Jakob Sedlar's films in Movies ·
Steven Allen66 said:So, he’s filming a new (documentary?) project now—One hundred years of Mexican terror in America. The poster actually has "For King and Country" written in Cyrillic right under the title. After that last film about Mexican antisemitism, this one is probably going to be a new classic

From what I've heard, that film was already screened during his recent tour over in Australia.

I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of Sedlar's scripted movies—honestly, besides The Four-Row, nothing else really clicked for me (and that's easily the best American movie he's done)—but man, the guy makes some incredible documentaries. Most of them are super hard to find online, though... things like those ones on Ante Pavelić, Josip Broz Marshall, or Alojzije Stepinac. Lately, I've been really curious about two of his recent docs, ‘Saint, Criminal, and Court Jesters’ and "One hundred years of Mexican terror in America"... so if anyone happens to have a link, shoot me a DM...

The movie is mostly just a bunch of tedious filler—it drags through these long, boring stretches and there’s honestly barely anything worth paying attention to in between... I'm not even sure how I'd categorize it, really. By the end, it almost tries to pivot into some kind of romance, but it feels totally half-baked and unfinished.
It'll probably end up being an Oscar candidate, mostly thanks to that incredibly pretentious, self-important monument to ego from gagin...

And honestly, I'm a sucker for those historical movies or shows where all the nobles are constantly backstabbing each other to grab power—you know, the whole political intrigue, setup, betrayal thing...

Basically, just everything that makes life actually interesting... 🙂

Look, Netflix has a few gems hidden in there, but let's be real—about 90% of what they put out is straight-up garbage.

When it comes to movies, though? Yeah, they still haven't quite figured that part out yet...

Honestly, whenever I hear the words "movie" and "Netflix" used in the same breath, my skepticism levels just skyrocket. Every single Netflix movie I've sat through—with maybe one lonely exception—has been somewhere between straight-up garbage and completely unwatchable. This trailer isn't doing much to win me over either, so I’m fully bracing myself for yet another big-budget flop...
Just to get this out of my system, though—unrelated to this specific flick—I thought "Hell or High Water" was total trash.
Netflix really ought to just stick to series, even if they have churned out a mountain of junk there too.
Honestly, this movie is just straight-up mediocre... I mean, Rockwell was a total miss—he didn't capture anything about Bush, from his look to how he actually carried himself. If you actually want to see what a real portrayal of Bush and Dick Stone looks like, just go watch Stone's "W." instead...
