Right... I get it... but why on earth should we turn a slow-burn movie into some kind of monumental masterpiece?

Look, I'll admit there are some decent parts—I won't sit here and list them all—but overall? It didn't blow me away. Just because it’s based on true events doesn't mean it suddenly gains this intense, fresh dimension. Sure, the fact that he started working for the FBI after prison is a fitting reward for someone with above-average talent according to my own values, but even that isn't enough to elevate the film. It doesn't stop you from zoning out during the slow bits or leave you feeling truly impressed by the story.

All things considered, I wasn't exactly blown away. There were a few sharp segments, sure, but the rest felt dragged out. It ends on a happy note just because the guy managed to pull it off in the end.
Andrew Anderson6, thanks! 🙂
I looked up those little lumps they caught on my ultrasound, and apparently, they can be totally benign—there are all sorts of kinds. I’ve got an appointment with my internist in a few days, so we'll see what the next steps are.
Do you happen to know anything more about how these types of disorders relate to pregnancy? From what I've read, they often pop up after childbirth, especially in women whose conditions were managed with medication, and there's a chance things could revert during pregnancy. Beyond that, I'm wondering what the actual consequences might be for the baby if a disorder like this isn't caught early enough.
That bulging eye thing? It happens because with certain hypo-variants—I can never quite remember the full medical term—your body starts producing this sludge-like substance. It builds up in specific spots: behind the optic nerve, around your wrist joints (which can trigger carpal tunnel from all that nerve pressure), or right under the skin, making you look bloated or puffy.

As for me, I’ve been diagnosed with an enlarged thyroid with nodules, though my TSH levels came back fine. They're sitting right at the low end of the "normal" range rather than the middle, but technically, they're within the limits. Now I'm just waiting on an appointment with an internist to get some actual answers. Honestly, I still don't know if I'm dealing with a hypo or hyper variant, or if I'm totally in the clear and my thyroid is pumping out just enough hormone—though I'm secretly praying for that outcome, even if the symptoms say otherwise. What really trips me up is that I'm feeling symptoms for both hypo and hyper-whatever, which makes me wonder: is it possible for the thyroid to just malfunction erratically, swinging between overproducing and underproducing hormones?

So, has anyone actually seen The Idiots? It’s that one where a group lives together in some house acting completely out of their minds, and then eventually one of the women who joins them ends up having this massive blowout with her family, right?

The Celebration was fantastic, and I loved Mifune, but this one—The Idiots, I think—is just bizarre. I honestly can't decide if I actually like it or not.

Anyway, give me the Hollywood stuff any day: flashy special effects, those sugary-sweet endings, the inevitable love affair, high-speed car chases, and all that other nonsense. Honestly, there's a lot of selling out happening under the guise of "indie film" movements.
