Ovaries: Cysts and related issues [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Hey everyone, could I get some help or advice?
So, I've been dealing with PCOS for four years now. I was on Belar for a year, and it’s been nearly a year since I stopped taking them...

My cycle usually runs about 35+ days, but over the last two or three months, I started taking Vitex. My second-to-last period (maybe because of the Vitex?) arrived right on day 28. However, about two weeks later—just a week after my period ended—I had intense abdominal cramps and then started bleeding heavily. The bleeding lasted five days. I immediately scheduled an appointment with Dr. Ginić. With my PCOS, having a period arrive only 14 days after the last one just doesn't feel right. An ultrasound revealed a 6cm cyst. According to the doctor, it formed because a blood vessel ruptured, causing blood to pool into a cyst.

The doctor suggested we wait one cycle and then come back after my next period to see how things look. What I'm wondering is, what happens if the cyst doesn't resolve on its own? Would surgery be necessary, considering this isn't a simple fluid-filled cyst, but one filled with blood?
I'm a bit confused, and I didn't think to ask him all of this because I was mostly just reeling from the news that I have a 6cm mass inside my ovary... 🤔

Is there an issue with that?😕

According to the Loestrin insert, if you're switching from another brand, you can follow the usual routine—take a seven-day break and then start the new cycle. However, if I recall correctly, you might need to use backup protection for the first five days.

I have a bit of a silly question here, so apologies in advance. 😛 Contraception still works during that seven-day break between pill packs, right?

About a month and a half ago, I had a color Doppler ultrasound. The doctor there diagnosed me with "pure PCOS," noting 26 cysts on my left ovary and 16 on the right. However, (calling them "real" cysts... 😛He didn't mention those specific details... so I guess they aren't part of the standard profile, though I often find blood clots and these strange little "skin" fragments in my discharge. Did you experience that too? Honestly, I’m at a loss for what counts as normal anymore. Ever since I started on the pill, I've dealt with this irregular discharge from time to time, and it’s been maddening. Gin. suggested that if it persists through the second pack, I should probably switch to a stronger prescription. I'm starting the second pack tonight, so I suppose we'll see. 🙂

I've been diagnosed with PCOS, and my gynecologist put me on Belara pills
I couldn't find a specific thread about this particular brand of birth control, so does anyone have experience using them?
I'm new to all of this and could use some insight.🙂

I’m on Belara for PCOS too. From what I gather, they only recently hit the market here in the States. I finished my first pack on Wednesday, and my period arrived today—day 23 of my cycle. I'm taking a break until Thursday when I start the next box. So far, I haven't had major side effects, though my breasts were sore and swollen for the first week or so. After that, it settled down. One annoying thing, though, is that I've had this brownish discharge every single day since my period ended, right up until this current bleeding started. Just a little bit every day. 😲 I called my OB-GYN about it, and he mentioned it might just be normal for the first month while the body adjusts. He also suggested it could mean the dose is too low; if it happens again with the second pack, we might have to switch to something stronger. I'm a little apprehensive about that, honestly. These have actually been quite manageable so far—aside from that discharge—and who knows how I'll react to a higher dose... 😕
I’ve been on Belara for about 14 days now, having started on the first day of my cycle. My period lasted roughly six days, but since then, I've had this slight brownish discharge. I read somewhere that this might just be breakthrough bleeding, which apparently isn't unusual when starting birth control—just the body adjusting, I guess... but I'm still feeling a bit anxious about it. Has anyone else dealt with this?
My gynecologist prescribed Belara for my PCOS. Since these are my first birth control pills and I haven't been able to find many firsthand accounts from other women online, I figured I'd ask here... Does anyone have experience with this specific brand? What was it like, and did you deal with any side effects? I haven't started them yet because the instructions say to begin on the first day of my cycle. It also mentions a seven-day break, but I'm a little confused—do you resume on the seventh or the eighth day? Also, the pack only lists the days of the week (Mon, Tue, Wed...). I guess that just means the order doesn't strictly matter and they're just there as a guide so you don't miss a dose, but I suppose I should double-check if there's more to it than that.
