He probably thinks 2160p is just 2K.
Alexander Moore67 said:The 70 is definitely stronger than the 580, but if you can snag a 580 for under 500 bucks--$233???

That's just throwing money away.

Jerry Watson2 said:Exactly, but I wouldn't pay $500 for a 6700XT right now either.

That's why you won't be able to sell your 580 for $100 either.

Jerry Watson2 said:I dumped mine for $110. I was hoping to squeeze out a bit more, but nobody even blinked.

You should've sold it for $220 a year ago.

I can't remember the last time an RTX 3060 was this cheap.

$270 cash.

I've got a GTX 1060 too, man.
Alexander Moore67 said:I've had mine for five years. You won't find anything better or quieter for this price.

I think I've been there already. 🤣

I have the exact same case. Bought it five years ago and it's great. It's dead silent.
Jerry Watson2 said:I noticed some leftover Radeon RX 580 8GB cards popping up in stores for $500. Might be a decent deal for someone building an entry-level gaming rig.

That’s not exactly a steal. They used to go for $667 when they were new.
It might drop, but probably only by about ten bucks at most.

bluesailor16 said:Look, I'm just here for advice from people who actually know their stuff. I'm not trying to start an argument. My graphics card is fine. I just need help deciding what else to buy. I don't want to spend an insane amount of money, just something reasonable that will last as long as my current gear. I need suggestions for a motherboard, RAM, and a CPU. Thanks.

What's your budget?
Bryan Jackson12 said:Hey, I found a sale on this build:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500, 6 cores, 4.2GHz, AM4 socket – 36mo warranty.
CPU cooling: AMD stock – 36mo warranty.
Motherboard: MSI B550M, mATX, DDR4, AM4 socket – 24mo warranty.
RAM: 16GB (2×8) DDR4 3200MHz – 120mo warranty.
SSD: Patriot 512GB NVMe M.2 – 36mo warranty.
GPU: Radeon RX 6600 8GB – 30mo warranty.
PSU: Kolink KL-500M 80, 600W, 80+ bronze – 36mo warranty.
CASE: MS Armor, 2x120mm – 24mo warranty.
Wifi: Yes, wireless adapter, dual antennas 300mbps – 24mo warranty.

I think it would be about $900 if paying cash. Is this a good deal for that price?

Thanks in advance.

The power supply is sketchy.
If you can afford to wait, just hang tight. Prices are bound to drop since they're sitting on massive inventory and nobody's really buying right now.

Prices are just going to keep dropping. If you aren't in a rush, just hang tight.

Ethan Miller96 said:Hey, is it worth dropping $2167 on an Asus ROG Strix rtx3080 12gb? It's brand new in the box, but there's no receipt or warranty included.

No.

Those prices are insane. You could have bought a brand new one for that much.😵
melloweagle28 said:Ouch. I could have fit that in my mini ITX case. I didn't even realize they offered a 35W processor. Honestly, it feels like it might have fallen off a truck at some point. Oh well.

@ostali:
Thanks! I'll grab it at that price then; it's a solid deal. $33 I managed to snag some Black Friday discounts on most of my other parts.

I still need a monitor. Any alternatives to the Dell S2721HGF? Pixel size and sharpness aren't my main priority. I just want something a bit larger. I'm debating whether to go with 1440p and just play at 1080p. Some people say it looks bad, others say they can't tell the difference.

Just go with 1440p. If you've never used 1440p before, you won't notice the difference.
Do you actually play enough online games to need 144Hz?

Yeah, you're right. I did some digging and Mining isn't even related to this.
The same thing is going to happen with cars if this keeps up. New car production is tanking because of chip shortages, which is driving up the price of used ones.
I read a lot about the car market on Reddit—mostly Americans—and everyone says they can sell the cars they bought 3 or 4 years ago for exactly what they paid for them.

wiredotter14 said:It's possible. Demand from miners will definitely drop, plus Ethereum mining is almost over. If I were a professional miner, I'd sell at least half my gear at current prices.

I sold an RX580 on eBay yesterday for $451. My brother originally bought it back in early 2018 for $323, and it's been used for mining about half the time since then. 😁

Bitcoin's price has dropped back to where it was during its first month, and ETH POS mining has already been approaching for two years.
