slydriver52 said:There it is. How am I even supposed to explain how you're wrong?
Gonna go ahead and flip the script again...
Pro tennis players don't eat bananas for the carbs; it's mainly about the potassium and staying hydrated...
I'm on vacation, so I actually have some free time today...
You think I’d be posting this much if I wasn't?
Don't take it personally, but I'm done arguing with anyone else...

Wait, so you're telling me what two chemistry professors told me—and yeah, I asked them in real life, either during class or on their own time—means absolutely nothing? Bananas for hydration? Interesting... first time I've heard that. It's true that fructose absorbs slower than other monosaccharide types, but it's still a simple sugar and works fine for quick energy... just watch out for those blood sugar spikes... my old high school chem teacher used to say we eat bananas mostly to feel full without feeling heavy... some athletes even grab a few squares of chocolate during training, not after, just purely for the fuel...

I only jumped into this because the whole "my dad is stronger than your dad" vibe was getting annoying, except here it was "my scientist is smarter than your scientist"... Like briskjackal5 said, if you consider the basics enough to get where you want to be with your body, then fine. But if you aren't planning on becoming a chemist, none of this matters to you (or me)...🙂

Later!

seriously, what is wrong with you people??? you just sit there behind your screens reading random stuff online and then try to lecture me about "science" when you don't even know who wrote it or have any actual experience??? use some logic, man... how can something complex be absorbed before something simple? is it easier/faster to shred a piece of paper and then toss it, or just toss it after it's already shredded??? and regarding fructose, please tell me you haven't seen what most athletes eat during long cardio sessions, if they even bother eating at all (like tennis players)... simple sugars need to be there to give you that quick energy hit while keeping you from feeling empty... it's that simple... I don't get how you managed to misinterpret my last post, and why on earth are we debating carbs in a thread about Protein?

Glucose hits your bloodstream first, so people usually just grab some sugar and water when they're pushing through a heavy session for that quick boost... Same goes for fructose, but let's be real, everyone just has plain glucose sitting in their pantry...
Nobody's gonna munch on chocolate or candy during a workout, so glucose is really just for those specific situations we talked about...

And honestly, for Ronnie, it doesn't matter what he drinks—not once he starts injecting... 😁

slydriver52 said:When you chemically bond glucose and fructose, you get sucrose, whereas things like starch, cellulose, and glycogen are all just glucose polymers (polysaccharides).

Look, since it's pretty obvious you don't know what you're talking about, let me clear this up: glucose polymers and glucose itself aren't the same thing.☕
And while you're at it, maybe drop a link to where you actually found that text about maltodextrin? I'd love to see the actual references and find out when that was even published...

Technically it ends up being the same deal—whether it's a single link in a chain or a chain three miles long, it's made of the same molecule... the only difference is the shape and how fast it breaks down...

All these petty arguments are pointless, you guys are totally missing the big picture... maybe if your kids (if you ever have any) end up studying chemistry or biology one day, you could hand them a textbook and tell them to actually read it... 🙂

Benjamin Rogers3 said:What’s the current scene like in Tampa regarding mixed martial arts—you know, just general MMA? Is there still much going on over at Pit Bull, or should I not even bother checking it out? Also, is there anything else worth looking into for MMA in the surrounding area?

Nah... Pit Bull never really had an MMA scene to begin with...

That's just not how it works... you've only got systems in the split...

Anthony Green6 said:Alright, so I’ve officially decided to pull the trigger on MMA—now the big question is, can you actually expect a decent, proper beatdown during training? Or are these guys all super understanding once you start showing up? Also, does anyone know of a good MMA club around the suburbs of Chicago or the city itself? Thanks!

Initiation means walking on hot coals, swimming with sharks, eating raw bat organs, and then getting absolutely wrecked like a kitten (once they stop playing football for the Dallas Cowboys xD)🤣 🤣 🤣

Just messing with you, man. You’ve got plenty of time before you hit those real heavy sparring sessions... 🙂

So, just like the title says—I’m totally stuck between these two BV styles.
I’ve been training Savate for a little while now, but I’m looking to make the switch... if you guys could drop some answers, I’d really appreciate it.

-Who are the fighters actually dominating in K-1 and other circuits right now?
-I'm 15 years old, about 5'7"+, and weighing somewhere between 110-130 lbs... still growing, obviously... so what would fit me best given my age and build?
-Does kickboxing include knee strikes? I don't mean in their official matches, but do they practice them during training since they do mixed competitions where knees are allowed, like K-1?
-And are there any good KB clubs in the Chicago area? (Since I'm leaning more towards kickboxing lately).

(I know there are spots over in the suburbs, but if there's anything in the city... I'm not lazy, it's just hard to find the time with school and everything).
Thanks a ton
Also, sorry if I messed up any names or if these questions sound a bit dumb 😁

It doesn't really matter which one you pick, honestly... they're pretty similar... MT includes knees and elbows, but kickboxing doesn't use them at all, not even in drills...
pretty sure they aren't even allowed in K-1...

Jesse Ruiz3 said:I have a question 🙂
I’m on the shorter side—about 5'2"—but I’ve got plenty of power; my fast-twitch muscles definitely take precedence over the slow ones. Right now, I'm following a specific summer regimen designed to boost my speed, endurance, and raw strength simultaneously... essentially, I'm doing hybrid muscle training.
I want to pick up a martial art that is truly effective and devastating against street fighters. I need something where the techniques for both defense and offense allow me to actually overcome a typical aggressor.
😛

So, what I'm wondering is: which martial arts focus most on pure strength, which prioritize speed, and so on? Ultimately, which discipline would be the absolute best fit for someone with my build—short, powerful, and weighing around 117 lbs?

Also, I've recently started practicing parkour. 🙂

(My ultimate goal is to become formidable in combat, because I need to be able to hold my own against my father, who was trained by the military and trains every single day.) 😁

might help 👍

recro, this is totally offtopic... ugh. I’m thinking about just grabbing some wrist wraps online, but if anyone’s actually done much online shopping for gear, is it worth it? Or should I just head out and hit up some shops in Los Angeles instead? Also, should I grab bandages too, or just stick to the wraps? thanks...
