When I remember sleeping on a train station platform in Ljubljana back in '93 because of him 🙂
Bad, just bad!
I was actually at his concert in Ljubljana back then too—and even caught him again at Šalat a year later. That Ljubljana show was killer—great crowd, great vibes, great sound—but at Šalat, it was just 500 cold, bored people watching 🤮
That said, I'll say it: Iggy with The Stooges last night was way better than both those shows combined 🙂
Hey, he really gave it everything he had last night 🙏 🙏
His set, along with SY, was definitely the highlight of the festival.
Ugh, and to think I almost skipped him yesterday because I thought he’d be a snooze fest 😵
Edit:
Gonna drop my thoughts on the rest now before I lose interest:
The Hold Steady — after all the hype, I expected way more. Decent enough
pub rock, but nothing special. Honestly, I just sat there thinking: "Man, that's basically what Vatropod will look like when they grow up" 🙂
AFD — predictably boring at times, though they actually sounded awesome for a second there when they forced me to start jumping around like I was a kid again
!!! — started out strong, totally unexpected, and the stereo sound was phenomenal (shoutout to the guy at the mixing board 🙏). They turned into Skunk Anansie halfway through, which at least gave me a good excuse to hurry over so I wouldn't miss Iggy Pop & The Stooges.
Iggy Pop & The Stooges — see above. Thanks to him for being just Iggy last night instead of Pop.
Kultur Shock — I mean, I was curious to see what kind of scam Đino banana pulled on Americans and how "maći moj malen" would work with a grunge vibe. I'll admit, their stage presence is impressive, but after five songs, it just became unlistenable and I bailed right before the rain hit... 🙂
