Thyroid cancer
in Health ·
Hey everyone, I know this thread has been around for a while, but Google eventually steered me your way. About four years ago, my mom was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer—the kind that had already started spreading toward her shoulder and head. The surgery went well, and after she finished her radioactive iodine treatments, the cancer seemed to be in remission. However, about three weeks ago, she noticed some new lumps on her neck. After running the standard tests and scans, her doctor mentioned something about "differential carcinoma." He didn't really sit down to explain what that actually implies or what specific type of cancer we're looking at now, so I'm hoping someone here might have some insight into what that term means.
