Karen Reyes4 said:It would be really helpful if you just specified which doctor you saw, so we actually know what we're talking about 😉. I went to Dr. Miller and it was fine. You obviously went to someone else.

Those people at Mercy Hospital are straight-up criminals! It feels like these doctors aren't even sane when they're off the clock, so why should we expect them to be any different while they're working?
I personally know a woman who had several procedures there, and she’d consistently end up back home dealing with horrific infections right after leaving their care!!!!

Ashley Vaughn79 said:I have a doctor to recommend—maybe someone already mentioned him, I don't have the time to dig through every single post. Anyway, Dr. Fistonić over on Preradović Street, he’s private practice, and honestly, he’s great. Most importantly, he’s actually positive. You can ask him anything, call him, whatever.

I’ve been through plenty of them, mostly the public clinics, and I am beyond disappointed with how they handle things—doesn't matter if it's a male or female doctor.
It ranges from treating me like an idiot to just snapping at you for asking a question and kicking you out of the office. Then there’s the cheapness—they’ll skimp on tests, so if you have a bad Pap smear, they won't even bother sending you out for bacterial or viral testing.
I see Topalović being mentioned here, but he didn't leave much of an impression on me. And the worst part is the nurses at that student clinic; they act like if you aren't a life-or-death emergency, they won't see you, no matter how much pain, burning, or itching you're dealing with. What kind of nonsense is that?! Maybe I don't feel like it's urgent right now, but in a month or two, I’ll definitely be in trouble once an infection spreads to my pelvic area or whatever. Not to mention if I have symptoms so bad I can't even focus on college or work.

It was a total disaster. I still remember when I had my first infection; I cycled through four different gynecologists in six months and none of them could figure it out. They just kept prescribing vaginal suppositories that did absolutely nothing, and to top it off, they had the nerve to imply my boyfriend was cheating on me and re-infecting me every time—even though he wasn't. We used protection every single time and we were using the same medications. Besides, we weren't even having sex while I was being treated. What, did I catch it through some spiritual connection or something?! And oh, the geniuses—they told me it was because of wearing tight pants. Nobody listened to my actual symptoms, and in the end, it turned out to be a urological issue. But would any of those "experts" have thought to send me for full swabs or to a urologist first if they actually knew what they were doing?

Then there was that famous Topalović who told me I had PCOS, which was later proven completely wrong. Or the doctor over in Siget who wouldn't even consider sending me for HPV or Chlamydia tests after three separate visits. When I finally asked him why this was happening, he basically told me it happens to girls who start having sex early or are promiscuous (I was 20!).

Whatever the case, I don't know why I was foolish enough not to go to a private doctor sooner. I’d advise all the girls: no matter how much money you have, go private. Don't hoard your cash because you can't put a price on health. It’s better to skip a few outings or give up a little luxury than to pay a few hundred bucks once a year to someone who treats you like a person rather than a symptom or a diagnosis—someone who will actually answer your questions and order the necessary tests.

It’s better than finding out ten years later that you’re infertile or something similar!

I haven't read everything everyone is saying here either, but I can certainly agree with the lady above.

I feel like I’ve had every possible infection except for HPV.
Drink cranberry juice. I constantly deal with urinary tract issues. They always just throw antibiotics at me. And then, right when summer hits, I'm fine. As soon as winter rolls around, I get sick again and it's back to the antibiotics... until I discovered cranberries. I read everything I could find about them in magazines and online. Honestly, I feel better without the pain just by using cranberries than I ever did with antibiotics. I used to take Ninur—that stuff for those crazy E. coli and Strep infections in the urinary system.
Ninur worked exactly the same way cranberries do for me.
Once you clear out the urinary infections, then you'll know if something is strictly gynecological. Though, urinary infections cause a total imbalance in that area. The urinary tract is separated from the vagina by only a thin membrane. Bacteria pass through there like they're moving through gauze—that's how I picture it.
It’s almost inevitable that you’ll feel it—that weird itching, stinging, or general irritation around the vaginal area or the lips caused by a urinary tract infection.
It’s all deeply interconnected.
So, yeah, you could be a total virgin and still deal with all that chaos just from catching a common cold.
As for those gynecologists who claim these issues are strictly due to promiscuity and other nonsense? Honestly, I’d revoke their medical licenses because they’re just peddling stupidity!

Daniel Lopez said:I used to feel the exact same way, but honestly, I find it much easier to see a male doctor now... 😁 And I can't even tell you how many days I spent mentally bracing myself just for the fact that it would be a man instead of a woman 🙄

Look, ladies, the gender of the doctor doesn't actually matter. What matters is whether they have a conscience and know what they're doing. Personally, I’ve always felt like female gynecologists treated me like I was just a piece of lumber. I once had this absolute lunatic working at a clinic near downtown Chicago who shoved her hand in there like I was actively trying to have a baby, even though I've never given birth in my life!
She was yelling at me, too—basically telling me if she could be rough, then I shouldn't be sitting there whimpering! I screamed because it hurt, plain and simple. I was young and naive back then, but if I were older now, I’d probably give her a solid kick to the head just to show her what actual roughness feels like.

Justin Nelson16 said:Hey there, ladies...
I could use some help here. If anyone knows a solid gynecologist in the city who actually specializes in HPV and related issues, please let me know....
Thanks in advance....

👍 3 Mačkov Square, near the French Republic Plaza—that’s where you’ll find Dr. Mladen Miljan. Honestly, he is an absolute gem of a human being. He’s polite, probably in his mid-40s or maybe closer to 50, and he treats you like royalty. I stumbled upon him years ago at the clinic over on Savska.
He even gives you a little paper skirt to wear, so you aren't just walking around with your bare backside exposed in front of him.
There isn't any slapping your ass, none of those stupidly sexist comments, and zero puritanical nonsense; if you happen to be seeing someone different every single night, he doesn't care about that, he only cares about your actual health. He’ll ask you everything necessary to monitor your wellbeing, so don't hold back on the details. You get your own file, your medical history, all that good stuff....
You either bring in your own samples or hand them to him so he can send them off to Rockefeller. It’s been a while since I went, so I don't remember the exact logistics of how that part works now.
But man, he is EXPENSIVE!!!!! Like, a standard check-up is roughly $133 and you definitely need to make an appointment ahead of time.
Plus, he’ll actually call you if you want him to relay your results.
He isn't rough at all; he has very gentle hands.

rustymoose54 said:Dr. Wahid over at the Trnje Medical Center—I honestly think they could still take on some new patients if anyone’s looking.

I have to admit, he’s never actually performed an exam on me; I usually just swing by to pick up my referrals, but the guy is solid. He’s smart, stays current on everything, and actually does his homework.😉

If you're heading to Trnje, Dr. Chedid and Jean are also there working alongside Wahid.
In my experience, they're great, and his nurse, Dubravka, is a total gem.
As for him, he’s just a chill guy. He doesn't walk around acting like he's the smartest man in the room, he actually listens to what you have to say, and he’s just a regular person. Maybe a little eccentric, but that might just be my take on things.
I did end up waiting forever to get my paperwork processed, though it wasn't even their fault—there was just some massive headache happening down in the lab.
It’s always a zoo in there...
