SD card not being detected? in IT Support ·
I don't want to start a whole new thread here, but I'm having the exact same issue... my SD card isn't being recognized, even when I plug it into my external camera. Ever since I formatted it, it's just gone. Same thing happens on my phone, too. I haven't even had this thing for six months... is it really possible it already kicked the bucket? 🤔
Quarantine Life in Coronavirus ·
When does the isolation clock actually start for positive cases? Is it from when you first feel crappy or once you actually get a test result back? I started feeling symptoms on Thursday, but my appointment isn't for another two days... And how long am I supposed to be stuck in isolation anyway?

Larry Ortiz5 said:You can, sure. But tell me what your budget looks like and what kind of power supply you're running. I need the specific model and the wattage...

Power supply is a Corsair CX 500. Budget is around $500, maybe stretching to $667 if I have to... but if there's something decent for $500, that would be ideal.

Hey, would it be possible to upgrade the GPU on this build? Any specific recommendations?

Photo Editing Tips & Tricks in Software ·
Not trying to start a whole new thread here, but I could use some software recommendations for photo editing. Right now, my workflow is pretty basic: I open a file in the Microsoft Photos app on Windows 10, hit edit, and then click auto-enhance. It sharpens, brightens, and adjusts everything in one go... it works fine. The problem is I have to do it one by one because there's no way to batch process them all at once. If anyone knows of a free program that can handle bulk improvements similar to how the Microsoft Photos app does it, let me know 🙂

Thanks for the deep dive on the graphics card info. As for the RAM, I downloaded the utility and checked... slots 3 and 4 are filled up.

I haven't the slightest clue. I just picked up this rig from a buddy, and all he said was that he’d probably swap out the GPU for something better if he were me. 😁 Should I be looking at moving the RAM to a different slot or something?

Hey, I'm looking to upgrade my rig... just want to swap out the GPU for something better. Would love some advice on what actually makes sense given my current specs. 🙂

Hey, just an FYI 🙂 Btw, it’s not idling. I’ve got a mountain of stuff open 😁

Hey, I’m looking to offload this rig, but I’m a total novice when it comes to pricing. Would love to get some thoughts from you guys 🙂

Case is some Microsoft Industrial Edition

Edit: forgot to mention, picked up the whole setup at a Best Buy back in early 2012.

Car Insurance: What are your experiences? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Alright, thanks for the input!
So here’s the deal with a buddy of mine. His old man hasn't had a registered vehicle through a major rental agency like Enterprise in maybe three or four years. Since then, he hasn't bothered registering anything and doesn't plan to... which means he’s sitting on that 50% good driver discount. Now he wants to pass that benefit down to his son. The kid just got his license and bought his first car, so the dad wants to make sure he doesn't get crushed by those initial insurance rates...

Hey everyone, quick question... does any insurance provider actually grant a bonus to a son or daughter if one parent holds a 50% stake? And if they do, is it an actual, permanent benefit, or just some carrot they dangle only to snatch it away the following year?

Basically, it’s always the same old story... when you're actually sitting there signing the contract, they promise you the moon, the stars, and everything in between, making it sound like they'll be your best friend forever. But man, once you actually file a claim and realize you need them to pay out for some real damage... that's when the honeymoon phase ends and all the headaches truly begin! 👍

From my experience, things are easiest and fastest when someone admits they messed up. Simple. But if they won't take the blame, you have to call the police. Then you're stuck waiting on the police report, which they’re supposed to get to the insurance company within a month by law. Of course, they always wait until the very last minute. Then the paperwork goes through the mail, then they mail you to come sign the final documents... it drags on.

If it's the first scenario—where fault is clear—it's better if you know someone working at the agency. You can have them nudge the claims department to email you the signature pages. After that, you just wait for the check to hit your account, which usually takes about 15 to 30 days.

My Allstate policy is about to expire, so I went online to see what kind of rates I’m looking at this year. I hopped on Comparison, plugged in my info, and the system tells me I have a 130% malus. I checked another insurance company's website too, and it’s the exact same story. 😲
Last year was my first time registering a car with State Farm, and I actually got a 35% bonus. I haven't been in a single accident. I don't get it. I really hope it's just some glitch in the system.
Everything gets verified through Lloyd's of London. That's where they track your bonus levels and check if you've filed any claims. But ever since the market started deregulating, the whole Lloyd's system has been a mess. You aren't the only one dealing with this... when it comes time to renew a policy, they just look at whatever bonus is listed on the current paperwork instead of pulling the actual data from Lloyd's.
Best external hard drives to buy right now? in Computer Peripherals ·
Hey, my D drive is maxed out and my 500 GB external drive is hitting its limit too. I’ve been browsing external drives online, but honestly, I’m lost on which one to pick. Is there anywhere in Chicago where I can actually go see the hardware in person? Or is it better to just stick to an online shop? Online might be easier since I don't live in the city and the local shops around here have zero selection... plus everything is overpriced...

Looking for about 1 TB capacity, budget around $200... I saw a Toshiba model on Amazon for $180 but figured I'd check here first. Just need it for storage and backups—TV series, music, that kind of stuff.

It’s not like I’m some obsessive hardcore gamer or anything. I just jump in when something actually looks decent. Lately, I've been cycling through stuff like NFS Most Wanted, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed... honestly, I won't even bother bringing up the older titles. I just finished Assassin's Creed, and now? No clue what's next or even when I'll get around to it. I'll just wait until I stumble upon something that actually fits my vibe.😁

Thanks for all the advice and input. 🙂 I’m not really looking to swap out any other parts right now, nor am I in the market for a whole new rig, so Timothy Kim60 you think grabbing an HD6670 DDR5 would be my best bet just to see how far I can push things?

Edit:
Forgot to mention... I'm running at 1920 x 1080 resolution, though obviously I never actually play anything at that setting because my hardware can't handle it. 😁

Damn, you guys are quick with the replies. Didn't expect anyone to get back to me before morning 😁 The power supply is a Platinum MS 400 ATX P4, 230V, 5A, 50/60 HZ, 400 Watts.

I picked this rig up as a bundle about three years ago... if I remember right. It was some big Christmas sale, so I ended up with the whole setup for New Year's—complete PC, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and monitor. Honestly, it doesn't make sense to buy anything new right now, so I figured maybe just a newer graphics card would give me a bit of a boost...
