I’ve been thinking a lot lately about that specific moment of pure euphoria when you finally get that acceptance letter in the mail. You know the one—the whole family celebrates, the neighborhood knows, and for a second, it feels like your entire future is paved in gold. It’s such a massive emotional high for both the kids and the parents.

But lately, I’ve been seeing more and more instances where that initial excitement turns into a massive, expensive letdown. It feels like the "safe bet" institutions we were told to aim for are becoming increasingly unstable or just plain disconnected from what students actually need to succeed. It’s heartbreaking to see someone pour their heart, soul, and every cent of their family's savings into a specific path, only to have the rug pulled out from under them a few months in.

It makes me wonder if we're putting too much pressure on these specific "prestige" institutions to be everything for everyone. If the environment isn't what was promised, or if the stability isn't there, does the name of the school even matter anymore?

Has anyone else seen families go through this? That sudden shift from celebrating a big win to dealing with the fallout of a massive life change?

I'm leaning toward Ghana—mostly because home-field advantage seems to be the deciding factor lately—but I’ll give the Ivory Coast a look too. After that, maybe Cameroon, or perhaps Nigeria pulls off their fourth straight title.
