Someone on a forum once wrote in their bio that a person's true character is defined by what they do when nobody is watching. It makes me wonder: how many Americans would actually step up if paying taxes were voluntary? You could lay it all out for people—the way we all think we know everything—and say: "Look, pay your share so we can actually build a functioning society and have a real country to live in. If you don't, our seniors will end up destitute on the streets and we'll be leaving kids to fend for themselves in alleyways."
Seriously, though, how many Americans would actually stay honest?🤷
Wanting to pay taxes isn't some grand display of patriotism; it's just a mandate forced on us by a government that doesn't always represent our home. Let’s be real—the people running this country, regardless of their political party, aren't exactly anyone's idea of heroes, and they sure as hell aren't synonymous with my homeland. That's one thing. Another thing? This massive pile of real estate didn't just appear because of the state, and it won't stay here just because of them. Who actually has the right to tax property that is the literal foundation of an American's existence? A home is sacred. It's mine, and it belongs to no one else. Thirdly, in America, taxes mostly just feed a bloated bureaucratic machine—thousands of parasites who collect a paycheck every month just to justify their existence. There's more to it, but I don't feel like typing a novel. At any given moment, this government could spiral into a total economic disaster, and they’d still try to grab a piece of my sanctuary. Not happening.
