up with Molotov cocktails in the newspapers; that was just part of daily life for us. Anyone who lived through our defensive war can't help but feel a sense of mourning seeing this, and you can't help but side with those defending themselves. The Russians really need to get rid of that sick individual...

Ashley Vaughn79 said:I’m sorry, but that didn’t come across as particularly well-intentioned on your part.

The woman hasn't actually done anything to you directly, other than posting a US ad, which she is completely entitled to do.
It’s her choice how she presents herself both on this forum and in her ads, just as it’s up to every individual to decide whether they want to respond to a certain type of ad or forum presence.

It isn't our job to judge whether someone is trolling or not, and we certainly shouldn't be dragging people through ten different posts with a condescending tone.

I wouldn't want someone of this type to discourage people from placing a US ad, especially since we already have a separate thread where people dissect forum history and basically mock others.

That isn't the point of the US section, and I wouldn't want the ad commentary thread to turn into that kind of thing.

Maybe I would have reacted more calmly if you hadn't kept up the same tone after I pointed out that what was happening wasn't right.

It's rare that a specific username gets under my skin like this. I'm not being zloban now, nor will I be tomorrow. That's a pretty harsh classification on your part... honestly, quite unfair and incorrect.

The content posted by this user does tend to invite mockery, simply because it lacks logic and common sense.

Where I do agree with you is that we shouldn't intimidate people who want to post an ad. And okay, I didn't account for that part.

You guys seem to police trolling so strictly—even Swithim expressed surprise at the author in the original thread. A crowd of forum users immediately starts debating "troll or not troll."

I didn't twist or paraphrase anything; I quoted it. I wasn't imagining things, and I didn't go beyond what was explicitly stated. Time will tell who is behind this handle.

I'm currently at an annual retreat waiting for a medical checkup, so I've had plenty of downtime... which leads to more posts.

If that user hadn't written what they wrote and opened an ad within a single day, it wouldn't have triggered this much feedback (from me or anyone else).

I don't make a habit of stalking anyone, whether in real life or online.

I understand this is your job, that you have guidelines and your own way of handling things... but you assigned a motive to me that wasn't there, treated me like a child—given how you phrased it—and effectively stripped away my right to speak.

That goes completely against the very principles you claim to defend regarding online identities.

And if we're moving into moral territory—since you're calling me zloban—is it considered "okay" to advertise looking for new partners while you're seeing someone else? Is that what we're defending here?

Just totally fine.

As for my own ads, since you pivoted to that later when you were lecturing me... I used to post ads too, meeting many guys over a decade ago. One of them is my best friend today. So, I've been through the experience, and I think it's a wonderful opportunity for people to connect both virtually and in person...

Hey everyone,

Once I’ve had a chance to clear my head, I'm planning to address this accusation of malice leveled against me by the moderator.

By "malice," I mean being flagged for content in my posts without even getting a fair shot at defending myself... it just feels pretty disrespectful.

I have to admit, I actually used to enjoy reading Ashley Vaughn79's posts. But her blatant bias toward certain "victims"—who, let's be honest, are either just trolls or people playing questionable moral games—is honestly unbelievable.

The issue here is the specific announcement comment. The user who posted the notice was actually quoting someone else's text. Where is the malice in that? That user wrote the quote, not me. The stuff about racial purity was also their wording, not mine.

If it makes you happy, go ahead and keep my ban active for six months, but if you're going to label me as malicious, at least give me a chance to explain myself... and please, don't lecture me on my personal character.

In my actual life, or even on this famous forum, nobody has ever diagnosed me with any kind of malice before.

Again, feel free to maintain the ban, but I'd suggest you read through her thread and the subsequent replies. Then tell me if that announcement isn't just a desperate attempt to find exactly what the author is looking for...

Is this how things work now? Have these announcements turned into some kind of hunt for attention?

Nicholas Nguyen said:Can someone like this actually integrate into American society, or are they destined to be a permanent fixture of friction?

[/I]

I’d want to take this discussion a bit deeper from a philosophical standpoint—how much money and how many people should realistically be poured into managing one individual like this? And does the system really need to buckle under the weight of trying to integrate people who harbor such intense hatred, or should they simply be sent back to their home countries?

Look, he lost an uncle, and so many people from our neck of the woods have lost parents in various wars... he believes Swedes are pedophiles responsible for war crimes in his homeland and in Africa... he views alcohol as a state-sanctioned drug and sees the ban on hashish as pure discrimination... he even lists at least ten specific people he wants to kill before he leaves... why hasn't all of this been reported to the police? In my view, he deserves to be deported back to his country of origin...

Because if anyone said to me, "Yeah, you say all these things too, and you're right, but I've never explicitly threatened to kill someone under certain conditions or expressed this level of visceral hatred toward my surroundings," it would feel different...

The core issue here is that we're talking about children traumatized by war, coming from cultures where life might look completely different at seventeen, raised on heavy propaganda about war, vengeance, and holy crusades between brothers... they are fundamentally different from the environment they live in now, and I honestly don't know how much tolerance the local community has for them during daily interactions...

Ultimately, those wars are a tragedy for all of humanity, and I truly hope they come to an end... but America can't go around trying to heal every single war wound across the entire world...

I’d be pretty shocked if the maximum fee was capped at $10 regardless of how much you actually transfer :-)

Look, the total amount matters, the country matters, and your bank matters. But honestly, it’s all fairly straightforward. I’d say the author has most of the necessary info... they just seem to be missing the specific fee schedules from the banks' websites.

hiddentiger51 said:Look, SEPA definitely works within the EU. I've sent transfers from JPMorgan Chase over to Estonia and Ireland before and didn't run into a single hiccup. Generally speaking, the funds show up by the next business day.

I'm not saying it doesn't work; I'm just pointing out that it isn't free, unlike sending money from Austria to Germany or Slovakia. I actually checked the JPMorgan Chase website, and it looks like what they call a SEPA transfer is essentially what people in Europe refer to as a foreign payment order, and they base their charges on the standard fee schedule.

A foreign payment order or international wire works globally, but it definitely comes with a price tag.

That's why I'd suggest the user double-check those fees and maybe focus on one specific international region—especially if they aren't already banking in the US.

If someone is already a client at a bank here in the US, it might still be worth targeting a specific group of countries just to make processing easier and avoid too many headaches regarding the source of funds.

One more thing worth mentioning is that the fees shouldn't be massive—not upwards of 75-$100 as far as I know...
Transferring funds from the US to another EU country in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Keep in mind that you could run into situations where foreign banks start asking tough questions about your source of funds or might even refuse the deposit altogether... especially since you’re a new client walking in with a large amount of cash. When I handled my own transaction, I made sure to give my employer's bank a heads-up first. I didn't actually move any money until the compliance and AML department gave me the green light.

Also, definitely double-check how the tax authorities will view the payment, whether it's classified as a gift or a transfer...
