Honestly, you’d probably have a better time in Indianapolis than at a derby... 🙂
I definitely agree that things like the stadium atmosphere, the massive choreographies, and those beautiful flares attract crowds—that's just a fact. The same goes for the hype surrounding a big rivalry; that draws people in too.
But what happens in our neck of the woods actually pushes people away from the stadium. It's the stuff like being stuck waiting 25 minutes just to get through the gates, having the police hassle you at the entrance, getting filmed by security cameras, or dealing with all those endless lists of "unwanted" names at the door. It's exhausting.
Also, having good PR before a big match matters more than people realize.
With us, we always seem to run into this issue where the media paints the fans in such a negative light. Then, regular people who aren't even part of the scene watch the news and jump to their own conclusions based on those biased reports.
It's a cycle, and honestly, it's not something that changes overnight.
...but look, the Bad Boys have always been this group—rough around the edges, loud, and unapologetic about who they are. Anyone saying otherwise is just wrong.
I remember back during the era when we were fighting against the policies of Franjo Tuđman; because of the controversy over renaming the stadium, the stands looked emptier than they have in recent seasons. Back then, only maybe 100 or 200 people would even show up for an away game.
