nimbleheron47 said:Btw, sorry this thread isn't more active. I really hope it’s not because Tweety and I are hovering right on the edge of plus-size—we tend to talk about those numbers a lot, and since we're usually pretty active here, it might look like that's all we ever discuss.

Most of the shops we bring up are specifically plus-size stores, so the sizing naturally runs higher.

Honestly, I wish I’d known about these places back when I was 30+ lbs lighter. Back then, I used to just wander around in my husband's oversized sweats because I had zero motivation to walk into a store and ask, "Do you have a 20? How about a 22?"

Plus, I wanted cute clothes even back then, not just stuff that fits. 😍

It seems like international brands finally caught on—thankfully, we don't have to settle for baggy sacks or anything that looks like it was designed for a 70-year-old. 🙄

So, ladies with great curves—please chime in! If you've ordered something recently, share the link. There aren't many American sites where you can actually find honest reviews tailored to fuller figures. 😢

It really helps me out when someone posts where they shop and what the actual fit, fabric, and sizing feel like. I can lurk through other threads on this forum all day, but that’s just voyeurism—it doesn't help me much practically compared to the info shared right here. 😘

👍

I feel like an intruder here, to be honest. The only thing I've actually picked up from a plus-size section was a single pair of jeans from the C&A plus line. Everything else I buy from the standard collections.🤷

My apologies—I provided you all with some incorrect information earlier. 🙂

I wasn't actually at Lindex; I was over at Next. 😵

Pardon me. image

@nimbleheron47—it's more or less just a matter of proportions for me. 😂

Honestly, I could have guessed—nothing much happening for us again. 🙄

It’s just frustrating when people act surprised that my wardrobe is an issue—but then you ask them where they actually see a size 44 or 46 (and I'm definitely not talking about a baggy potato sack), and suddenly they're speechless. 😠 It feels pretty pointless hoping for anything useful when I'm reading these retail flyers.

On the bright side, since there aren't those customs fees anymore, I guess I'll just let the mailman 🤣 handle my fashion sense from now on. Peace out. ☕

I actually spotted those jeans on Next's site and went looking for them in stores specifically. Since they're nowhere to be found, I think I'll just order them online. Looks like the mail carrier will be my stylist too.😁

Did you ever pick up anything from the ASOS Curve line?

I happened to take a look—though I wasn't exactly conducting a deep dive—just glancing through as I passed by.

I’m certainly not impressed. The prices are hovering somewhere north of H&M or Gap, yet the actual quality? It’s nothing special.
I noticed their website lists all sorts of sizes, but browsing the racks in the shop, I didn't see anything larger than a size 14.

But again, I’ll reiterate—I wasn't looking at everything with a magnifying glass.

Edit: The selection in person is significantly more limited than what they show online.

Could someone drop the link for the first one?

She’s absolutely stunning 😁

Swimsuits, bikinis, winter coats...

It’s only ever been T-shirts where I’ve run into trouble. 😁

copperfox172 said:Yeah, she said there was, but apparently there's one in town too...

I can't say for sure on that.
What I do know is that Cco West and Arena definitely don't have it.

Maybe Cvjetni?

copperfox172 said:Ladies, which Metro station in NYC actually has the + line? They pulled it from CC1 East and the sweet lady working the counter had absolutely no clue...🙄

I believe there’s a West Gate—though I can't say for certain. 😉

My primary struggle lies in the realm of apparel—specifically because I fall into the size 44/46 range, whereas most "standard" retailers seem content to stock nothing beyond a 42. It’s reached a point where I’ve developed a mental map of which stores are worth my time and which aren't—I don't even bother stepping foot in certain shops anymore.
My go-to spots for anything in the 50+ bracket include places like C&A, H&M, and their various lines, as well as NKD, Kik, and Marks & Spencer.

nimbleheron47 said:You can always try shipping to a small town—like maybe rural Nebraska—if they use standard mail (not sure how they handle their shipping, though). I personally can't be bothered with that—I've only done it when I absolutely, desperately needed something, and clothing just doesn't fall into that category. 🙂

The main thing is using standard mail, since courier services actually require someone to be there to sign for it. With the regular post, they'll just hold onto it for about 15 days before sending it back (you can even give them a call to see if it's arrived 😉).

Honestly, I just don't have the patience for all that extra effort. I'm hoping they change their minds so I can finally go off on them 😁—but it’s not as if I can’t live without it.

Has anyone here ever ordered from ASOS Curve? What’s the actual quality like? How are the sizing standards?

Simply Be gave their response... they have absolutely no intention of bringing it to America 😢

They have some really pretty dresses here. Plenty of plus-size options too. Just keep in mind it's an American shop.

The selection of gowns here is—dare I say—actually quite stunning. One might almost forget the surrounding chaos for a moment. 😍

Has anyone here actually gone through the process of ordering something from overseas lately? I’m curious about the logistics—specifically regarding the shipping reliability, customs headaches, and how the actual delivery plays out once it hits American soil.

nimbleheron47 I don't know—have you actually looked at the stuff they carry at Gap lately? I picked up a dress there about eighteen months ago—it’s one of those completely shapeless, straight-cut pieces that offers zero structure—but it comes with a belt. You just cinch it right where you need to, and suddenly, it actually works. 😉 I’m quite satisfied with her—she wasn't exactly a splurge, either—costing somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 or $40. 😁

nimbleheron47 said:I knew they’d give you a canned response like that, haha. 🤣 Just keep at them. We need to bug them until they actually change their minds. 😬

Yeah, Elvi is kind of tacky. But it’s decent for basics—you know, those black trousers, belted coats, and things like that—mostly because the material is actually good and they hang nicely. I picked up a classic black A-line midi skirt from them once (the link is dead now, out of stock). It doesn't even look like it came from Elvi. 🤣
They also had two or three really nice winter coats/jackets, but everything sold out so I can't find the links. They're fine if you're looking for more classic, neutral pieces. 🙂
Basically, they hooked me with the length of those skirts. Most knee-length skirts elsewhere feel more like minis on me, which isn't really my vibe unless I'm down at the beach in the summer. This black one hits right at the knee, which I love (the description lists the length, so I could measure it beforehand to see where it would land). Plus, the stretchy waistband means they don't slide around.

we should collectively bombard them with emails 🥳
and I really hope they reconsider—they have some great pieces, especially the bras 😍

I am quite fond of that blue jacket/trench coat over at Elvi 😁
but their inventory is incredibly thin 🤷

For now, I'll stick to Lisc to find my bras and just pick up everything else at your standard department stores.

nimbleheron47 said:Well, you can find 44 at the H&M near the mall. The one over by the Arena definitely has it, and CC1 East too... I haven't been to the others in ages, so I can't say for sure.

Back in the day—before they started selling nothing but rags—the H&M in Austria had this amazing "Big is Beautiful" section. You could actually find some decent stuff there. Nowadays, I rarely find anything I actually like at their stores. That said, I did manage to snag some pants this spring that aren't ridiculously short and don't gap at the waist. They fit beautifully, honestly. So, if you dig around, you might get lucky. But you have to hunt for it.

I'm currently on vacation. I'll probably just order from Figleaves once I'm back from the beach.

I recently ordered from this site: http://www.elvi.co.uk/. Shipping was fast and the sizing was spot on. Next time I'll probably go for a 16 since most of their stuff is stretchy—they even have elastic waistbands—so if you're between sizes, I'd recommend sizing down.
Prices are a bit steep, but you can find some reasonable deals during sales. And yeah, the cuts are mostly classic, but I dug up two lovely neutral skirts, one of which I absolutely adore. The clothes arrive neatly folded, and every single piece comes on its own hanger. 🙂 They even threw in a little gift. 😍
It seems like they’ve cleared out a lot of stock; the stuff left on the site is a bit quirky. But they aren't just selling junk, and this denim skirt looks even better in person. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on them—they might have some great classic jackets, like these. Though, yeah, they do lean a bit towards the eccentric side. 😬

I know they carry 44 in the regular H&M section—that's where I usually shop—but I'd really love to check out that plus-size collection. I'll swing by the mall, thanks.😁

That Elvi site definitely has some pieces that are a bit too "grandma" for my taste, though they aren't outrageously expensive.
And they replied to me from that Simply Be page with nothing but a generic automated email. 😠
So, I sent them another one. 🙂

Dana Wilson said:Honestly, don't even bother. It’s all pretty meh, unfortunately...
What kind of sizes are you looking for though?

Everything looks decent enough online—though I haven't actually seen anything in person yet🤷
and the number is either 44 or 46😁

Does anyone know which H&m in the metro area carries their plus-size collection?
Fashion for curvy girls in Fashion ·
You have G-cup bras on your list.
http://shop.lisca.com/hr/rublje/grudnjaci

It is the second to last row in the menu—the selection isn't exactly vast, but they do carry them.😉

However, you’ll never actually find them in a brick-and-mortar store, so I’d suggest sticking to the web shop.

When did you send that inquiry to those Brits? I just sent mine off today, so I am curious if they might have had a change of heart.😁
Fashion for curvy girls in Fashion ·
I tend to source my bras from Lisa's online boutique—provided one takes the time to measure accurately, of course; if you do the math right, there's virtually no room for error. Deliveries generally arrive within two or three days, and I usually wait for those periodic sales where they waive the shipping fees before pulling the trigger on an order.😁

On another note, I stumbled upon this British web shop that carries a lovely selection, though—unfortuntely—they don't offer shipping to the States just yet.😢
Still, I find myself browsing their inventory every so often, bookmarking items so I'll be ready to strike if they ever decide to expand their shipping lanes to America.😁
It would be a welcome development, given that they already cover most of the EU.😁
