Used PC builds: What are they worth?

I was wondering if anyone could give me a ballpark idea of what I might get for my
XFX 7950GT 512 DDR3 AGP (http://www.xfxforce.com/web/product/...tionId=1006114)
It's about a year old now, and it's still got two years of warranty left on it.

You could always go hunting for $367, though I can tell you for a fact that one of my buddies just offloaded an X1950XT AGP—mind you, it didn't come with any warranty—for about $267 on eBay... and honestly, those $500 cards are already sitting at 3850 AGP prices these days! If you asked the folks over at Newegg, they’d probably value it somewhere between 850 and $317, but if you ask me, on a forum like this, it's more like $367, in my humble opinion of course... 🙂

Hello, I am looking for some information regarding how much I could realistically get for my computer setup. I have no intention of selling it just yet—I think it would take forever to find a buyer, and honestly, it’s served me well enough.

Honestly, it’s just not worth the hassle... you’d have to let it go for dirt cheap just to move it...

If you’re bored with how it performs, just swap out the processor, the GPU, and the PSU and call it a day. You can definitely squeeze a bit more life out of that rig...

1. Your computer specs are a total mess right now... I can't tell what motherboard you're running or even how much RAM you have. Do me a favor and run CPU-Z, then come back and update those details above so we actually know what we're working with.
2. There isn't much life left in the 754 socket (or maybe it's 939, since you didn't specify the motherboard model). You aren't going to find any meaningful CPU upgrades there; anything new would be impossible to find, so you'd be stuck hunting for used parts. Furthermore, there's really no point in dropping money on a high-end graphics card if the processor is too weak to handle it—you'll just end up with a massive bottleneck. You could potentially look into a dual-core setup if it happens to be a 939 board, but honestly, it's not worth the effort to hunt one down or install it. Basically, without more specific info from you, a real upgrade would require replacing the motherboard, the CPU, the RAM, the power supply, and the GPU. If you're looking to get rid of the whole rig, my advice is to sell it off in pieces... you'll move the parts much faster that way.

I don't know... I have a feeling that BenQ monitor isn't actually that old since you can still find it listed, and I'm pretty sure the 9500 GT wasn't designed for AGP—so I figured the motherboard had to be AM2... hopefully. Plus, you rarely saw 4GB of RAM being used on DDR1 boards like those 754 or 939 setups.

It’s possible the GPU uses PCIe... but as for the processor... I wouldn't bet on it being designed specifically for AM2+. I’m actually running one on a 754 socket myself... XD... and honestly, I might just be imagining things if he thinks he's made a point when he hasn't actually said anything at all...

That processor actually came in an AM2 version too, so it’s definitely a possibility, and the GPU is almost certainly PCI-E. It would be awesome if the OP could just clear things up so we aren't guessing...

That’s a pretty decent setup. Honestly, I wouldn't even think about selling it unless you're sitting on a massive pile of extra cash and just looking for an excuse to build something new...

With a decent cooler, you could probably overclock that E4500 and squeeze a few more years of life out of it. Plus, that EVGA 8800 GT still holds its own in games to some extent...

As for what it's worth, I'm no expert, but I'd guess you're looking at somewhere around $250.

Dammit... looks like it’s actually Socket 939 and DDR1 after all... honestly, nobody is going to touch that. It's a dead platform. You can't even find a decent dual-core upgrade for it anymore. If you stripped out the monitor and the Western Digital drive and just left one stick of RAM, maybe someone might pick it up for a couple hundred bucks just to use as a cheap torrent box...

As for the memory, it says 3584 MB RAM up there, which probably means you've got four 1GB sticks. And down here, it lists the RAM type as DDR... if it really is DDR1, those Gigabyte sticks might actually be worth something since they're pretty rare. I don't know the exact market value, but if that's the case, check some listings on eBay or something and see what people are asking...

I saw some guys trying to sell Celeron builds with 40GB HDDs and everything for like $3,000 without even including a monitor... honestly, WTF? xD
