2012 Racing Season: NASCAR, Indy, F1, and more in Formula 1 ·
neonfox65 said:Can't wait for tomorrow's lineup. First Monaco, then Indy, then NASCAR 🙂

Regarding the IndyCar situation, based on what I've seen during practice, it looks like this new DW 12 chassis is creating a massive "hole" in the air. This means overtaking should be relatively easy, but there's a catch: these cars can also run in a tight "pack." Isn't that exactly what IndyCar was trying to avoid after that Weldon accident back in Las Vegas?

Let's just hope everything goes smoothly and stays safe.

Hey neonfox65, how on earth are you planning to survive through May 27th, Monaco, Indy, and then heading into Charlotte? You really have to pace yourself, man—you can't just go all out at once!🙂

neonfox65 said:I am seriously looking forward to the Indy 500—anyone got a feeling on who’s taking the win this year? I'm personally pulling for the captain...

Well, you aren't wrong there; more often than not, that trophy ends up being hoisted by someone from Penske or Ganassi.

I’d still give Andretti Autosport a fighting chance, and don't sleep on Panther Racing—they've been showing some seriously impressive results lately. Plus, we have Ed Carpenter in the mix as a driver-owner, which always adds an interesting layer to the field.

Maybe even Tony Kanaan over at KV could pull it off? If I had to narrow it down, I’d say there are about ten drivers total who actually have a legitimate shot at walking away with the win.

It’s been interesting watching the practice sessions; there have been very few yellow flags so far, mostly just due to debris on the track. Honestly, though? It makes me a little nervous. Between the brand-new cars and this being their first big oval race, I can't help but worry we might see a lot of contact out there.
Behind the scenes, there is actually a bit of a scramble happening to try and hit that legendary number 33 for the race, simply because they are running short on engines.

I wasn't even looking for much, but honestly? It turned out to be a truly great film.
I might take a quick look at the race, but honestly, it’s mostly just because I’m bored.
It’s going to be a total blowout...

It’s such a shame they don't run IndyCar there anymore.

Tomorrow we've got the IndyCar @ Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Here’s the layout for the track:

Track: 2.6-mile, 11-turn temporary street circuit
Laps: 75 laps/195 miles
The green flag should drop around 5:00 PM, I believe.

I mean, I gave it a shot and tried to follow along, and I guess the action sequences were somewhat decent enough, but the actual plot? It just didn't land for me at all.

Chevrolet is swapping out engines for the entire lineup right before the Long Beach race starts.😍

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/98750

So, get this: eleven drivers are facing penalties—they’re all dropping ten spots on the grid. Can you imagine how chaotic that race is going to be? It’s going to be absolute madness! And if you factor in Bourdais, who already picked up a penalty earlier for switching out his Lotus engine, the total count jumps to twelve drivers being penalized.

Here’s a shot from Long Beach that really captures the vibe over at the Chevy camp.😁

Not a bad way to spend the time, especially with just 36 hours to go before the big race against Tony Kanaan. It looks like they're planning to feature a different driver in every single episode.

I hear things went absolutely wild out there! Any chance you could share some of the highlights from the race?
