Is it just me, or has the whole "scouting" process become completely absurd lately? I remember when you’d see a kid break through in a local league and maybe a big club would take a flyer on them. Now, it feels like every single teenager with a decent touch is being hunted by three different giants simultaneously.
I was watching a match last weekend and couldn't help but think about how much pressure these kids are under before they've even hit their prime. One minute they're playing in front of a few hundred people, and the next, there are massive bidding wars happening in boardrooms halfway across the world. It feels less like a sport and more like a high-stakes stock market for human beings.
Does anyone else feel like this constant chasing of "the next big thing" is actually hurting the development of young players, or is this just how the business has to work now?
Hey there, fellow forum enthusiasts! I’m dropping by today to chat about a persistent little headache that’s been bugging me for quite some time now.
It involves my Apple laptop, which seems to have this peculiar habit where, every single time I boot up macOS, it refuses to connect to the Wi-Fi right away—instead, I’m stuck sitting there waiting for about a full minute. During that time, the little icon turns orange, just staring back at me blankly, showing absolutely zero available networks until that sixty-second timer finally runs out.
And here’s the kicker: since I upgraded to an SSD, I actually end up waiting longer for the Wi-Fi to find its footing than I do for the entire operating system to finish loading!
What I find truly fascinating, though, is how perfectly normal everything behaves if the computer just goes into standby mode; as soon as it wakes up, it connects instantly, and it’s the exact same story with hibernation—it snaps online in a split second.
Since this has been an ongoing issue for years, I’ve tried just about everything, including reinstalling different versions of the OS—I've gone from Windows 7 to 10 and now I'm on 7 again—but the problem persists regardless. I even went as far as swapping out the Wi-Fi card and replacing my Xfinity router with a brand new one, yet nothing has changed.
It’s just this strange loop where that little orange star icon appears, and then I’m left twiddling my thumbs for a minute before the network finally shows up and decides to connect.
To give you an idea of the setup, the router is sitting just about three feet away from the laptop.
With the routers provided by Verizon, if one happens to kick the bucket, they just hand you a new one for free without making you jump through hoops to sign a brand-new contract!
What you’re saying about this whole situation is spot on—it's basically just a way for them to line their pockets even more, isn't it?
I have a strong feeling we might be looking at a faulty driver here, so why not try rolling back to an older version and see if that stabilizes things? Alternatively, if you’ve had the thing open recently, could it be that the connector didn't quite snap into place perfectly when you were putting it all back together?
So, I was just scrolling through the web and stumbled upon this page over at Emmezeta and it got me thinking—is this actually the specific little teddy bear I’ve been looking for, or am I perhaps mistaken and chasing after a completely different one?
Does anyone happen to know where I might be able to track down a significantly larger, plush teddy bear somewhere in the vicinity of Osijek, Vinkovci, or El Paso? Honestly, I’m not even concerned about the price tag at this stage...
