It feels like every time a new massive industrial project moves into a rural area, the local vibe just gets swallowed up by concrete and humming machines. I can't help but wonder if we're trading our actual community identity just to keep the internet running at high speeds. Is the convenience of the digital age worth erasing the soul of the places we call home?

I personally get my checkups at the Mayo Clinic, but according to the latest issue of Lake! (from last week's USA Today), doctors actually recommend going to Mount Sinai if you want treatment there: specifically with Dr. Michael Ries or Professor Thomas Baudoin.
Anyway, both the Mayo Clinic and Mount Sinai are fine, it's just that there's a strike happening right now (so I'm stuck waiting too)...
(By the way, they told me at the Mayo Clinic that things aren't busy at the ENT department over at Mercury... interesting...)

My Mom passed away from pancreatic adenocarcinoma, so I truly understand what you're going through.
Nobody really wanted to give us the full details about what to expect, so we had to navigate it all on our own—unfortunately... I won't get too deep into the specifics right now. But it makes sense; people often struggle to speak openly about such heavy, uncomfortable topics.

It's vital to hold onto a strong faith that this isn't the end (it isn't!), and to believe that God has laid out our paths this way... He knows everything, while we—honestly—know almost nothing.
So much in life feels unfair or senseless at first glance, but whether we want to or not, we have to accept it—because we don't know the true reasons, and it isn't up to us, but to the Creator...

Can anyone recommend a good GP or family doctor in NYC, anywhere?... I know a fair amount about medicine myself (just as a layperson), so I really appreciate being able to have a bit of a conversation with my doctor... :-)

I stopped by the West Side Emergency Services today (at 11 B. Filipović St) - they have two female doctors there who might be taking new patients: Nevenka Križić and Snježana Maslov. Does anyone know what it's like working with them?...

They both work at the same medical practice.
Peloton review? in Health ·
Alright, but the real question is which drive system actually performs better. One user mentioned that you shouldn't go with a belt drive and should stick to a chain instead, even though the latter is much cheaper. So, what's the actual catch—belt versus chain?
Peloton review? in Health ·
Someone mentioned on another thread that chain drives are superior to magnetic ones, but my local shopkeeper insists on the exact opposite. He claims magnets don't require maintenance, unlike a chain that might need replacing after about three years, plus they're virtually silent compared to the noise of a chain... While the magnetic version definitely carries a higher price tag, I'm wondering what the actual deciding factor is...
Treadmill reviews and advice in Health ·
Where in New York City could I pick up a legitimate treadmill? (Not the cheap stuff you'd find at a place like General Electric)
I stumbled upon this online. I would just add that high doses of Q10 (over 300 mg daily) and Vitamin C (5-10 g) might offer some support—there is plenty of info on this if you search Google for "cancer + q10"...

My wife of 36 years passed away in 2001 from pancreatic cancer.
What I know about cancer is that it stems primarily from nutritional deficiencies. Chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery focus on managing the symptoms—the malignant tumor itself—but they don't actually tackle the underlying cause or the biological process creating the tumor. To truly address the root issue (and it is never too late, even with tumors in the pancreas or liver), a strict dietary regimen is vital. I won't go into the full scientific explanation here, but essentially, you need to shift your body chemistry from acidic toward alkaline while increasing oxygen levels and live enzyme intake. Cancer cells struggle to survive in an alkaline environment rich in oxygen and live enzymes. So, how do you achieve this? The best way to make the body uninviting for cancer cells is to transition to a mostly raw food diet. This means cutting out meat—beef, pork, poultry, you name it—and eliminating dairy entirely. Instead, focus on fruits, vegetables, nuts, avocados, and complex carbs like sweet potatoes, lima beans, and lentils. It is especially important to load up on dark, leafy greens like collard greens, turnip greens, kale, and cabbage. Even better, try juicing those greens and sipping 3 to 4 ounces every few hours. Doing this supports your healthy cells while suppressing the cancer cells. Also, please stop using white sugar, white flour, and refined grains, as cancer cells feed on those simple carbs. There is more to discuss, but if you do nothing else, stop the meat and dairy, get a juicer, and drink small amounts of green vegetable juice every couple of hours. This helps alkalize the body and floods it with oxygen and enzymes, creating an environment where cancer cells simply cannot survive. Feel free to reach out if you want to talk more. I'm Maurice at: emekam@silverlink.net and I am located in Seattle, Washington.

I pray that God grants you the strength and discipline needed to make your body a place where cancer cannot take hold. It isn't so much about "fighting" the disease as it is about nourishing your body so it becomes an inhospitable environment for it. This is something you can control. God Bless You.
