Seriously, I've been looking at what people are talking about regarding movies lately... And honestly, we really need a simple thread for those old-school movies you'd rent from a video store. Just small, regular films to pass an evening with some popcorn. It would be nice to get a recommendation or a warning on what to grab or avoid—especially if you can't find a big blockbuster and end up stuck with some obscure flick featuring low-budget actors like Robert De Niro or Anthony Hopkins.
Here's what I've watched recently:
Sex Guru - A decent, fun little watch. Definitely check it out when you're just chilling after grabbing coffee on a summer evening.
Death to Smoochy - It took me forever to finally rent this one; I kept eyeing it from a distance and putting it off. But man, it's a brilliant dark comedy with a killer cast. Edward Norton leads the pack, and he's incredible—he can play absolutely anything. Seriously, he's climbing my list of favorite actors at lightning speed. Even Robin Williams is phenomenal in this. Highly recommended. (Directed by Danny DeVito, who also has a great role in it.)

Did you actually live in the city back then? You seem to remember things way too clearly, and honestly, ZRM was never really huge outside of our local neighborhood circles. Now I'm starting to wonder if half of us were even in the same class...
If it's about the music, I've got vinyl at my place, so we could figure something out. Personally, I thought that Polish boy's gig was total garbage, so I recorded it on an old dictaphone I swiped from my dad. But looking back twenty years later, it’s wild how those recordings end up surfacing in places they have no business being. I spent all day hunting for it, but no luck. Whatever.
By the way, does anyone actually know what ZRM stands for? You might not believe this, but it stands for zone of early masturbation. Since that term wasn't exactly socially acceptable back then—given that masturbation is just a capitalist invention and we were all serious young people building great societies without time for capitalist nonsense—we just stuck to the acronym.

I love movies you can just zone out to with some popcorn. Taxi 3 is exactly that kind of flick. I thought the first two were pretty terrible, but I actually had a blast with the third one. Honestly... that opening scene where she’s losing her mind at those rally drivers because they won't move, and then she turns around to apologize to the passengers because of all the tourists clogging up the streets? Pure genius. God, we need more fun movies like this...

Look, don't make me call in Jackie Chan to bend the spines of this whole top ten list—and you along with me—for why I even bothered mentioning such a sacred name on a thread like this...

There are plenty of solid bands in America, I honestly don't get why everyone complains so much about the quality of domestic music.
Most of you have pretty much listed them all, though I’d add that local crowd in El Paso and one band—definitely not the best, but maybe the most fun and beloved American band ever—the goofy guys from the countryside: Cooperative. I don't know, maybe it's because my work takes me out toward the rural areas, so I really get that vibe, and they were just so authentic.
Sadly, their last album dropped way back in '99, and there hasn't been a peep since. Does anyone know what happened to them? I'd love to find out.
I live in a tiny little town where the asphalt hasn't even reached yet where the fields are fertile and the forests are green and cows graze on the hillside...
If they don't bring back Famke Jensen in the next installment, I'm out. If the movie tanks at the box office because of it, don't look at me... it'll be entirely on you guys.

the meaning of life MP hit DVD a few years back, though without American subtitles. I have it at my place if anyone cares. the Holy Grail came out on DVD a few months ago. The DVD is actually pretty solid. It’s got some documentaries, a few new sketches, stuff like that. I watched Life of Brian a couple days ago. These movies just never get old; they stay fresh forever. That scene where John Cleese plays the Roman centurion correcting Chapman's grammar while he's tagging graffiti on the palace walls... it's legendary. Honestly... writing about Saturday Night Live is pointless. You just have to watch them...
Spelling doesn't even matter here. You can see the guy posted this at 5 AM; if I were typing at that hour, it would look like total gibberish, let alone worrying about grammar.
