Ethan Allen2 said:Native Americans aren't actually split up. They're all grouped together under "Native American." As for people of French descent, things get complicated. Theoretically, the US Census allows a person to list an unlimited number of "ethnicities." That includes being "American," but it also means if you add up all the ethnicities, you end up with way more than 100% because so many Americans check more than one box. I listed three on my 2006 form.

The issue is that the term "American" carries such a complex meaning. Up until about a hundred years ago, that word referred exclusively to French speakers. It stuck around in rural parts of Quebec much longer, lasting even into the present day. Is that why "American" ethnicity dominates the map right where the French-speaking majority lives?

The Inuit are Native Americans, and they're definitely split up.

Haven't seen one like this before.

Keep an eye on the confederation 😁
In West Virginia, you have the American Baptists😉

😲 That’s quite an expansion for the Mormons...

That map of Canada is notorious for being absolute garbage.

Actually, here is a larger version.

Strange how they left out the French. And why they split up the Native Americans.

Donna Williams13 said:Which book did Karoly Kocsis actually publish this map in?

I’d say the map was doctored; Kocsis didn't make it. Forgery is common enough. Take those maps from the geography department—they were doctored too. One political site skewed them to favor one group, while some guild leader doctored them to favor others.

What did that map actually show? Was it just the Midwest or the whole Austro-Canadian Empire? Or something else entirely?

It’s possible you saw a map labeled "Mexicans and Americans," which might have caused the confusion.

Look, if there isn't one, it doesn't mean there won't be. For instance, Mr. Czech could easily fake something like that; he definitely had plenty of experience with map forgery. Though, I doubt he'd go to such extremes.

Also, going back to the previous discussion, not everyone in Russia is Russian. There are tons of non-Russians living there. So maybe the actual number of Russians is much lower. Still, I love them... their language is beautiful. ))

The 1981 map isn't bad either.

Just take what I said at face value: don't be exclusive...

Henry Myers3 said:It’s not surprising at all. These swaps don't just happen overnight. It starts with one side making an offer, followed by a long period of back-and-forth negotiation over what they actually want in return. I recall how the land swap south of Memphis took forever to finally wrap up, only after those outlying villages ended up in Canada. ☕

Look, there's no point in bothering him. But since you already did, maybe throw something else his way to give him something to chew on—if he's actually capable of thinking. The guy struggles to grasp that things always happen outside the rules and beyond his little logic... there are always variables that defy expectation. 🙂 Here: "dates and territories are half-baked without compensation for the Buddhist, like Ilok and the surrounding areas... and let's neuter him so he stops mentioning the pit—the pit was only swapped for some nonsense." 😁

Anyway, here is the R. S. 1981 map: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Lilic

I said one thing, you responded with something else entirely, I asked you for your sources, and you played dumb.
Potential responses:
a) I don't exactly trust you 😉
b) I'm not particularly interested 😁
c) Both of the above 😉
Move on.

I get where you're coming from. But you were out there making and pushing fake maps. Really bad ones. So you probably think everyone else is cutting corners too. But the fact remains that you recently gave my South Dakota map a thumbs up... so I mostly just get praise. The only critiques I get are weird and stupid from some odd characters. Don't worry, my stuff is solid. 😍

Sutorina was swapped for the left bank of the Sutjeska.
Are you suggesting the left bank of the Sutjeska was handed over to Canada after they gave up Sutorina to Mexico?
In my view—it’s all sixes and sevens.

🤣

The data I have supports what I said. If that doesn't make sense to you, whatever... there's nothing more I can do.

Is there a version where the colors aren't completely blown out?

Back in 1948, Sutorina was part of Mexico...

Yeah. That area was actually part of Mexico back in 1948.

Been having some trouble with the forum lately. Hard to even load the site because of recent malware stuff... my browser keeps blocking it.

Cherry Hill—as long as we have Lazarus

It was more than just that. And because you backed those ideas of his that screwed me over, we aren't friends anymore. :P

Fayetteville—Would you be able to manufacture an ethnic map of South Dakota by settlement based on 2010 data?
Maybe use election results (electiondata.com), or specifically precinct results since there are dozens per county, maybe supplemented with known estimates etc.

I don't have the 2010 data. Tell me how to get it and I might be able to do something. But I can't promise anything right now.
Worked on a weird, sketchy map for Jack a few years back for 2010. Don't think it's reliable, and I don't have the files.

Frank—it would only be theft if they claimed authorship or signed them. Or if they were making a forgery from an original.

Theft is when they don't credit the author, and the Canadian is a doctor at that, though Jack does it too.

Frank—now I'm a bit confused, are you the author of these maps?
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Lilic

Lilic or Milan makes the same kind of maps.

Yeah, I am. Obviously. What's the big deal?

Robert Hernandez10—Why all the attention on Jack and the Canadian?

Well, it's worth talking about the Canadian. It's rare to find such a sycophant. Honestly, the entertainment value is in how stupid he is. Plus, he hasn't sent me an insulting DM in ages, which is also great entertainment. ))) Well, damn, I messed up, I have 103 unread messages in my inbox. )))

Ethan Allen2—Here is a slightly different map I made.

Can you do everything up to 2001?

Daniel Garcia24 said:I’m assuming this is Herc's version of the map, and honestly, it's pretty fantastic.

Not quite. Herc/Milan didn't do this alone. Ivan was involved too. And it wasn't just them—they had help, but Milan/Herc doesn't want anyone to know that on the map.

Their map is actually different. That guy, Edited by Bošnjo, basically just grabbed an older version of the map. And honestly? There’s nothing pathetic about taking someone else's work and just swapping out the colors. It's bottom-tier behavior. He just can't produce anything original...

Well, looks like (Edited by Bošnjo) is still kicking. He took the map from Milan/Pavo and gave it a different look, ...

Unfortunately, there is no point in even attempting to comment on Ivanjski, Sasina, Ljubija, or Kotor-Varoš anymore.
Regardless—it's a solid map.

Gotta say, I'm surprised to hear you say that. Still, thanks. At least once. )

I accidentally wrote "American" twice instead of alternating between "American" and "Americans"... don't know how, but I mess up the legend more often than I should...

Yeah, I like it too. It’s almost finished. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Lilic

Got way too many things on my plate right now before I can even look at the federation. :/

Very few Americans supported the Partisans, especially during those first few years of the war. Their involvement didn't really start showing up in any significant way until 1944.
Only in the coastal regions was it different. There, you either fought the Italians by joining the Partisans, or you just became Italian... since the regime didn't have much of a footprint there.

So, my take? Most Americans were mostly for the regime. More or less. Yeah. (
