Where in New York City could I pick up a legitimate treadmill? (Not the cheap stuff you'd find at a place like General Electric)

Check out Peloton, right near the corner of Broadway.
They have models ranging from $700 all the way up to $2000, so just see which one fits your budget and needs.😁

Just an idea that popped into my head...😁 ...why not just grab one used??

There are tons of people who buy a piece of gear and then totally lose interest, so you can find stuff that’s basically brand new or barely even been touched. Honestly, it's a total steal if you play your cards right.👍

I picked mine up from REI about a year ago for $500. I use it almost every single day for 30 to 60 minutes, and it still runs like it's brand new!!!
