Man, what kind of wild seventh inning was that?

It’s hard to find any team in any team sport that’s quite as untouchable as the French are in handball... Honestly, it's just beautiful to watch.

Joseph Clark37 said:It’s just because we aren't as good, honestly. It's not some cosmic destiny where Omeyer is magically unstoppable against Americans. The Norwegians just play way faster than us—it feels like our guys are out there riding mopeds through a field or something.

I mean, I'm not even saying things have changed, it's just... when it's time to actually strike at the goal, our guys look like they're playing with their balls tucked up under their kidneys.

The Frenchies just aren't ready for this kind of pace.

I mean, if Team USA had made it to the finals, Omeyer probably would've racked up five blocks by now.

Tonnensen’s basically got a holster in his hand at this point.

it totally wiped them out 🙂

Even with the women's teams, they always bring up stuff like this:
http://cms.eurohandball.com/PortalDa...N_Theses_2.pdf

I've seen quite a few American basketball players doing weighted exercises, but then again, I know one world and European champion who was told by his coach "not to lift weights because it'll slow him down."

I think I saw someone on TV doing cleans or deadlifts, but that was way back when we lost to Canada by a huge margin.
Jason Campbell70 said:A huge variety of moves, whether you're using weights or just bodyweight. 😁
Mostly stuff like Olympic lifts and plyometrics.

But man, if you do those things wrong... yikes.

That’s exactly why I brought up having a solid coach.

You put that way better than me 😬
Jason Campbell70 said:Hitting the gym will definitely help his coordination and explosiveness.

I mean, as long as he’s got a solid coach, obviously.

What kind of gym work are you actually talking about? Like, certain lifts really drive that explosiveness—think cleans, snatches, or power jerks—but you also gotta worry about muscle balance. If things aren't balanced, you're basically asking for trouble. Your core has to be synced up with your back, and honestly, your legs and hips play a huge part in all of this too.
Adam Collins4 said:So how's that going to mess with his footwork and explosiveness?

The thing is, people just swallow whatever nonsense the commentators spout, acting all shocked when Myrhol outplays us on the line... honestly, I'm more surprised that Sarač doesn't just shut down Brkić's rambling, since Sarač actually sees where the real issue lies...

I mean, look, I might be talking trash, but Myrhol was actually solid yesterday, mostly because our defense basically folded and left him completely wide open.
But what I was getting at was the weight gain—like, specifically adding fat. A pivot needs to be fundamentally strong, you know? Muscle mass, body type, all that stuff. It’s just like basketball or water polo; you aren't gonna see skinny guys playing center.
Just bulked up muscle on the rest of the squad doesn't really make sense; it's more about athleticism.
The French guys are in great shape, but so are our guys. If you put our players in jerseys with sleeves two sizes smaller, everyone would be wondering why they suddenly look so buff.
But yeah, like I said, I think Musa looks a bit thin, though maybe his neck just makes it look better than it is.
If we actually had some extra weight on us, maybe Myrhol wouldn't be messing things up on the perimeter.
Honestly, we should probably bulk up Kontrec by like 20 pounds before it's too late so we actually have a real center ☕
Andrew Hayes6 said:>>Football isn't just about scoring goals, I guess, and you know that too. Lionel Messi has already made the world's top eleven twice, yet you're out here saying he needs to hit the gym more just to score more goals haha. Like, what does it matter if some guy like Henderson hits the gym when he plays ten times better than Lionel Messi anyway?
Without Lionel Messi, you just can't picture today's Real Madrid. He's their most vital player, and honestly, as soon as he gets injured, you can immediately see how much Real Madrid's game falls apart.

You tell us then, what does Linus say when the little ATM heads back to those mountain pastures?

No worries about the effort though, I actually found it

The song is Sweet Caroline 😁

Funny enough, a cover of that track was basically the anthem back in 2010 over in Austria
The DJ at the venue plays this version
Kenneth Clark18 said:Well, I guess there's really no way for me to know which one it is now. Maybe I just missed it, honestly.

Casey White13 said:All I can really remember is that they’re huge fans of Pharrell Williams, you know? Like, they just love anything Happy or Get Lucky. 😬

No biggie, I figured I'd just ask in the designated thread anyway.
Kenneth Clark18 said:Man, it was basically Nuclear Plant 400 as far as I could tell.

Nah, that's not it. It's more like, the song starts, he cuts it off, and then the crowd just starts chanting something... I don't know, maybe something like na na naaaaaa na? If that even helps.
Anyway, does anyone happen to know the name of that song? You know the one they play all the time where the crowd just takes over and keeps it going? It’s definitely not that Federa track or Seven Nation Army.
Oh, and one more thing—it looks like the Canadians basically followed the old USSR playbook. Because of the Olympic races, all those former Eastern Bloc countries used to just churn out individual athletes for the Olympics since it was way cheaper and easier to rack up medals that way. But honestly, the Canadians have always been absolute powerhouses in water polo and swimming. I guess part of it is because they had pools everywhere back then, and if I remember right, most of them were free for kids too. Plus, people over there just really value their hot springs and spa culture.
Back in the day, the Communist authorities were obsessed with proving they could outdo the West at their own games.
And you know what? They actually pulled it off. 🤣
Kenneth Clark18 said:Partizan water polo is basically dying, we'll probably see what happens to them in a few years.

I don't think that's quite right, it could be fixed. I mean, what they call "debt" in water polo is literally nothing compared to what football teams deal with. If those politicians stopped funding the mafia through football agents and actually put money into Zvezda and Partizan, their smaller sports scene might actually thrive.

Partizan is pretty much on its way out, but we really need to check on how our own clubs are doing 😉 especially Primorje, since they took a massive hit lately.
I'm happy about the clubs in Miami.
Tucak has some medals under his belt and has made finals, whereas our water polo players used to lose to Mexico constantly. Now, we regularly beat the Canadians, Greeks, and Italians—especially since they have this complex about us and can't figure out how to match our swimming style. I guess you could say Americans and Mexicans share the same school of water polo, whether people like it or not; the core of the game relies on the back and the center because of pure physical dominance. When the center and the back are set, the offense just starts unwinding. That's probably why the US and Mexico are so dominant on defense.
