It feels like every time we get some momentum, someone goes down with another nagging injury. Is it just me, or is the physical toll of this sport getting harder to manage lately?
The other day, I came across a beautiful little parable on an online forum—a story shared by a brother—and I wanted to paraphrase it here for you all:
"A little lamb wandered down to a spring to get a drink. Just as it leaned down to sip the water, it caught its own reflection—or rather, it saw the reflection of a wolf standing right behind it, wearing a cunning, self-satisfied grin, ready to strike. The lamb looked up at him and asked:
—What did I ever do to you that makes you want to eat me?
The wolf snapped back:
—Last fall, you insulted my mother!
—But I wasn't even born last fall—the lamb countered.
—Fine, you weren't—the wolf continued—but one day, you muddied the river where I drink!
—But I was drinking downstream from you; there was no way I could have done that!
And so, the wolf simply ate the lamb just to avoid having to finish such a pointless argument."
For quite some time now, I’ve been watching, reading, and feeling increasingly unsettled by the situation unfolding here—a situation that has escalated to a point where it feels like there is no turning back.
It seems the wolf has finally found his calling; he’s relishing being a predator, baring his teeth at everyone, refusing to be anything else—he just wants to remain exactly what he is: a wolf.
I spent four months just observing before I finally decided to register on this forum. Back then, I was truly impressed by the dedication shown over the years by the honorable members here—my brothers and sisters in faith—led by Adura, in their efforts to provide relevant, responsible explanations and interpretations of Islam to the wide audience this forum attracts. I want to emphasize that word *responsibility*, because it’s the most important thing here. What is written here stays here for years, read by thousands of people who might stumble upon it. Therefore, competence paired with responsibility is absolutely vital—especially since we will all answer to God for our actions, including everything we type and leave behind on this platform.
With that sense of duty in mind, I decided to join the discussion regarding "Muslims and Jehovah's Witnesses." My goal was strictly limited: I didn't want to engage in fruitless debates, attempts at conversion, petty low blows, or insults. I simply wanted to present certain facts in dialogue with the Jehovah's Witnesses to offer a humble contribution—so that if anyone were ever torn between Islam and the teachings of the Jehovah's Witnesses, they might find clear answers to their questions in one place. Initially, the individual we are discussing actually supported me via DM, encouraging me to pursue this path. But when the insults, trolling, and cheap shots started flying at me from others in that thread, that very same person shocked me by suddenly jumping into the fray with these two posts:
To be honest, I was more than a little stunned that a fellow Muslim could hold such a stance... I mean, if they had at least "insulted" the Bible, I might have understood... but in the interest of "keeping the peace," I chose not to kick up a fuss, even if it meant letting that specific topic be lost forever due to such an act.
In the months that followed, that very competence and responsibility that once characterized the majority of the honorable men and women of faith on this forum began to be used as a cudgel by this same individual. With every passing day, I felt more and more dismayed, knowing only one thing for certain:
We are the ones who must adapt to Islam, not force Islam to adapt to us.
This "Islamic reformer"—who hasn't admitted to SINGLE mistake during all of this—clearly hasn't realized that.
The "crowd" he claims has "conspired" against him actually encompasses a massive circle of people. And what’s most striking is that all of us, along with myself, hold vastly different opinions and perspectives on various issues—which I see as a strength, not a weakness. Despite our diverse views, we have all remained united by one fundamental principle:
It’s us who need to adapt ourselves to Islam—not the other way around.
So, from my humble perspective, the tension involving our brother fadedlynx39, Kobi, sister Alem, Sunasce, and that whole group of brothers and sisters isn't actually the root cause... it’s just a symptom of what I mentioned above.
And honestly? Calling a fellow believer a terrorist... that was the absolute breaking point. That’s where things went too far.
Anyway, let me circle back to how this all started.
Kobi, fadedlynx39, BigJason, Adura, Derviš, sjena, FMN, Kenneth Peterson5, Rufaija, brezovka, and myself—we aren't some helpless lambs being led to slaughter here.
As for you, rowdyhawk10—go ahead and show your teeth... though we both know they were fake to begin with.
Selam.
