So, I’m looking to mail some magazines to a friend.
The whole stack weighs about 15 pounds altogether, so I’ll be sending them as a package directly to her address, which should cost roughly $9.25.
I was wondering, though... how should I actually wrap these up? Do I really need to find a sturdy box, or would just wrapping them in some heavy-duty paper work okay?...
And is there anything else I need to include on the outside or any extra steps I might be missing?
If anyone here has experience shipping packages, I would absolutely love it if you could walk me through the whole process! Thanks so much!
I wanted to reach out and ask you all something, and I really do apologize for posting this in the off-topic section—I honestly wasn't quite sure where the best place to drop this question would be... So, I was just thinking about how I really need to get this payment sent over to my daughter... it's been on my mind all morning, and I just want to make sure everything goes through smoothly without any hiccups... $27 So, I’ve been thinking about this situation involving an account over at Chase... I don't actually have any debit cards myself, so I was just wondering how much they're going to charge in service fees at the specific Chase branch where her account is held... thanks!
So, I'm trying to figure out how to pay someone over in the States so they can mail a book to my address... the thing is, I don't have a PayPal account or anything like that set up yet. I’d really love to be able to handle this on my own if there's any way at all, just so I don't have to go bothering anyone else for help. If I can't find a way to do it myself, I guess I'll just ask this girl if she wouldn't mind helping me sort it out... Does that mean I can't just use a standard money order or a check like we normally do here in the US? Thanks!
Hey everyone. I have a quick question for you all, and I’m really hoping to get some feedback as soon as possible because things are a bit urgent on my end... So, here is the situation. I don't actually have a bank account anywhere—literally nothing set up right now—but there is this one specific book I am dying to buy, and they would be shipping it over to me from the States. The total comes out to about $28, so I am just trying to figure out where and how I can make that payment most efficiently, what documentation might be needed, and honestly, what the cheapest way to handle it is... Do I need to pay in U.S. dollars or will it convert to my local currency? If anyone has dealt with something similar before, please let me know as soon as you can... Thanks so much!
Rebecca Reed said:Alright, so there's no inspecting the item before paying. Got it. In that case, what’s the absolute safest way for me to get this lamp via the mail? Like, sending it as a package with some kind of insurance?...
Since you can't check things out before you pay, relying on the standard mail isn't exactly the most secure route... there's always a bit of a gamble involved when you don't personally know the person on the other end. I wouldn't personally recommend just sending it regular mail because the post office makes their money regardless of whether things arrive safely. If I were in your shoes, I’d definitely ask them to send it via certified mail or as a formal package. A package under 2 kg $6.00, if I recall correctly, is about the same as certified mail. If the item is fragile, you really need to tell the clerk at the post office so they can slap a "fragile" sticker on the box, though that usually costs a few extra bucks... I'm not entirely sure of the exact price, so you'll have to check with the local branch. Or, better yet, make sure she packs that lamp incredibly well and wraps it tight. I've sent fragile items via certified mail before without even marking them as fragile, simply because I wrapped my perfumes and glass bottles so thoroughly... I used bubble wrap, layered it with wool, taped it up, then added crumpled paper and layers of newspaper until the whole thing was twice as thick as the actual object! And honestly, everything has arrived perfectly intact every single time... Whenever I'm shipping something out, I make it a habit to take photos of everything—the envelope, the package itself, every little detail of how I wrapped the contents, and even a shot of the final product once it's all taped up and handed over at the counter. I either send those photos to the recipient or just keep them tucked away as proof in case anything goes sideways... plus, I usually have someone tag along with me to the post office just to be safe, especially if it's a standard shipment. Anyway, I hope that helps a bit! If you have any more questions, just let me know and I'll try to figure it out for you if I can!...🙂

The shipping cost for a certified letter up to 50 grams, including COD (Cash on Delivery), is $5.50 . On the package, you’ll need to write: COD amount = $9.00 . This means the recipient will have to pay the mail carrier an extra $3.00 as a service fee for handling the money transfer... Basically, the buyer needs to have $12 ready in cash when they go to pick up their package.
If you can somehow work out a deal where they pay you upfront via a standard bank transfer, then the shipping for just a regular certified package would be only $9.50.
P.S. @Melissa Phillips4/">@@Melissa Phillips4 She doesn't actually need Registered Mail, because honestly, if the package does happen to get lost, she'd end up getting eight times more $28 than what the item is actually worth anyway...
I usually just send things via standard or certified mail, but this lady was absolutely insisting that I send it COD. Now I'm stuck thinking she'll have to pay $9.00, and I'm genuinely wondering if she'll even show up to grab it. I tried explaining to her that regular shipping is only $3.10 while certified is $9.50, but nooo, she's dead set on the COD option... And I did mention how expensive it would be for her. I thought maybe she just didn't want to deal with a bank transfer or wouldn't make it to the bank in time, so having it delivered to her door seemed easier, but the item itself is only worth $10, and now she's going to end up paying twice that much... Man, I swear, those big shipping companies like FedEx must be making a killing on stuff like this!
Hey everyone, does anyone know how much I should charge if I want to send something via Cash on Delivery? So, here’s the deal: the item is worth about $1 and weighs almost nothing, just a few grams... Could someone please help me out and give me an idea of what the total cost might look like?
There isn't really anything you can do about it, honestly... not me, not you, and clearly not any of the countless other women out there dealing with this exact same nightmare. I used to deal with it constantly, and even now, I get these unbearable cramps—sometimes it’s so intense on the first day that I end up cleaning just to distract myself from the pain, or worse, I’m stuck vomiting... So, taking a pill doesn't even help because the pain hits so fast that the medication doesn't even have a chance to kick in. And even when the painkillers do work, they only seem to hold the line for maybe two days at most. For years, I was just suffering through it, but then I started on birth control and it felt like a total rebirth; after six years of pure misery, I finally felt like a normal person again, such a relief... but then, after about a year, the cramps and the pain just came rushing back. Now I'm right back where I started, with nothing helping, and sometimes even the pills don't do a single thing for me. I’m honestly at my breaking point with this pain because it feels like I’m being stabbed in the back, like someone is actually twisting a knife around inside my stomach... It’s absolutely horrific. If you haven't experienced it, you just can't understand, not even someone like my mom... we basically fight a war together every single month! Ah...
I see there’s all sorts of talk going around about the postal service and theft... hmmm... I honestly can't say for sure, since I usually just send everything via certified mail, though if the recipient insists on standard shipping, I'll just go along with whatever they prefer... I’ve actually sent quite a few packages through standard mail lately—everything from places like Chicago and Houston down to sunny Florida and the islands—and every single one arrived perfectly intact without a single hiccup... I haven't had one solitary bad experience... as for those ladies behind the counter, hmm, I really don't see how they could pull off any kind of theft when there's a security camera filming every move, unless someone is sneaking around in the back, which just seems a bit hard to believe... I'm not saying things don't go missing at the post office, but still... hope you all have a lovely rest of this gloomy day 🙂
So, I just finished up my first round with them... I’m expecting my period to start this Sunday, since that’s been the pattern so far... I haven't really noticed any major side effects, other than feeling incredibly hungry immediately after I take them, which actually makes me feel a bit lightheaded and dizzy... and honestly, I'm also starting to get a little worried that they aren't giving me a full, even tan everywhere😲
Olivia Green46 said:man... I actually had a package stuck at the border once, I think it was right around 500 grams, and they ended up charging me a much lower rate than usual 🙂
By the way, how long does this whole Red Cross Week thing last? I might be sending some stuff out next week, so I just wanted to check the timing first...
Some lady told me it’s happening this week, but honestly, you can never take their word for it... 😠
mellowsurfer34 and I both got ripped off by this woman $4.75 and she didn't even give me a heads-up, which just made my blood boil because I had already walked all the way to the Post Office feeling perfectly fine... I had everything ready, including ten bucks in cash, but then she weighs the package at 101 grams and suddenly I’m being told I owe an extra couple of quarters for the difference, which is basically the weight of a single feather from my parakeet 😠😠😠 and then on top of that, she hasn't even factored in the charge for the Red Cross donation yet. She didn't say a word about any of it, just demanded the money, so naturally I snapped back asking what the heck $5.00 was going on since the receipt clearly showed $12.50, and I wasn't even truly angry about the extra change—it was more about how incredibly rude she was being to people... if she doesn't want to be working at the Post Office, there are plenty of other people out there who would love the job and actually treat customers with some decency.😁
Thomas Roberts9 said:Are you serious???? That’s quite a lot to deal with... next time you see your primary care doctor, please do tell them that you need something specifically for pain management. If they happen to ask—though they probably won't—you might suggest mentioning that your period is coming up soon; since you have to schedule appointments ahead of time with an OBGYN, you likely won't be able to get a prescription in time. My own family doctor didn't ask me anything, but when I went in to get a referral for something else, I mentioned how absolutely agonizing my cramps are and how I'm practically rolling around on the floor in pain, asking if there was any pill that actually works fast. She ended up prescribing me some ibuprofen granules. They're alright, I suppose, though I still prefer Ketoral, even if it takes two whole hours to finally kick in.😢 😢
Or, perhaps next time, you could just tell your gynecologist that you already tried the Advil and it did absolutely nothing, and maybe then she might feel inclined to prescribe something a bit more potent.
Yeah, a few other women have told me the same thing, you know how it is, some people deal with it and others don't, and apparently, if your uterus is tilted slightly like mine is, then when all that blood flow starts pumping, it just creates this extra pressure that leads to those intense pains. But I still don't get it, because when I asked her, she was just like, "Well, if everything is normal and your tests are clear, why would you be in pain?" and that was it... that was the only answer I got. And then she suggested that Neofen stuff, so now I’m sitting here popping four or five pills a day and still waiting an eternity for them to actually take effect. The worst part is that on the first day, I can barely even manage to swallow a pill because I spend the entire day stuck in the bathroom, and lately, the pain has been so bad I’ve actually been throwing up. My grandma even tried giving me some of her back pain meds, but those were even worse for me...
So, back when I was over at Dr. Miller's office and asked if she could recommend anything for these cramps because they were just twisting me inside out, she basically told me there isn't any real cure for it at all, and that my best bet was just to go pick up some Advil... she didn't really offer anything else more substantial, which is honestly so frustrating...
Sarah Lewis23 said:I was taking them until last month and then I just stopped...
and now my period is two weeks late 😠
Honestly, what you're experiencing is totally normal, and it happens to almost everyone after stopping birth control. I was on Diane for three years straight, and once I finally quit, it took about six months for my cycle to actually get back to its regular rhythm... everything just kind of stabilized on its own eventually. Your ovaries basically need some time to relearn how to function independently since they’ve been relying on those hormones to do all the heavy lifting for so long. If it starts really bothering you or making you anxious, though, you should definitely just head to your OBGYN; they can always prescribe something specifically to help regulate things. That’s actually what happened with me, because my first couple of cycles after quitting were delayed by over forty days, and then the third one was maybe two weeks late, and the next one was even later... but then, out of nowhere, things just smoothed out and I didn't even end up needing the extra meds. So, please don't worry too much. The only thing you really need to watch out for is that once you stop taking them, you're at your most fertile... 😉 🙂
Brandon Carter said:I actually managed to sort out that issue with Nimesulide. Because of some anemia, I had to get a blood transfusion about three years ago. While I was at the hospital, they stopped my cycle a few times because it wasn't good for me to lose any more blood while they were trying to replenish it. After I got discharged, they prescribed Yasmin to make sure my cycles didn't get too heavy again. For the first four months, I was literally screaming from the pain during my period; I was pacing around the house like a madwoman. Just to be clear, I never used to have pain like this before. It got so bad that no painkiller or tea helped one bit. I actually walked into a pharmacy in tears, explained everything to the pharmacist, and begged for anything just so I wouldn't lose my mind. She recommended Nimesulide. Within about ten minutes of taking it, the pain was gone and I slept like a baby. Aside from killing the pain, Nimesulide also helps with inflammation, almost like an antibiotic effect. Thankfully, I haven't had those issues in quite a while, but I always keep some Nimesulide on hand just in case. 🙂
Does anyone know how much Nimulid costs these days?
So, I’ve been on them for almost three weeks now... I haven't really dealt with any side effects, though I might have put on a little weight 😠😠😠😠 , but honestly, I'm assuming that was just from the Easter weekend since I spent the whole time basically overindulging from sunrise to sunset. As for the Trinovum, I haven't quite figured it out yet, other than the fact that if I take it late at night—like, say, around midnight—I get hit with this intense hunger that lasts for three days straight where I can barely eat anything... I'm starting to feel hungry enough to get dizzy! I try my best to avoid eating anything after I take it. It's such a different experience compared to when I was on Diane, because back then, I didn't gain a single ounce. ugh
Nicholas Morris6 said:I got my first period when I was 12—and man, it was brutal. Honestly, every single month after that just got progressively worse. I’m talking about feeling like I was actually dying. My principal used to drive me straight to the ER every 28 days just so they could hook me up to an IV and give me some shots... and honestly? Nothing ever really worked. Ketoral, Voltaren, you name it—they’d dull the edges a bit, but they never actually fixed anything. My whole life basically revolved around counting down the days until my next cycle, and the panic would set in every time a new month rolled around. Things were slightly more manageable once I started on birth control pills—which was great at the time, though obviously, those aren't exactly "healthy" either. Then I had my baby at 23... everything was fine for about six months postpartum, and then—bam—the pain came back with a vengeance. It wasn't just "drive me to the ER for an injection" anymore; I was literally passing out in the emergency room. Eventually, on my gynecologist's recommendation, I went with a Mirena IUD. Since then? Not only is the pain gone, but the periods themselves have vanished. Seriously, anyone who has been through the absolute hell I went through with my cycles can understand what a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I feel like a completely different person. I don't spend my days dreading the next one, wondering if it'll kill me, or praying someone is home to call 911. I don't know how old you guys are, and look, I'm not here to preach or tell anyone what to do—I just wanted to share my experience. I'm 36 now, and I can finally say I'm living like a "normal" woman.
I totally hear you... I went through the exact same thing. When I first started my period, everything was fine and I didn't feel much at all, but then after a little while, it started happening every other month, and eventually, it became absolutely every single month. It was pure torture... we're talking diarrhea, vomiting, aching in my kidneys, my back, these intense cramping sensations in my front... I don't even know how to describe it properly, but nothing helped. The pain would always be at its worst for the first two days before slowly tapering off, but it was a monthly nightmare. When I turned 20, I started using contraception and the pain actually stayed away for about a year and a half, but then it came roaring back, and I've been dealing with those horrific cramps every month ever since. I never went to the ER though, mostly because I couldn't explain to my mom just how much it hurt—you know how it is, if she isn't feeling it, then she thinks nobody is... so now, since I know exactly which day it's coming, I just take a pill first thing in the morning so I don't have to wait for the pain to kick in, and that helps keep things somewhat okay... I asked doctors if something was actually wrong, but I've done all the ultrasounds and tests and everything comes back normal... no issues with my liver or anything else. They just told me it happens because my uterus is slightly tilted, so when the blood flows, it causes those intense spasms...👎 👎😠
