I actually just got back from the hospital yesterday following my surgery.👋
I figured I’d write a more detailed account of my experience once about half a month has passed and the wounds have healed up a bit more properly...........

Long story short: a few days ago, while I was taking a dump, I noticed some blood on a large seashell. Even the toilet paper was stained. I've been reading up on it, and apparently, you're supposed to rinse off with water after every bowel movement. Now I'm wondering—should I keep using toilet paper, or should I switch immediately to rinsing? Also, what does "rinsing" actually entail in this context? Am I talking about using the shower, a wet cloth, or something else entirely? Help...
Feel free to use the shower... and you can definitely still use toilet paper beforehand—it doesn't cause hemorrhoids, even if some people claim it's better to skip the paper entirely and just rinse off afterward.

I’m looking for anyone who has gone through this procedure to share their experiences—specifically regarding the recovery period, how much pain to expect afterward, and anything else I should know.
P.S. These are internal hemorrhoids.
Thanks.🙏
Is there seriously no one here who has had this done? 🤷
Starting December 1st, 2008, a new obesity clinic at Mayo Clinic will be opening its doors within the new polyclinic facility.
It’s shaping up to be quite an impressive launch—we're looking at a full multidisciplinary team featuring endocrinologists, along with dietitians and psychiatrists brought in as needed.
For anyone living in Chicago or the surrounding areas, getting started should be straightforward; you'll just need a referral for the obesity clinic from your primary care physician.
I’ve been struggling with this for quite some time now, but over the last six months, I’ve been experiencing bleeding after every single bowel movement. This constant blood loss is really starting to take a toll on me—I’m dealing with brain fog, total lethargy, and just feeling generally wiped out. The only silver lining is that I don't actually experience any pain.
None of the non-invasive methods have done much to help, though I suppose things improve slightly when I’m being strict about my diet.
I am under no illusions; I know there will be some discomfort and various complications ahead. However, I would truly appreciate it if someone who has actually gone through the procedure could share their experience. Specifically, how long does the recovery period actually last, and what kind of side effects should I be bracing for?
On a side note, I’ve heard that laser treatment is superior to standard infrared electrocoagulation (which is what one or two private clinics in Washington, D.C. offer), but the cost is astronomical and I simply don't have the funds right now...
I have a hemorrhoid surgery scheduled at Mayo Clinic.
I’m hoping anyone who has gone through a similar procedure could share their experience—specifically regarding the recovery process and how intense the pain is post-op.
P.S. They are internal hemorrhoids.
Thanks.🙏
It’s a bit much for me to wade through this entire thread, so if I could just jump in with a quick question:
Is laser surgery actually painless, and how long is the typical stay at the hospital or a private clinic?
Also, if anyone happens to know what the costs are looking like lately.
Thanks.
